It's not necessarily about how much to practice, it's to practice something hard, get good at it, perfecting, then doing something harder.

You can practice as long as you want on a song that's as hard as you can get and not get any better. It's about pushing yourself.

If you want to get good, play the song, and start practicing it slowly and start getting faster til you can eventually play with the song. At first it'll be sloppy but you'll get better.
