The on readings are BASED off Chinese pronounciation. Over the course of a thousand years or so the pronounciations have changed.

cool, I speak Chinese, but I didn't know about the "Chinese" pronunciation (which is different from the real Chinese pronunciation). knowing "shya" helps to understand many derived words!

if 車 in china is different different then taiwanese . china 车 taiwan is 車.ifyou use chinese input program to type you type in "che" which mean 車.
