Everyone's entiltled to their opinion but, with respect, if you want to hear what you believe to be "good" guitar solos then you're missing the point of this band. Slayer's music is supposed to be obtuse and dissonant - chaotic almost. Anything other than Kerry / Jeff solos would simply take the edge off their unique sound. And we really wouldn't want that.

Metallica just let thier age catch up to them, at no point did they start playing out and out pop music. Reload might suck, St. Failure too- but it sure as hell isn't Nickleback.

Also they didn't have any real ideology to cash out of in the first place that I saw. And with Reload and St. Failure being as unpopular as they are- I wouldn't say they did a good job of "selling out" even if they were trying to.

the misfits Earth A.D. from 1983 is considered by some to be very impmortant to thrash music. of the course the misfits weren't the musicians that slayer and metallica are(though danzig WAS a great lead singer) Earth A.D. did have a thrash sound, but without guitar solos and id say was heavier than pretty much anything up til at least '83. listen to "Green Hell" or "Hellhound."
