  • still funny as fuk after all these years. R I P Gary.

  • RIP Simon Brint

  • my 2 favourite people there, are gilmour, and lemmy.

  • Ralph McTell watched this twice.

  • "what song does ralph mctell play at 1:21?" hahaha good one

  • awesome!

  • Genius!

  • amazing x

  • rip gary moore

  • r.i.p gary moore :(

  • Does somebody know the tune Gary Moore plays during his entrance?

  • @nutsbutdum Parisienne Walkways

  • @GeordieNewcastle Thanks for your answers:)

Can you imagine that I discovered his music on Friday, ...and he died Sunday!?

Last year I bought a book from a historian author(Tony Judt) that I had just saw on YouTube,...the guy died the same day. I really hope David Gilmour is not planing a "great gig in the sky" anytime soon, because this is getting ridiculous!

  • Brilliant sketch.

Love the way that Jennifer Saunders starts slapping her typewriter thing like a mentalist when Lemmy comes on!

  • for everyone who plays guitar....u gotta fukn luv this sketch

  • None of them would make through a Cowell show now probably. Actual talent would be an anathenma !

  • is it just coincidental that "Exhibit A" Ia a diagram of an "A" chord? :P

  • knopfler and lemmy - from my two favourite bands. lovely!

  • haha, this is one of my favourite sketches of all time!!! awesome!

  • haha, that always makes me laugh!

  • Thanks for posting, brilliant.

The way I remembered it, McTell says at the end, "its a fair cop!" maybe there was a pay-off at the end of the show, does anyone remember?

Doesn't Mctell also struggle to play his own song as well?

  • Ace Of Spades in Ralph McTell's easy guitar tunes! Brilliant stuff.... Exhibit IΊΦΦΦΊ

  • This is great!

  • Fabulous :) Bri

  • This one is hilarious!!

  • absolute classic sketch,brilliant!!

  • Fair to say Mark King is a comedy genius!

  • "nah we'd never get the witnesses will we?" LOL

  • Great posting 5*****

    Claude

  • Thats my uncle =)

  • It's a C.

  • Is that the Ralph McTell that sings the theme song from "The WInd and the Willows"?

  • Brilliant

  • Very to the point.

A society that made itself so complex, they find a song of Mc Tell or Knopfler , oooh!!! ei big danger!

    Idiots rule. Better Stop themselves.

I am sick of being positive ,it -on top- only arises their agression!

You gotta be a bad modafukka that they like ,that they feel ...

So let them cool down alone.

  • I wish I knew what you were going on about.

  • What?

  • Gilmore Rocks!

  • *Gilmour

  • I love how the victim's guitar is upside down, the solicitor's fly is open, and Exhibit A is in fact the chord of A.

  • hes left handed dude

  • Fair enough, but why is the pick guard on top?

  • Because it's a right handed Guitar!

  • what song does ralph mctell play at 1:21?

  • 'streets of london' his single from 1970 ish. someone will tell me exact date i'm sure!

  • Gilmour is the funniest... he owns it! and never noticed him and King look so similar.

  • i hear you jools, thought this sketch was a dream i had in my youth cuz no-one i know has ever seen it! talk about blast from the past.

  • have spent the last twenty years trying to convince people this really happenede! now i have the truth.

  • Genius! "Mr K-nopfler, now with the book... is there a problem?"

    What's not to like? :o)

  • How did they manage to convince all those guys to do cameo spots....cameo dots? Great to see some older French and Saunders on Youtube - many thanks Monsterjumper,,,

  • Hey there! Does anyone know if this skit is on any of the six DVDs BBC is selling as a complete 'French & Saunders Collection'? I purchased the set specifically for this segment and haven't found it yet!

  • "there's no little dots...." hihi

  • Very funny! Great idea..thanks.

  • "Nah, we'd never get the witnessess would we?" ROFL

  • Not sure how Ralph was cajoled into taking part but he looked a little uncomfortable, even lost.

Fair play to all the legends who took part, TV gold. French & Saunders, what happened girls? Oh, when i see you now.

  • I saw this years ago when it was aired late nights in Singapore. I was really excited about all the musicians that appeared on this episode, especially when Mark King gave his appearance :) Brilliant britcoms.

  • Absolutely brilliant !!!!!!!!

  • oh my god I LOVE THIS!! thank you so much for posting! not seen it for years!!!!

  • Took some finding but soooooo glad I did !!!

  • Awesome Vid:)))))

  • Funny!

  • Lemmy is the man!

  • Had to comment... lemmy is not "the man"

    Lemmy is God!

  • Never will see a line up like that again. Must have took some organising to get all of them on the show.

  • great video... he's fly are open btw....

  • Brilliant video! I hope Ralph comes out with a ukulele chord book, too!

  • I met him back in 1994 - brought Ralf and my USA agent together for some music bizz stuff. Nice bloke. Very good Live - if you get the chance to see him, it´s well worth the trip.

  • awesome

  • Same here Mindfreak5150, the most amazing lineup of guitarists ever, thenks Monstersjumper

  • Is there a problem? Is there a problem?

This video always makes me laugh.

Cheaper than Prozak but just as addictive ?

  • I love the video. If you like McTell's music, check out cdbaby + Taking a Dive (Heart First) for two covers of his tunes by Peter Thompson.

  • Hilarious.

I almost fell on the floor laughing!

  • stupid but fun only by johnny b good

  • It is unquestionably a fair cop, guv!

  • can somebody tell me what theyr problem is? I understand that this book is actually not the best but what's that with the A chord ting?

  • Exhibit A ROFL

( and it's "behind" bars too like poor Ralph ;-) )

Not all these chord and tab books are of the same high quality - many errors and omissions - so you are even more confused about what to play after trying to decipher them.

  • the guy in the tux is one half of a comedy double act called raw sex the other member is roland riveron who was the man calling in all the witnesses hope this helps

  • Simon Brint :)

  • This is really funny. But could someone post a little explanation, for us Yanks, of the show and other context? Who is the guy in the cheesy tux?

  • Gilmour!

  • I've been looking for this for years ever since I first recorded it off the telly! Thanks for sharing!!

  • This is great! Ralph McTell surely is guilty of being a great guitarist!!

  • Yes, I have long been planning to sue him for many sore fingers over the years while trying to learn his stuff - usually ending up in depressing defeats ;-)

He should count himself very lucky that he is not an American *LOL*

  • Brilliant. :)

  • That was great, thanks! It's odd, cause they're ALL my all time favourite musicians (apart from Lemmy). If Clapton was there it'd be even better, but all the greats are there - Ralph McTell, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Gary Moore, Mark King...

    Thanks again, that was great!

  • See ? Even the best in the bizz take their guitar lessons from Ralph McTell ;-)
