heres the deal. bluedev791 is correct. a more accurate name would be the triple stroke roll. i personally have never heard it called a french roll nor do i really care. WHAT IT IS NOT is a triplet roll. To say it was a triplet roll you would have to know the tempo to decide whether he is playing 3 beats in the space of 2. Just like it is easy to say its a triplet roll, someone else could say its sixlets. It could be a variety of different tuplets or notes. it all has to relate to the tempo tho
