@TheLegendOfRandy It's inspirational in that Petit is a man with a dream that consumes him and he must act upon it. When I saw the film, I was really inspired too...not to walk between buildings, good lord no; but to stop listening to people who say something can't be done.
@tpuppy78 Thanks for the response, very well said. I love cinema, but this doesn't seem like a piece I would particularly enjoy. Just glad to finally understand what the mass appeal of this movie is all about.
i heard of him at schoolthey were reading a book about him but i wasn't cause i couldn't really speak english.. then after 2 months i typed net on google imagines randomly and i saw his picture and i couldnt remember who was it but i remembered that he was the man on the wire and i searched for his name and typed it on youtube and got more interested..
He deserves a medal or something. How could he do it , he is freak of nature . Was so gald i watched this on tv the other night, instead of all the other 9/11 things. But why isn't this so popular , i only first heard about him now? They need to make a movie in the cinema on this He was on there to for nearly 1 hour.
this movie is a scam, 1 hour of drama and footage of everything, the guy eating, fighting, travelling, but there is no damn footage of the guy walking between the fucking towers. WTF.
He did do it. There was just no movie camera up there to record it. They had it, but it was too heavy and they were too tired to rig it up so they never got to record it, but they have photographic pictures, and hundreds of thousands of people that were witnesses to it.
whats really amazing bout this story is the way the american authorities viewed this event....typical american ignorance and retardation....no wonder the world views the usa and its people with such contempt
americans are nothing but idiots who else presses charges and then deports his friends for doing something that didnt harm any one....typical american idiots the only thing funny about america is when a terrorist attacks them....
I liked the film, but Philippe Petit's an asshole. He really screwed over those who made his experience possible. I liked his passion, but in the end, he wasn't grateful for those involved who risked their own ass to help him.
It documents him using people to achieve his goal. Immediately upon achieving his goal, he cheats on his girlfriend and could care less that his friends get expelled from the U.S. He's the most self centered person I've ever witnessed.
@alwaysauthentic1 lol yea seriously between him and the american authorities i dont know who were the bigger ass wipes....probably the americans because at least philipe who is human and was inundated with fame did what was only natural...the american authorities did an unnatural thing i can see if someone who wasnt involved was hurt by this event MAYBE pressing charges, but other wise the only thing that was hurt was the ego of the police (cops deserve to be killed) and security
@ilovealexjones1 When you throw American authority into the mix...hands down their much bigger assholes, or any authority for that matter. I disliked how the Philippe dude had no loyalty toward his friends. I was really surprised this wasn't a common theme among these forums. If he did fall, those involved could have been charged with murder & all kinds of stuff. He gets a parade & his friends get permanently expelled from the U.S. He could care less. He never talks to them again.
@alwaysauthentic1 disagreements with American authority, and the legal system for that matter. You are very, very annoying, and I wish that you would please stop with your comments. Your analogical comparison between Go Daddy and this movie was nothing less than idiotic. How are the depictions of women in any way analogous to this documentary? I would love to know what constitutes your lofty existence, and what makes you better than Americans and everyone who enjoyed this documentary.
@alwaysauthentic1 But thank you for your failed attempt to teach me something over a youtube video. I hate responding to people like this, but I can tell that I really hate you. I'm so glad that bashing people and spreading nonsense via convoluted, half-witted stupidity fills your pseudo-intellectual mind with satisfaction. Have a nice day, and fuck you.
@mootleRoll yea and you are just a stupid piece of shit...typical american jack ass...so some guy doing what he wants to do...basicly achieve his dream something he has been training for and preparing most of his life is stupid ??? next time you come close to achieveing your dream (which you wont you are a piece of shit) just remember how stupid it is....
@74project he reminds you of yourself....you must not be that great of a guy....you must have totally missed the ending of this movie if you even saw it...where they explain and he explains him self how he cheats on his girl friend immeadatly after and allowed his friends to be criminal charged (while he got off his charges, i mean seriously?? i woudlnt have accepted any plea deal unless it involved my friends as well) i doubt that philippe even saw his old friends again....
There is a children's book on this, i found during research from my children's lit class, the art, while nothing different from any other book in terms of quality, had such a massive sense of scale to it gave me vertigo, and the very last page said "Now the towers are gone."

This is an awesome film, well worth seeing on a theater screen if you can find it. Scary, inspiring and hugely entertaining. Philippe Petit must have been born without the fear gene!
Petit reminds me that there is greatness in human beings. My response to the film was equal parts wonderment and humility. .... part of the beauty-- his friends.
loved it. One of the most suspenseful films I've ever watched (even though that's probably got a lot to do with the fact that I'm terrified of heights lol)

Couldn't even breath when he hang on the wire. incroyable courage, nothing is impossible if you truly believe in what you do, you should go for it. I agree that he have the biggest balls in the world.
Neosapience, listen to the Oscar acceptance speech of the filmmakers. They, too, urged their children to follow their dreams but to "not do what this man does." However, they still feel Phillipe proved that nothing is impossible, and that's why they made this movie.
If you want something in life, nothing is impossible, so reach out and grab it. He didnt say for every kids to do what he did but he wants us to conquer our fear and purse our dreams.
And life is not fun when you don't risk anything. He didnt show bravery, he's living his life to the full extent.
Never knew what to expect from this docu/film, but I was rivited and was one of the best I've seen. He was a fearless man and he saw the beauty in what he done which no one else could see, everyone just thought he was a nutter.....
With stil and fun, they made really a great and timeless docu. Maybe this docu heals some wounds of 9/11. we should remember the good things of the Twin Towers and not the worst end.

Foolishly risking your life for publicity is not bravery. Would you want your kid doing something like this? I think not.

You need to see the movie.

I found this disappointing, very...once you know the basic story, that's all about you need to know. The walker really bothered me. Just my opinion.
