  • in australia we call them paddle pops xD

  • I totally agree with you 100%. I'm a new viewer and I love youtubers like you because Your one of those youtubers who just off the bat people can tell that your genuine and just simply care about others and others decisions/life choices because you've been there before. So i subbed to you! (BTW i love your hair!)

  • ok, so ignorant is an extreme understatement

  • MIssion Beach is great..much better surf than OB. anyways, i agree with you 110% with the hate crimes. There are ignorant people everywere. The truth hurts, and they will always be there, unfortunately.

  • I know this wasn't the main point of your video.. But the reason I eat Laffy Taffy is because of the jokes. You don't get only one, you get TWO jokes per candy! Great video, I liked what you said about wanting to be comfortable and not be looked at twice for being gay. All of the Beaver Bunch have really insightful thoughts and opinions and it's cool to hear them! Thanks for doing this every week :)

  • Unfortunately, there are alot of sick, selfish, heartless people in the world...And alot of them are also "running" this country. Yeah we may be a bit free-er than other countries, but alot of our basic ones are illusions. They still try their hardest to control us.

  • Heydo you know how much she needs to get her nose fixed. wanna donate but not sure what amount would be sensible. i'm in the uk and this stuff would be free on the NHS

  • I cannot believe this is still happening... I mean... please... 2009!!! and in a state like California... this is so sad that still to this day... there is not justice for all.

  • i like the way you eat that popsicle

  • I saw Rythm at the indie fest =) thats really kind of shocking that you can see and talk to someone and have that happen to them like a week later.

I live in San Diego also and I love Hillcrest! :D

  • Good Hummer had the jokes/still do :)

  • i agree the name is gross but fudgesicles were like the highlight of my childhood summer days

  • It's SO stupid. The man isn't even being charged with Hate Crime. It's just assault. how FUCKED is that? I thought boys couldn't hit girls? This guy smacked, and punched her? What the hell 2009?

  • There is no special law against men assaulting women, I don't understand why people believe the "three hit" rule is true.

However, this is disgusting and sad and I hope the justice system sees this for what it really is:

    a brutal hate crime.

My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Rhythm Tuner and her girlfriend. <33 stay strong ladies!

  • what gauge are your ears stretched?

  • i had school saturday and monday :(

  • It's so hard for me to hear that stuff like that happening in places where I want to go in order to feel more comfortable about my orientation. It's just really tough. I hope as a community we can keep moving forward and someday this will be much less of an issue.

  • i watched this video on your channel the other day already and was literally crying my eyes out. thanks for pointing out the paypal link. i am donating right now. :)

  • jess... did you know that May is national bike month??? I just found out

  • Yes it still goes on and it is sad to hear. I know here in Daytona a kid was killed by another kid because of their orientation. Thankfully I've never been attacked physically just verbally. I'm moving to Orlando in a few months though which is a lot better than Daytona. Yes the Prop 8 situation stinks.

  • I'm so sad to hear about this. I really am :'/ i promise you i will go to the site and donate =)

  • worst day of my life i failed my exam n the prop 8 bullshit n now this ........

am very deppressed this is the worst day this year

  • omg

i cant see how people are able to chew ice cream

i get goosebumps when i see them do that

  • I hope that son of a bitch gets his ass whupped.

  • haha. its a girl!

  • Nope.....I watched her video testemony.

She and her girlfriend were assaulted by two dumbass "men".

  • oh! thanks for clearing that up:)

  • No problem. :)

  • hey Jess where do I donate?

  • go to her video and in the description area, they put up a link to the paypal account that will go straight to her. thank you so much for your support - we all appreciate it.

  • cool thanks :)

no problem, I can't believe things like this still happen :/ or even happened at all to begin with,

    All the best

  • Thanks for the video Jess. I'm trying to spread the word about Rhythm, even if I'm on the other side of the atlantic I still want people to know about this.

  • Thank you for sharing Rhythm Turners video. No person should ever be assaulted like that in a society where it's members are capable of rational thinking. See, some people are forgetting the golden rule. If we dont stick up for ourselves, some people will not think of us as human beings with lives and families. Instead we just become punching bags.

  • Rhythm Turner is a survivor; the guy who punched her is an angry fool who is not at peace with himself. If he was, he would be focusing on his own life and on building his own happiness.

  • Don't you feel helpless right now? I do! I hope we can somehow change and evolve and make others see that we are different but not wrong or scary!

  • thank you for the awareness.

  • Something has to change! People react so violent to things they dont know and that they are scared of. Being gay is nothing to be afraid or scared of. It should be something taught in schools at an age where children are able to understand the importance of the subject. Not only that being gay is nothing to be afraid of, but also that being different isnt something bad.

  • America has so many people from different backgrounds; different cultures, different countries and different languages! Shouldnt we all be able to accept or at least tolerate people that dont share the same opinion or lifestyle we do?

  • wow, the first part of the video is really intense and you're right.

  • omg...I am so mad right now

  • These issues need to be addressed. Thank you for posting this video. :) Much love to Rhythm.

  • Wow, it's so terrible that these sorts of things are still happening. Just recently two young boys, around 11 years old, committed suicide because they were being teased because people thought they were gay. Regardless of whether they were or not, these crimes need to stop. We've got to teach people that it's not okay to hate others just because of who they love.

  • You're so west coast; keep looking good ;)

  • I'm spreading the word like wildfire Jess. All the way to Australia!. and yes, let's raise awareness, get people to notice that we as a community are still subject to inequality, discrimination and violent intimidation. My sympathies goes to Rhythm and her family.

  • I'm totally posting Rhythm's video on my facebook. This is ridiculous that it s 2009 and we still have to worry about stuff like this happening...and people wonder why so many people live in the closet. Great video as always Jess. Way to bring this issue up.

  • wow i cant believe something like this happened in san diego in 2009. its weird that i JUST had an argument about gay marriage with my mom today and then to hear about something like this is just horrible!

  • Honestly, I bet people look at you twice because, well, you're quite the hottie.

    Just sayin'.

  • She's in my thoughts and prayers, Jess.

  • hate crimes issues need to taken more seriously. I've lived in mid-west and i know what goes on there, but this happened in SD, it really surprises me.

  • - did those guys ever get charged and was it for a hate crime?

    - whats the size of your gages?

  • "all i know of their hate is that they couldn't beat the love out of me"

    -Andrea Gibson

  • Wow, I love that quote. I'm a quote junkie, and this one is amazing.

  • Hate crimes are so emotionally devastating, that not only effect the victims but communities too. There are still so many barriers that need to be broken down, it is so sad that we cant all be equals in this world, regardless of race, religion, sexuality, so keep believing and stay true to yourself and don't let the hatred in or win.

  • i totally get what you're saying. it reminds me of when a friend at her school which happens to be in a small town in the middle of the state i live in. as soon as i got out, the people just stared at me like i was some kind of side show attraction.

on a lighter note, i hate the word fudgesicle too. i prefer fudgie-wudgie. may be it's just an east coast thing. hope you have a good monday

  • i live on the east coast and have never heard someone call it a fudgie-wudgie, but i love it so im gonna adopt it and try to make it popular! haha

  • well may be it's a just a philly thing. but def go for it!! may be it will be popular if you start it.

  • lol ill work on it..keep you posted.

  • omgosh the jokes!

    I miss those

  • "as a human race". Right On!

    Violence is simply wrong.

  • but with them at the same time. This is possibly one of my most favorite videos you've ever done. No you tube video has ever had such a spell over me as this one did. You're quite possibly the most amazing individual to cross my path (sorta) this year.

    On a lighter note,

Waldo is red and white not so much blue but nice try :).

Glad to see a smile come out of you atleast just once in the video.

    See you Thursday <3.

    love.love.love

    -Heather!

  • I could hear and feel the hurt that overpowered your tone. I has stinging chills all over me and had to hold back from releasing some tears. I felt the exact same way when I watched Rhythym's video the day both you and Mary B posted it. I've already set aside money from my graduation to donate to her. It made me really happy when you said "as a human race" and not just a community cause hate crimes branch out so much farther than just the LGBTQ community. My heart and soul is shattered...

  • I totaly get where you are coming from, I only feel like I am completely comfortable being myself in my "gayborhood"

I watched the video on myspace and reposted it for my friends to see. I really hope that the scum that did this gets real justice!

  • I'm loving the prayer flags in the background. I think they really add to the video.

It is so ridiculous that hate crimes are STILL happening, after all the struggle we have put up. Thank you for spreading awareness. <3

  • I agree with the ray bans.

I posted that video on my facebook because i think it is extremely important for people to realize what is actually going on. although that particular event happened completely on the other side of the country i don't want people to think that it doesn't happen where i am and i don't want people to think that it doesn't matter because it is so far away. I'm part of your community so what happens to you effects me. thats all i have to say.

  • i really appreciate the way you responded. thank you.

  • You're welcome. I just don't think it is fair for people to take these things so lightheartedly. It isn't just one person that is affected and it shouldn't be. The whole community should raise their voices to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. There are plenty of people that this happens to that don't have all of the support that Rhythm has. She is lucky to have friends like you and Mary B.

  • people need to get it together. i mean, if everyone realized that hate gets us nowhere then our world would be a safer and happier place. hate sucks. =(

  • you look like "where's wally?" with that striped beanie and glasses. if you dont know the book google it :-)

  • waldo?

  • you found me :)

  • im staying awake to watch your vids jess^^ everyone is sleeping hehe

  • it's disarming to realize that someone that i don't know, somewhere, hates me and others just because of who we are.

i can't even wrap my brain around it...

  • Hate crimes just make me sad, mad, and every emotion in between. I don't understand why people do stuff like that...maybe I'm just young and naive. At the moment all my love and luck goes to Rhythm Turner. You're right Jess, people need to here about this.

  • It's so shocking, sad and so ridiculous that these issues even exist and need to be addressed in this day and age. My heart goes out to Rhythm and her loved ones.

  • That's so horrible. I'm sorry to hear that. Love and equality is stronger than hate, but hate can still be devastating.

  • ah, thats horible.. ;(

  • you make my mondays better (:

  • whoa, first one to view

    xDD
