  • very nice! The bass player looks like a nerd xD

  • Paul Masvidal is just a great human being, had the pleasure to meet him at their stop in Belfast Northern Ireland recently. Gentleman and his interviews are really a ton more interesting than 99% of musicians. People say don't meet your heros, I say they should just make Masvidal their hero. :P

  • lucky Bulgarians

  • One guy waving his arms, I love you. Lol.

  • This song is indeed complex...idk why there are so many haters after the Focus album....yea that album was great, but they decided to somewhat change their sound because it's what THEY wanted to do....

  • Fuckin' Beautiful!

  • Mavidal's mind screams are just amazing. Only Masvidal can do that!

  • cynic rules

  • Die beste Band der Welt!

  • I've seen Isis, Meshuggah and now Cynic twice. Now I need to see Porcupine Tree once more and I can die a happy man.

  • @CamerOneiric A lucky man you are, I have only seen cynic once, and I would do it a hundrred times over again. Never had the opportunity to see PT though

  • @CamerOneiric severely jealous of cynic and porcupine tree. I must see porcupine tree.

  • So far ahead of they're time.

  • @TheLionKing246 Of course they are, Cynic have voice effects that no other band has right now

  • @SpartanLaserCanon Obscura and Gojira use them sometimes, too. But still, Cynic are out of this world. Severely underrated.

  • @SpartanLaserCanon

What, the vocoder vocals? A lot of other bands have that...

  • @SpartanLaserCanon Yeah the vocoders aren't common in metal but they're very popular.

I believe their first use in popular music was in the Alan Parsons Project's first album, 1976's 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination,' in the song 'The Raven.' It's prog rock (ie, not metal), but well worth a listen to- check it out now if you have the time.

  • @Maddolis dude, Pink Floyd used vocoders a bit more earlier

  • @TheLionKing246 By playing the lowest form of jazz fusion from the '80s with subtle distortion? Good to know.

  • @xjtyu i know what you mean, the new cynic are just not that complex anymore. i recommend the focus album its a brilliant hybrid of jazz and metal.

  • @TheLionKing246 So far of they are time?

  • @TheLionKing246 It's their not they're...

  • @TheLionKing246 excuse me sir, i do believe you mean "their"

  • @TheLionKing246 .....................I kinda get the same feeling. I think this is why they aren't huge thou. Too many people don't have the minds to hear the greatness in this music.

  • those harmonics Paul hits at around 1:20 is just heavenly

  • The Great Band - ultra technical compoced , - Keep the metal faith alive

  • The Great Band - ultra technical compoced ,...Keep the metal faith alive

  • Saw Cynic last night on their US tour opening night (at the El Rey in LA). Amazing concert!!! These guys are relentless on stage. Freakin' amazing musicians!

  • I'm gonna see Cynic headlining at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, July 22nd. Gonna be an awesome concert!

  • that is weird why is the drum set all the way over their?

  • @ethanbowen666 they most likely weren't the headliner.

  • @ethanbowen666 for some reason it seems that they do that with Sean's kit on larger stages. or so i've seen

  • I really wish you had the entire set. if you know where this whole set is please comment with a link.

  • I wonder if the rule of not wearing your band's shirt also applies to Sean or not... =p

  • @ruinawish lol, nah man, hes too fuckin awesome for any rules to apply to him.

  • @materiaplanet Where? Seemed flawless to me.

  • @molotov001 he is making some mistakes. clearly in the solo itself it can be heard the most but its not even that big a deal. professional musicians make errors all the time.... to knit-pick it would just be a waste of time.

  • @molotov001 I had the same discussion on a megadeth video. It was near flawless but very few musicians can actually go without making a few flubs or missing some notes. In guitar hero it would have been a 98% with 5 stars

  • Great band, Paul messes up a bit on stage though. Must have stage fright. But I shouldn't blame him, it's a pretty difficult thing to do - sing and play.

  • @materiaplanet He doesn't mess up he just plays the solo different. and to sing and do the verse riff is incomprehensible anyway haah

  • @materiaplanet i see y u would think that, but he doesnt mess up, he just improvises some of the stuff when he plays live, it's completely intention

  • @bigandres wow that sucks. i've seen them 2x now in less than a year. i've actually got some video footage of their shows.

  • @ bigandres

That's terrible. I really feel pretty fortunate to have been there (Kavarna). Hope you are soon able to see them! :)

  • freakin' talented songwriter masvidal is

  • that's right master yoda...

what a talented songwriter and guitar player...

  • just great !

  • whoa. masvidal is lookin built in this video

  • paul masvidal amazing musician which i saw in Athens...Cynic great concert!

  • I saw them in London and they brought the house down. Dig their new Traced in Air cd songs.

  • They were in Athens? OMG, I would fly all the way there just to see them.
