The only problem that I have about this game is that the atmosphere lacks severely for it to be considered a Silent Hill game...I remember playing 1, 2, 3, 4 and those used to scare me because of the sound effects put into the background to make it seem like something was there when it wasn't by the genius Akira Yamaoka. The atmoshpere was scary, twisted and morbid. Now since Team Silent doesn't work on this series anymore, I've just stopped trying to play the new games all together.

Yeah because there is no reason for cheats since you can't freaking fight. I watched though it and other then the disappointment of no battling system Amazing story line and graphics. It is a REIMAGINATION though not a remake, thus will not follow the story line and has a twist at the end.

Don't know why it's out for PS2 and not 3, but in the case of the Wii, Shattered Memories is more or less designed for it.

The game itself looks promising. I sat through Silent Hill 1 and 2 and played through Silent Hill 3. I never touched 4 but seen screenshots. Played through Homecoming (Okay game BTW) and hopefully this game is good, even with all the changes.

This game would be a lot cooler in my opinion if it stuck with a more Silent Hill-ish look with the Otherworld. It doesn't have to be all red and fiery, it could be like Silent Hill 2's Otherworld, and it could have its own sort of take, but I think the icey-thing is taking it just a bit too far. Silent Hill is popular because of its thematic look and feel.

Also I wish they would create a new, unique story instead of messing with the story of the first game.

before cople of days i turned on my play 1 and inserted silent hill 1 , passed it till the end and enjoyed it again after so much time...so i hope this game aint gonna disappoint me... it looks good but i would prefer rust and more blood like in sh1 because u shit ur pants more that way. peace.

I like ice as his "hell". If you read Dante's Inferno it's the final circle of hell that's a lake of ice. It also reflects a different character's fear. Angela's hell was one of her always surrounded by fire; consequently, the idea that the environment of one person's hell is unique is a good quality to have in game. Lack of fixed angles is replaced with good chase scenes (which I find scarier and less frustrating). I'm not saying it's better, I'm just curious to see what it could be like.

I agree, he did see snow in the original, the idea of ash came only from the movie. Still I don't really like the idea of the alternate world being ice. :/ I like the freaky rust and burnt world. It's Silent Hill tradition! (And ya don't monkey with tradition) ;) That's like taking the Zombies out of Resi. :)

From what I've seen of the game play so far there are lots of bits and features in it that aren't in the PS1 version.

@bloodrayne1000: I don't know why you're thumbed down, twice, as your question is pretty fair. I'm going to see how it turns out first, as it's complitely build working with Wii remote and all these touch puzzles sound damn interesting, I'd love to see how they're gonna to pull those out with regular PS2 controller. They propably have to redesign all puzzles and that would be okay, because that means there's good reason enough to get both versions! :)

This is in fact Silent Hill, because you know in the first Silent Hill...it's snow, Harry even says it at the beginning of the game. "Snow?" What does that single word question mean? Does "Snow?" mean...meteor shower? Does it mean it's snowing small children? No!! It means...OMG it's snowing. At no point did Harry point up at the sky and go. "Holy S@#$ that's ash!!" Plus, as to everything turning red, did it all turn red in Silent Hill 2 and 3? No...it didn't. *Enjoys him some coffee.* Pwned bch

ive seen the gameplay already, this is not silent hill, it might say it is but silent hill was never supposed to be in ice, it was ashes not snow and it would turn into a nightmare when things turned bloody rusty red not icy, i dont know why konami did this to there franchise, anyone who would think that this is better than any other SH game is clearly insane. But i will still buy the game, just cause its silent hill

The rust is only part of alessas otherworld, so no, thats not required.

because...well it's the same game, but the Wii controls give it more of an "edge" when it comes to actually playing it. makes the gameplay more close to you. try out both of them. maybe at a friend's house or something. you'll see the difference. it was the same with RE4.
