This isn't for me. It just doesn't capture the emotion correctly. I certainly respect them as musicians, I just don't think Bluegrass Modest Mouse is for me.
Nice set... But where can I find this movie? Almost out of pure curiosity... Being photojournalist for money and portraitist for pleasure, I'm very interested in how the light was set back then, and not only in feature films, but in documentaries too. Seems modern movie makers are too fascinated with post processing, HDR and 3D to remember that just 3-4 incandescent sources can make stunning effects. (btw, I like IHB renditions of Metallica and Modest Mouse much more than original...)
These covers are very interesting. I recently discovered my taste for Bluegrass.
But I find it kind of stereotypical of the Bluegrass movement to censor itself though. In Trailer Trash, he doesn't even say 'god' (says 'man' instead) and here he says 'old' instead of 'damn' (right before 'place').
@ModestMousekateer The roots of the genre are Chrisitan spirituals and Baptists in Appalachia. The dudes who made this album are from that area and while being big fans of Modest Mouse, didn't see the harm in adjusting the lyrics so that their non-Modest Mouse fans could enjoy the music.
Wow, the old movie footage combined with this song works amazingly well, I love cool media combinations like this. Have you checked out baroquepopradio? he does stuff like that too.
Anyway this video combines so many things I love: bluegrass, Modest Mouse, Americana, and Kerouac-ian sentiments. I intend on raping the replay button.
Beautiful song, love the harmony singing. The video was a brilliant idea, love the americana.

I prefer this over the original. Thanks for posting. I've surprised many of my friends who thought they would hate bluegrass with this album.

is the intro line not. "spet 18 hours waiting stoned from space"?

@kjp3793 Stoned for space I think. Iron horse changes all the expletives as well.
