NOW I HAVE A NEW GOAL...THANKS! I SUBSCRIBED. I HOPE THAT YOU POST MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS. CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. KEEP IT TOUGH!
Thanks for your comments.....I think skipping on the Bosu is also amazing. Never tried it, but now I will. I will get my clients and myself to work on it. Thanks!
I agree completely with you simon, i'm a personal trainer from australia and reading through the comments on this video, and at that, the comments on most other BOSU videos on youtube, it is very clear that the general public is very uneducated and sometimes very ignorant. Dont worry, people who matter will understand this video and its training outcomes, the others dont matter. Plus, that is insane, i cant wait to try out this stuff in the gym. Risk is always a factor, people need to learn this
Hey Simon, sup its gus.....I have to comment about injuries with this exercise and I actually enjoyed wiping out on many occassions, at least 10 times and never injured....It toughens you up for starters and it teaches you to get back up, you are only falling from 3 feet man...go play house league or co-ed softball dude
Hey Gus what's up? Long time no see.....How's the going? Thanks for your comments. You are a hard core athlete...and you train hard so I know you see the benefits!.....
Hey, living in toronto now..doing personal training and doing professional chef training at george brown college...gonna mix up the two with work...
Still training hard, missing the sprints though. Still plyomaxing, 22 aerobic box jumps, 14 plyo surfingand one leg bosu squats with 45 plate ...lol so doing pretty good, thanks to what you tought me.
Thanks for your comments...... to better understand, please read my comments below .
Box Jumps do NOT emphasize balance! You land on a solid surface. It trains explosive power! Plyomax surfing = both. Power and balance! Lethal combination for an athlete.
You risk Injury in every competive sports. If you can't avoid the risk of injury during training, how can you in a game? This is advanced training for athletes!
Train balance, be good at balance..! It's as basic as it comes : )
so far i am up to 3 , you are rely amazing, i would like you to see some of the training ideas , all though they are no where near yours, please when you have a time if you can cheque out some of my stuff , by the way you motivate me brother , i love guys that train completely ousted the box
I hope you have PL insurance and I suggest you destroy the video - if you have a claiment for injury the insurer may not pay up if they see the video and then you'll be living out of a box all your life.
Thanks again for commenting.....if you are not an athlete (seem like it!) then please feel free to say what you wish! And I hope you are not a Trainer!
Any serious athlete reading your comments will understand you are a little clueless, and know nothing of PLYOMETRICS!
If you are an athlete and you are complaining about the risk of injury at something as simply as Plyomax surfing then please look for something else to do!
If you just feel like YAPPING, then go ahead fill "your boots"
I'm not denying plymometrics are not good for your (they are as I have stated before). I'm questioning jumping on to an unstable 'tower' - even you over balanced and fell off at the end. What's important here is that professional athetes and coaches are not using this crazy exercise. Injury risk is very high and should be avoided - especially in training.
I think you truly don't understand and seems you want to to...so thanks for trying.
1. Please take the time to look at my official plyomax site, you'll get it!
2. I'm an Athlete & a Coach
3. I train athletes (competitive & professional) Olympians, Canadian athletes, and more
4. I am talking from experience and results.
5. If a 10 time Gold medal Canadian Coach can trust her athletes with Plyomax training......I think you should please take the time to listen to what I have to say!
2. You even quote on the footage " the risk of injury is high".
3. Box jumps are a briliant exercise - I agree, and so is the balancing
4. As I've said before - I'm just questioning doing it onto an unstable tower. Do it on a more stable box (they are available at different heights), you'll be still jumping on the bosu ball and so have the same benefit but without the unnecessary risk of injury that can ruin a career in sport. Hope this helps.
Mike, you are saying in effect that all sports should be avoided, because athletes break their ankles in hockey, basketball, rugby, football, soccer! etc
One wrong move in any sport = injury! A guy recently broke his leg in an NHL game! (Stop hockey?)
That's why you train the core, & muscles that make those "crazy moves" during a game so you DONT injure yourself when it counts.
If you can train to avoid injury during training, those same muscles will help you during the game!
What? Of course not! But doing stunts that can lead to injury in training is reckless and I'm sure your insurer would agree. What are you going to suggest next:
Greasing the beam on gymnastics, skiing blind folded down a mountain (although it would be fun to watch)
You'll notice that the former use solid platforms such as the pommel horse and vault.
There is no benefit to your tower - jump onto the bosu ball on a box instead would be far safer and would get the same training benefit.
What muscles are trained by greasing the beams? Or Blindfolding yourself? Using such examples shows you just don't get it!
Do YOU even realize that jumping on the towers (like you suggest) IS EQUALLY hard and RISKY to someone else? So what NOW? Listen to the aimless arguments of a person JUST because they don't get it! Or quit box jumping because some guy sees no benefit & thinks it's risky in his own opinion?
Obviously this dialogue is going nowhere! ...thanks for stopping by! : )
@plyomaxcoach I think the idea behind this training is good. I dont see why MikeEves have so much trouble with this. He can simply not do this exercise if he dont like it.
Thanks for all your comments on plyomax surfing. In answer to getting higher on the bosu ball, the technique is to practice on the risers and a platform. You can see this in the plyomax jump videos. Next practice jumping some feet off the ground unto the bosu, as you get better add the two techniques.
Thanks for your comments on Plyomax surfing. I can write a book to respond to your question but I'll be brief as I can.
What is the point of Plyomax surfing?
1. To be balanced you have to be OFF balance. If you are tripped during a game this will help you maintain your balance and score "that goal" while crashing down, be it on ice or grass.
2.The best all around athletes train the MUSCLES not the movement. While the arms and legs are moving in the video the abs are doing a lot of work. The inner "balance muscles" are put to work. This will help in any sports.
FACT: Muscles do not work in a vacuum or in isolation.
Instead, they work in groups to accomplish a given task. That's why you work on movement - just look at how nature works. Animals do not work on muscles.

3.Reduced Inhibitions. If you don't break a leg while Plyomax surfing you won't break a leg while doing a crazy move using the same muscles you used in Plyomax surfing during sports. Why? The brains sends a message to the muscles telling it.."we've done this before GO CRAZY!!" :) No inhibitions? NO FEAR!! And that's an athletes' best ace!

There is no point in training like this unless your goal is to be able to jump and balance well on a bosu, although it is impressive that he is able to land balanced on a bosu like that, I just don't see any athletic use,.

4. A true athlete trains all muslces; So can do any movement in any sport!
Bruce Lee, Carl Lewis etc.. even back then they trained muscles! Core conditioning!

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here other than the risk of injury.
Box jumps are good as a seprate exercise as long as the box you are jumping on is stable. But you're only doing one box jump here so it's irrelevent.
The balancing is Ok too but can't undertand why you want to jump into it.
You'd get better results if you kept both these exercises separate and upped the reps.
" A back to Basics" approach would be far better and so would the results.
KIS - keep it simple!

Increasing the risk at training does not increase athletic performance. That's why:-
1. Pro boxers use head guards in training
2. Rugby players do not do contested scrums or full tackles in training
3. Gymnasts use foam pits
4. Parkour athletes use, wait for it stable boxes
5. Trapeze artists use saftey harnesses
6. Judo players do randori with low grades
I never said quit box jumping (many times b4)
Crucially that tower is not designed to be jumped on
Over to the jury your honour.
