When i saw Shane return with the respirator, i thought that Otis had died an honorable death, sacrificing himself to save the little boy. And then i saw this scene, and was totally shocked! He killed Otis?! That's just horrible!
For the people that question why Shane didn't just shoot him in the head, apparently Walkers like live bait better, and if he put Otis down a lot would probably still go for Shane..
When I watched this I thought of the same exact thing that everyone is thinking. Instead of being an ass in shooting him in the knee, he should shot him in the head because for one, for Otis not to have such a painful death, and two too have more time.
I'm sad for Otis. I never really liked shane but he gets the jobdone. He did what ever it took to save the equipment. He saved carl and by extent everyone else because Rick was giving to much blood, Carl was dying, Lori would never have kept on living if the died and Rick was the leader who was strong enough to keep everyone alive. If I had to choose i would pick Rick as a leader then if he died Shane because even though he's starting to loose it he gets the job done.

Best part of this season so far was a really good twist ending. Personally I see the logic in Shane's plan. But what makes it cowardly is that Shane could have done what he said Otis did in his lie. Just told Otis he would cover him an then run into the walkers to be the bait.
I think this was just a last-ditch effort. If you remember, Shane DID tell Otis to take everything, leave him behind, and head back to camp with the supplies. Granted, Otis refused, but Shane still made the offer.

It's like a Jekyll and Hyde-thing, more or less. Rick is the empathetic and sympathetic side of man -- what makes a person a person -- while Shane worries more about living than retaining his humanity.
Neither side is "wrong". It's just two different ideaologies, and I hope the writers break away from the comics and perhaps have a couple members of Rick's group join Shane for whatever reasons to give the audience more to debate about.
It's easy to say that you wouldn't sacrifice Otis from the comfort of your chair, but what would you really do? What if you were in that situation? I'm sure Shane would be saying the same thing - "No, I wouldn't!", but you actually have to be in that kind of situation to know what you'll actually do.

He did what he had to do in order to make it back to carl. Also he did not kill Otis as he was clearly killed by zombies. Shane just left him t die after he shot his knee. For it to be a kill, the zombies would not have been involved.

I think Shane simply lost control. They can reach the bus. He did that simply because he was unable to keep himself calm. He is dangerous and I think is not all there. Moreover he could shoot Otis in the head instead of causing a so agonizing death. He was a moron. I think every soldier watching that video would be disgusted. Best part of this season so far was a really good twist ending. Personally I see the logic in Shane's plan. But what makes it cowardly is that Shane could have done what he said Otis did in his lie. Just told Otis he would cover him an then run into the walkers to be the bait.

I think this was just a last-ditch effort. If you remember, Shane DID tell Otis to take everything, leave him behind, and head back to camp with the supplies. Granted, Otis refused, but Shane still made the offer.

It's like a Jekyll and Hyde-thing, more or less. Rick is the empathetic and sympathetic side of man -- what makes a person a person -- while Shane worries more about living than retaining his humanity.
Neither side is "wrong". It's just two different ideaologies, and I hope the writers break away from the comics and perhaps have a couple members of Rick's group join Shane for whatever reasons to give the audience more to debate about.

He did what he had to do in order to make it back to carl. Also he did not kill Otis as he was clearly killed by zombies. Shane just left him t die after he shot his knee. For it to be a kill, the zombies would not have been involved.
