Every thing being said on the emissions in the manufacuring of these vehicles or the charging is a little ludicrous . Trying to move in the right direction for the safety of this planet should be our only concern. My biggest and more immediate concern is the giant furnace beneath our feet , what happens when all fuel sources are used up . Its proven our core is already shrinking , will shure get cold at night when this becomes one big rock .
This is a beautiful car, but before jumping on electric bandwagon I would like to know the ecological and energy impact from making its batteries. I would not want to make California air cleaner at expense of Chinese air, rivers and soil getting polluted. It is just one small tiny planet after all.
@LeadHammer think of it like this, I own a gas guzler a S600 and i can tell you this when thinking o the battery is making more pollution but what about the engine for a car, the engine oils, grease and chemicals you have to replace every year and some whitch take alot of pollutants to make, its kinda the same if you really think about it. I personaly like this idea of battery powered
There are still pollution created by the power plants in order to charge these electric cars, just because we don't see it doesn't mean electric cars are any better ... what we need are compact cars with smaller, fuel efficient engines ...
@davidhalifax It's something I address briefly in the written review. Where I live in the Pacific NW much of our electricity comes from hydroelectric (and wind is growing).
As for the Forte 5, it's on my list guys but haven't seen it in the press fleet. Same with Elantra and 2012 Civic. Hint, hint, hint...
@DrivenCarReviews ... That's good to know, I live in Canada and I heard that this car's battery will drain off like crazy in cold weather in order to keep the interior occupants warm, but it's a big step towards greener transportation ... BTW, I enjoy the toilet paper test everytime !!!
After Driving the "SPORTS WAGON" Caddy CTS-V to this Electric wagon it's like night and day I would imagine. I can see this as a second car or even the main car in a family that has basic errands and if work is close enough. I would love the part about NO OIL changes and NO radiator to keep maintained and no Exhaust System etc. etc.
what if people steals that cable while the cars charging lol

100 miles? : /
I often make the drive from Northern to Southern California, and I'm afraid that would leave me stranded somewhere in Crow's Landing..

Great test!!!
Now, charge that thing up to 100%, run the same test at 70m/h with the AC and headlights on and the stereo cranked up half way and run it again.
That's way more real world.

@LeadHammer I'm not sure the Chinese care about their environment one way or the other. Oh, and your hammer is made of lead...

@LeadHammer hopefully batteries will be less harmfully composed a decade or so into the future.

I HATE THAT THEY MAKE HYBRID AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES LESS ATTRACTIVE THAN MOST GASOLINE COUNTERPARTS.
