My teacher taught us that there is no such thing as a pure democracy and there is no such thing as a purely totalitarian government. Every government system is a mixture of different government philosophies. The united States is not a pure democracy but I would argue that it has more democratic characteristics than most other nations.

Tax payers pay for public option. the government would take in for the public option. the governmnet would take in far less than what would be payed out fot healthcare. Why do you think they have to get a 4 year head start on collecting the taxs. I'm a junior in high school and I take a course called Global Systems which is a study of different government, political, and economic systems around the world. My teacher taught us that there is no such thing as a pure democracy and there is no such thing as a purely totalitarian government. Every government system is a mixture of different government philosophies. The united States is not a pure democracy but I would argue that it has more democratic characteristics than most other nations.

It seems like you've mixed together the Public Option (PO) with Single-payer into some weird concoction. They are two very different things. Single-payer is what Canada and almost all European countries have.
The PO is something that requires private companies alongside it, or else it ceases to be the PO.
The PO acts as a private company, only cheaper.

If I get termimally ill, and my insurance says my treatment won't be covered (which happens ALL THE TIME to people) I will find a politician, or a CEO, who helped to block a public option, and I will take them with me, being I would have nothing to lose at that point. The filibuster is not in the constitution and should be gotten rid of. It robs the American people of the right to decide who is in power and who should write legislation. The people they vote out of office and into the minority can block anything they want. Having said that, the Democrats used it to obstruct the Republicans all during the Bush years, and the Republicans should ram it down their throats now for payback. They should agree to end it forever at a predetermined future date.
