  • Not only a nice layout but very good quality video. It's tiring trying to find model railroad videos consisting of more than one or two pixels recorded by someone having a seizure.

  • @olmecbones Thanks for the kind words, mate

  • That is the mostrealistic model railroad I have eve seen, really a great job Jon. Thanks for posting the video. Pete

  • @PeteM234 Thanks mate, too kind

  • @PeteM234 I second that! By far the most realistic scene i've come across.

  • Do you know if this decoder works on DC>analog? I have had few factory equipped QSI locomotives, but I am not sure if they are the same as this decoder? Does the Revolution have the voice over programming for analog? I have too small a layout to bother with DCC expense, but I do want to equip my kitbashed atlas s4 with sound. So far I was stuck with maybe a MRC decoder which I know is inferior to these.

  • @ghfakar I think there is a DC option for QSI Revolution, but the decoder has now been discontinued pending the introduction of a newer version

  • this is a beautiful layout

  • Man, this railroad looks fantastic. Best city switch scene(s) ever.

  • wow thats a very nice layout where you at

  • @chrisjct Thanks, Chris. I'm English and am living in Northern England

  • i notice the sound seems a bit high, if i reduced the volume from factory default 127 (from q2 upgrade) to 100 or 90, would that make the sound better, or do i need to use high bass speakers? overall...very nice video.

  • Sorry for my poor english. I having two questions to you. Where did you put the speaker inside the loco shell. Used the same speaker that comes with the QSI revolution or you put a different smaller?

  • @generalgp76 I used a 1 1/4 inch rectangular speaker and placed it face down in the cab, after taking out the interior detail. The inside of the cab acts as the speaker baffle

  • @JonGrant4472 - Thank you very much for your fast reply Jon. Great job with this QSI in this loco, amazing sound!!! Best regards. Julio

  • @JonGrant4472 thanks for the notes. I also have a Alco s1, (2 of them)with a MRC sound unit. I was able to keep the interiors and placed the speaker where the fuel tank was. If you search my vids I have a quick clip of one on my layout. They are great little switchers

  • Very nice layout and great videos. Thanks for posting.

  • sounds awesome!

  • where did you hide the speaker? that shell has barely the room for a decoder. I have 2 of the P2K S1 and they were "fun" fitting the ESU decoders!

  • @Lmackattack I used a 1 1/4 inch rectangular speaker and placed it face down in the cab, after taking out the interior detail. The inside of the cab acts as the speaker baffle

  • Can we get the original video of this?

  • Nice detail on the layout

  • Beautiful Layout!

  • The s1 has no turbo so should have different sound, the s2 has a turbo.

  • Agreed. I spotted the error shortly after sticking the film on here and have turned the turbo sound down to zero on the QSI Revolution decoder - the right sound is on my clip of the NYC Alco S1

  • You can turn the turbo sound down!?

    cool.

    Lovely layout BTW.

  • I just ordered a h1--44 by proto, proto 2000 or something, how do u rate them? smooth?

  • Nice layout. Very nice layout! Can practically picture walking there in the 'city'.

  • nice sound, nice layout, how can I get nice grass patches like you have next to tracks?

  • Look for a product called Silflor, or something similar available from Scenic Express, in Texas

  • Jon:

Ok, I've got some of these that I'd like to retrofit sound into. How did you do it?

    Thanks,

    John Loesch

  • excelente amigo el video...cool

  • Incredible, well done!

  • Fantastic layout! What are the dimensions? Would you mind sharing your trackplan?

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • The layout and sound are just simply fantastic and that's putting it mildly, a big A+ for this video, thank-you!

  • that looks real

one of the few examples of good modeling on youtube

  • Very nice!

what is the green in the middle of the track is it static grass..?

  • I used Silflor mat by tearing off small tufts at a time and gluing down individually

  • Beutiful layout.

The sound is good but they allways have that small radio in a big room sound effect.

    Stil good though.

  • Was the S1 turbo charged? or which of the S units were besides the S4....

  • I found out that the S1 and S3 were not turbocharged. I also found out how to turn the turbo sound off - both after this video was shot and have now corrected the error

  • lol i was thinking this was real .

  • Very realistic looking layout!

  • what model number is the decoder?

  • Jon, your modeling and videos are fantastic.

  • HELLO IM NEW IN THE SOUN EQUIPED WATH YOU RECOMENDED QSI or LOK SOUND¿? SORRY MY ENGLISH ITS BAD

  • Hello there.

I would use QSI Revolution as long as they do the sound of the locomotive I am fitting with DCC sound. The decoder is more user-friendly.

    Regards

    Jon

  • I prefer Tsunami. :) That does sound good I must say! QSI has always had the best horns.

  • your videos are awsome!!!

    and now in high quality...

  • Outstanding!!! You have just raise the bar about 10 noches for all of us trying to make decent model train videos. That was great!!! I enjoyed every minute of it! That was so real. One of (if not the) best on utube!

  • I was thinking Getting A Alco S1 for christmas But Very Great Video

  • u got a lot of detail in the layout looks pretty real. GREAT WORK.

  • Very nice video. What kind of camera are you using to film this? Sure is clear.

  • Sony Handycam SR36. I am still getting used to it and have just discovered the picture mode for indoor shooting

  • Good Video very nice Layout

  • I have watched many of your videos, but this is the first time I am comenting on it. The detail on your layout and the perspective shots are perfect. Really fine modeling. Very impressed by the work you have done.

    Chesticus

  • Thanks, mate
