Why so expensive. Well in dubai the less digits on a plate the more it's worth. To have a plate that has only the number 1 is rare. (you would have to be close the kings great great great son. ) So they auction them off for really ridiculous prices. For example i dare you to go to the DMV or license plate office wherever you are and get a plate that has only one digit (1). some sheiks by A380's some buy sand.(no kidding)

I once saw RAJ 1 on A red Ferrari in the UK, I can assure you that even if the car is worth over 200k, the plate is worth more. F1 sold for £440k in Jan 08 and S1 recently sold for 404k in Sep 08 during the credit crunch!
