This was another "OMG-I forgot this existed" 12" that I found at my M&D's the other week - an early 80's classic on 11/11/11-enjoy! Ps unless you're beatin me door down or tryin to knick me car, I'm a pacifist - whilst I appreciate what the sacrifice has been on both sides of many wars, if everyone chose to stay home & be with their family instead of checking in with the army in any given war throughout history, there wouldn't be any need for remembrance day-would there? I peace for peace, I do
@luckysimon7 it wasn't the vinyl jumping, it was the software I used to rip the vinyl to my old hard drive. Vinyl should not jump if you have a decent set up - it's also uncompressed like CD & MP3.
Great song...believe it was on the flipside of the Nowhere Girl EP. Had to order a new belt for my Technics turntable so I can listen to these vinyl classics for another 20 years-God willing.
terence smith played this for me all those years ago. the older i get the more i of course understand the poignancy of the song but also how much i enjoyed my youth - all those years ago. where are you tez!
My God.........I bought this on single when it came out........that cover brings back memories............some bastard nicked the record I've been looking for it for yonks.I think it was last year when a 3 disc compilation came out called "The Edge of the Eighties" and it was on there............It was a poxy remake, never been so let down. But it was great to hear this original.Thanks.pity about the jump near the end but thats vinyl for ya.
@talktal I used to think that too, but as it turns out The Faint actually got permission to use the progression from B-Movie, and they credit Remembrance Day in the liner notes of that album. Pretty cool of them to not take the easy route and just rip em off.
If you like this check out 1981 blitz dance party as a search for a similar band playing at a new-romantic dance party in Montreal, Canada, great stuff!
Nice to see that bands like White Lies have raided their parents record collections and obviously found this gem! Seem to remember having it on a flexi-disk. Remember them?
Got this today on 7 inch single for 49p LOL

my dad introduced me to B Movie last year, such a good band. even though i wasn't alive in the 80s i don't understand how they never made it big.

Brilliant song. Whatever happened to B Movie? They should've been huge.

Loved this band , they filled the void for me between punk ending and Early goth starting........Great days.!!

Indie disco floor filler from the golden era of post-punk when anything was possible.
Bands went for it and sometimes achieved fleeting mastery of their field. This is such a complete tune.

This is a classic song from the early 80's. The band had some great songs and should have had more recognition

I'd go as far to say this is one of the best records of all time and this band deserved to be massive.
markdelaney 2 years ago
markdelaney, please let's not get carried away!
'Remembrance Day' is a pretty good song but there are hundreds of much better New Wave records.
I've heard 2 other versions and this one is my favourite.
I'm not sure B-Movie can be considered a New Romantic band. They sound a bit like early Spandau Ballet but that's about it.
