Queen Isabella I of the Kingdom of Castile, King Nebuchadnezzar II of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, Sapa Inca Pachacuti of the Kingdom of Cusco; fantastic leaders of their peoples.
The Alhambra symbolizes the final defeat of Islam in southern Spain. Unlike the Italian peepz of SouthernBrownMan below, who in Roman times absorbed just about any pagan and early Christian North African and Middle Eastern they imported into their country. A suitable background for an Italian leader: the baths of the Afro-Syrian "Roman" emperor Caracalla, LOL!
@edovardoful Yes, most of the text in the subtitles are generic lines that appear for all leaders, and are not an actual translation of what they're saying. As far as I can tell, only the very first "introduction" line text varies between each leader. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it's an exact translation either.
@Mannison11 You obviously don't know it well enough if you don't know about the ancient Akkadian language, which belonged to the East Semitic branch (which became extinct). He does speak Aramaic. Remember that there are many dialects of Aramaic which are not mutually intelligible, which is why you might not understand him.
@Mannison11 He speaks Aramaic here. The ancient language of the Assyrians is Akkadian, which was slowly being replaced by Aramaic over 2500 years ago. Arabs are just as Caucasian as Assyrians (neither of which are races).
@tFighterPilot He's not speaking Aramaic in this, the ancient language of the assyrians is aramaic..whatever nebud speaks in this game is basically the same as darius, which is not persian either, I read and write in aramaic and assyrian and i can definitely tell you this is not that. And once again Ancient Assyrians did not speak Akkadian, Akkadian's didn't have a language of their own, they spoke aramaic just like everyone else in the kingdom. sumeria was the only one to change it up a bit.
It's not akkadian, it's Assyrian. The akkadians, chaldeans, ur, and babylonians along with the assyrians all spoke Aramaec which is Ancient Assyrian. There are 4 million left of us world wide we are an endangered specie so to speak
@Mannison11 Actually, it is Akkadian. The Assyrians spoke Assyrian, of course, and the Akkadian language was used by the Babylonians, who later conquered Assyria. This is Nebuchadnezzar II, the Chaldean king who rebuilt Babylon, and he spoke Akkadian, the language used around Mesopotamia at the time. But Assyrian, Akkadian, and Sumerian are offshoots of the same common language which started around Mesopotamia.
@Keinym Akkadian was never a language, all the nations chaldean, akkadian, summerian, babylonian, and assyrian spoke aramaec. The language my people speak today is known as neo-aramaec. Akkadian along with Sumer and Chaldean were all different tribes in the greater babylonian/assyrian kingdom. And nebud was not chaldean, no king came from the chaldeans, at the time they were the scholars and what not of the age the summerians, akkadians were the warrior tribes.
Babylon and Assyria are not the same in the least! The Assyrian capital of Nineveh was burned by the Chaldean people, who were helped by the Medes.
Babylon came to power when the Amorites invaded and conquered Sumer around 2000 B.C. That was around the time when Hammurabi ruled. Then around 800 or so, Assyria conquered Babylonia, and that was when they reined. In 612 B.C. Nineveh was burned by the Chaldean people, who restored Babyon, and that was where Nebuchadnezzar comes from.

@Sandraeli1 Yep! Spain of XV century was a very religious age, especially this queen surnamed "Isabel la Catolica", more or less in the same age born a religious institution named.....Inquisition O_O
reading the comments im geussing Montazuma isnt the asshole in the game anymore, Civ 5 is alot more expanding than civ 4 was. so i havent had the chance to meet montazuma let alone war really. civ 4 was mostly war, civ 5 is ALOT of growing, wich is fine by me :P
@eurovisionaire because they are one of the most ancient and were the most powerful civilizations before the spanish came. if you studied history you can see that the Incas had control over entire south america while the aztecs and mayan had central and some parts of north america
@OOSbase The Incas only had the central Andes which is only like 1/5 of South America, the mayans were never unified, it was just a culture like the plains native americans, and the Aztecs didn't really have an empire, they were a powerful city-state that didn't conquer neighbors, they just demanded tribute, kind of like a Mesoamerican Sparta. Though I do agree that they were powerful civilizations.
@mrdeim2: no, the real ass hat is that goddamn Alexander! He hogs every city state, picks on the weak, has horrendous deal making skills, and then comes begging for mercy like a pathetic coward when Me and some other civs take a city or two out of his huge empire. He's like a five year old spoiled brat!
I really like Civ V now that they fixed a lot of the bugs in it, but they really need to address the gender specific titles that they give for leaders. I mean Lord Catherine of the Russians, please... if she heard that for real she would send you to the gallows hehe.
@metodex On the bright side the gave her the palace of the Alhambra as a background which historically was one of her biggest goals in life, plus her "repugnante prole del diablo" is hilarious!
i know she was extremely religious (she began the inquisition) but it seems a little overkill to totally cover all of Isabella's hair. not even in her paintings is her hair completley covered....
Isabela is a real bitch in the game! Forget Gandhi, she is ultimate evil! First she expanded towards me, then backstabbes me and then surrounds me with cities and tried to kill me the houl game. Trust me SHE is EVIIIL!!! All the other civs hated her and she still tried to kill me!
@PeaceSoldier She is still an angel compared to that jackass Augustus, I'd like to play one game were the Romans don't try to take up all the fucking land and destroy all city-states -.-
Can you upload the 'Setup Installer" file onto mediafire or anywhere else and post the link so we can download it for free? I wanted to buy them but I don't have a credit card. DX
@ashtonmadhatter Really? She looked like a red-head in almost all paintings I have seen of her, blue-eyes and blond hair was also extremly rare at spain back then before their was significant migration from northern europe
@Jaahaah It actually wasn't really that rare. This was a typical trait of the Trastámara family, who were descendants of Peter I of Castile, because he married the daughter of King Edward III of England (hence the fair complection and light hair and eyes).
@leopardhunter99 You have to buy them. If you can do it, they're worth it.
Nebuchadnezzar has the trait, Ingenuity: Receive free Great Scientist when you discover Writing. Earn Great Scientists at double the usual rate.
Isabella, Seven Cities of Gold: Gold bonus for discovering a Natural Wonder (bonus enhanced if first to discover it). Culture, happiness and tile yields from Natural Wonders doubled.
@leopardhunter99 Pachacuti and Isabella together costs 5€ for me, but that's because I live in Europe. Nebuchadnezzar is 3,49€. Yeah on Steam, that's where you can buy them.
Pachacuti, Great Andean Road: Units ignore terrain costs when moving into any tile with Hills. No maintenance costs for improvements in Hills; half cost elsewhere.
For some reason... I always get a glitch where Isabella has a mustache lol

PeaceSoldier 1 year ago
@PeaceSoldier She is still an angel compared to that jackass Augustus, I'd like to play one game were the Romans don't try to take up all the fucking land and destroy all city-states -.-

Nebuchadnezzar is speaking Akkadian, right? Can anyone translate it? And Pachacuti is presumably speaking Cuzco Quechua.

Isabella sounds too mild and non-regal to be Queen of Spain.

Can you upload the 'Setup Installer" file onto mediafire or anywhere else and post the link so we can download it for free? I wanted to buy them but I don't have a credit card. DX

They never depict Isabella correctly. Apparently she was very fair, she had blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair.
ashtonmadhatter 1 year ago
@ashtonmadhatter Really? She looked like a red-head in almost all paintings I have seen of her, blue-eyes and blond hair was also extremly rare at spain back then before their was significant migration from northern europe
Jaahaah 1 year ago
@Jaahaah It actually wasn't really that rare. This was a typical trait of the Trastámara family, who were descendants of Peter I of Castile, because he married the daughter of King Edward III of England (hence the fair complection and light hair and eyes).

Why does Pachacuti have a European Halberdier?

Isabella:
God blesses those who deserve it. I am Isabella of Spain
Proceed.
Very well.
We refuse.
Horrible, just like the devil.
That is unacceptable.
almabeer 1 year ago
@almabeer When you say "Horrible, just like the devil" she actually says "You repulsive offspring of the devil, you'll pay"

DARVGH1 8 months ago
How do you get these? I have Genghis Khan but not these guys.
leopardhunter99 1 year ago
@leopardhunter99 You have to buy them. If you can do it, they're worth it.
Nebuchadnezzar has the trait, Ingenuity: Receive free Great Scientist when you discover Writing. Earn Great Scientists at double the usual rate.
Isabella, Seven Cities of Gold: Gold bonus for discovering a Natural Wonder (bonus enhanced if first to discover it). Culture, happiness and tile yields from Natural Wonders doubled.
skummelhustler 1 year ago
@skummelhustler Like buy them online? Or is there an expansion for it? And how much do they cost?
leopardhunter99 1 year ago
@leopardhunter99 Pachacuti and Isabella together costs 5€ for me, but that's because I live in Europe. Nebuchadnezzar is 3,49€. Yeah on Steam, that's where you can buy them.
skummelhustler 1 year ago
@leopardhunter99 Oh, I figured out where, well I won't buy them now because I bought Civ 5 last week, but this patch for the game, what does it fix?
leopardhunter99 1 year ago
@leopardhunter99 The recent update? Just some minor glitches, crashes and bugs.
skummelhustler 1 year ago
@skummelhustler Does that patch fix the things that everybody are complaining about?
PS: In an expansion they should improve the voice acting, because the voice acting in this game leaves a lot to be desired.
Grax638 1 year ago
@leopardhunter99
Pachacuti, Great Andean Road: Units ignore terrain costs when moving into any tile with Hills. No maintenance costs for improvements in Hills; half cost elsewhere.
skummelhustler 1 year ago
Wow Isabella looks very sexxi lol and I'm glad to see the Incan civilization in the game because I love the indigenous cultures of the Americas
the only problem is I have to pay a fee :(
