I was there too, Hamish Grimes who did the intro and designed the YaRdbiRdS was a friend of mine. He also took the pics. The whole of the Five Live Yardbirds cover was by Hamish. RIP
@ClubMarquee That's cool too!!! ah yes I remember "He as so excited he said "Here they are the live five yardbirds" ( and it's on the album of course).. I assume that you also saw the Who played on Tues or Thurs and Rod Stewart playing between the other acts... The yardbirds kicked of my whole love of blues, jazz etc.... trumped only by seeing Jim Morrison/Doors for 2 nights at the Roundhouse ...aah but that's another story!! great to hear your memories. Didn't know about Hamish.
A little piece of history: I was there (yes I'm not young). Marquee club London record over 3 Fridays (maybe 2) this was the first track recorded in the first session. (Ah but.. half through Clapton broke a string so they had to stop and rerecorded it later). 2m 49 into this track is the riff that probably got me hooked. on clapton forever.. Just before "respectable on the album I'm the idiot who yells yey!!! I think they charged 1 pound to get in.
@beatleboy123 I did meet Eric a couple of times. I actually bought him a drink before he went on as lead singer at 4th? National Jazz and Blues festival when poor Keith Relf was sick.. in Reading I think. I remember him being nervous ... (yeah like he needed to worry). Marquee had Who on Tues/Thurs, Rod Stewart playing acoustic between other acts, Moody blues, etc. I remember it being unbelievably hot and sweaty and coming out on a cold night dripping wet. Hope they put in A/C!
I'm a huge fan as well. Their songs define allot of the 60's for me. I would love to have been there when they recorded this song...Here Tis rocks! I found this band called The RaveUps doing a really good job of keeping The Yardbirds alive! They even do here Tis...not bad at all!

Paul Samwell Smith was definitely among the more underrated bass players in the business . Just listen to his work on this song .
