  • damn right you get an actor who played the Doctor to report this.

  • Ironic that the actors for The Doctor (two hearts) and dying from heart attacks :S

  • Hartnell passed from heart failure, Troughton and Pertwee from heart attacks. But you know what? I say they didn't die. None of them. They were all Time Lords! More than capable to survive silly human maladies and injuries! They just hopped away, each in their own TARDIS, and flew away for a while. No, they can't be dead. They'll be back. I mean, they all had two hearts. They had more than enough life, love and laughter to supply the whole planet with it for years and years to come.

  • "COLIN BAKER Reporting" ?!?!?!? ;)

  • @BizMarkUK Yes, a bit ironic that the reporter shares the name of the sixth Doctor's actor, isn't it?

  • He was a great actor. RIP.

  • Jon Pertwee, Here's to you. Out all of the 11 doctors, You are the best. May you Travel with your TARDIS forever.

  • i will put a pack of jelly babys ontop his grave

  • Colin Baker Reporting, lol!

  • Too bad he didnt get to see the 11th doctor and a tardis console with the time rotor attatched to the console and the ceiling! :(

  • @jasperminer We are not timelords but still I wish we would be able to regenerate like them!:)

  • He brought a great deal of entertainment to everyone, sadly missed to this day

  • My number 1 doctor.

  • I was only six when I saw this. Even then, I was sad :(

  • not to sound disengenuous or anything bcos it is a tragedy Pertwee is no longer with us (jesus Sladen and Courtney are gone too the UNIT years are slipping away) but these reporters need their facts straight, Pertwee didn't 'launch't he show it'd been around nearly 10 yr when he came along and he was the DOCTOR not Dr who. (also a side note but he was mostly on earth not in space during his tenure)

  • @227060

To the last part: so? It was a nice change from the crazy travels of Hartnell and Troughton. I like the Brig. RIP Pertwee and UNIT.

  • @TheLairOfRockwhales no im not saying that was bad i liked that too i just meant the reporter got his facts wrong bcos Pertwee wasn't usually jetting off around space

  • @227060

ooh sorry I didn't have headphones so I didn't hear him say that lol

  • @227060

That's the way it is and always will be. You can't really explain to people ' Doctor Who is the name of the show, not the name of the hero, except that time in The War Machines and a couple of slightly more ambiguous occasions, one of them in German and of course the end titles up to Season 18 and again in Christopher Eccleston's 2005 season. Am I making myself clear?' every time they call him Doctor Who. Well, I suppose you could but it'd take up a lot of time.

  • @Dubzoomember yes but dammit i've got nothing planned for the next 60 years of my life. i WILL make this happen

  • Colin Baker reporting at 1:12 LOL

  • Wasn't he the Doctor for 5 years?

  • Want to know something creepy?: John Pertwee died 3 days after i was born O____O

  • Colin baker reporting 0.0?

  • @DCMarvel2009 I thought I was the only one who noticed that!

  • he died 7 days before doctor who the movie?

  • @shawnhbkdx90 :( Yes he did... I always had hoped they'd shown him an advance copy...

  • @thecosmichobo is that why they used jon pertwee's doctor who logo in doctor who the movie?

  • @thecosmichobo He Also died three days after i was born!

  • R.I.P jon

  • R.I.P Jon... As well as the recent deaths of some of our other favorite Doctor Who character actors...

R.I.P. Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart (actor Nicolas Courtney - decease early 2011) Sarah Jane Smith (actress Elizabeth Sladen - deceased mid 2011) and 4th Doctor (actor Tom Baker - deceased mid 2013) we miss each of you dearly!!

Long live Dr. Who... and good old fashioned time travel...

  • @GayWorldOrder WTF, Tom Baker 2013?

  • @GayWorldOrder You're either a complete idiot or a complete twat.

  • John Pertwee was my favourite Doctor Who of all time!! RIP John!!

  • Lovely Man! as far as im concerned to best Doctor Who. And a Fine Actor who will be sadly Missed.

  • At Gallifrey One this year some people were telling me what a grand person he was. He is still remembered and missed.

  • I actually remember Jim Waley (the newsreader) saying this on Channel 9's Nightline in 1996, I was 18 and I cried like a little kid, Jon Pertwee will always be a legend.

Reverse The Polarity Of The Neutron Flow. :)

  • I'm glad this was announced in America because it's a known practice that we here do not hear of English actors deaths unless they were really important actors. Last year Both Karl Malden and Mollie Sudgen died the same day. The news talked about Karl, nothing about Mollie who was few months after Wendy Richard. I only stumbled on google to find out about John Inman also last year but he'd died 2-3 yrs prior. I had to tell my friends that most of the cast of Are you being served is dead

  • jon pertwee didn't die he just regenerated into his 2nd form

  • Jon Pertwee, what a guy.

  • I think the New Romantics stole his look. Great times

  • I love him so much. My favourite Classic Doctor xxx

  • i loved worzel and i loved jon. 6 decades though. phewwwwwwww.

  • If the first three actors that played the doctor were still alive and in good health I would like to seen them do a doctor who episode with all the dcotors

  • @Jamescs007 They recast the First Doctor for The Five Doctors in 1983... It would be an option for a massive multi Doctor story... but I think not... More likely if they did do something like that, would be using old footage... ala Trouble with Tribbles in Star Trek.

  • We'll miss Jon Pertwee maybe not that gummidge ( creepy scarecrow lol)

  • Baker and Pertwee the best Dr's.

  • R.I.P Jon Pertwee ;(

  • so sad.. he wasnt THAT old, and he was in bloody good shape... still working, too! nothing wrong upstairs.

  • sylvester mccoy's tribute was simple and gorgeous.

  • My favourite Doctor by far, wish I could have met him just once :(

  • Thanks for posting. A legend.

  • I like how Jon Pertwee says "DALEKS!"

  • I met him at East Ham London at Dr Who Shop! he was the best!

  • Why did he have to die?? He was an awesome Dr. R.I.P John.

  • My favourite Doctor by far. Much more dashing and erudite than the newer incarnations. He's sadly missed.

  • He was a dear and joyous man. I was lucky enough to meet him twice at conventions, and got a hug at the second one! World-class hugger. What a shame he didn't live long enough to see the legacy of DW continue.

  • Evidently you do not speak Worzelese .

  • GworOworDwordip.

  • huh?

  • Jon Pertwee **IS** Doctor Who.

  • @GrandPrix55 i think you'll find he was the DOCTOR (Dr Who is the name of the tv show)

  • @GrandPrix55 sorry but he played the doctor NOT doctor who

  • ok cheers matey!-he was a talented man and i also adored Worzel Gummidge..that was so funny..nobody could do worzel!!

  • how did you keep this footage?(record it on your vcr at home and keep the tape?)..Thank You ever so much for uploading this.(r.i.p. John)

  • Yes, I taped it on VHS on the day he died. Same as the "TVTV" clips - was prepared due to foresight and sat ready with the remote to tape them...

Have a cupboard of footage I should really look through... (not all Doctor Who)

  • @thecosmichobo Well done, thank you so much for your time in doing that! much appreciated.

  • Yes sadly missed one of the reporters was Colin Baker, same name as Dr Who no.6!

I met Katy Manning Jo Grant for the 2nd time a few weeks ago, very friendly lady.

  • It's sad. He was great as the doctor.

  • SPLINK!

  • Listen to anything narrated by Sean Pertwee, you can still hear jon!

  • R.I.P. John, you will be missed and live on forever without need of regeneration!

  • He never mentioned poor ole Worzel.

  • I met John Pertwee in the 70's when he was Dr Who, what a nice man.

  • he was my great uncle

  • Do you remember him?

We went to a doctor who convention and him and his assistant Jo where there, he gave my sister a kiss on the cheek and shuck my hand, he comes across as a geniune person in his shows and interviews.

  • no, he met me once, but i was VERY young.

  • We both met him once, i was 6 years old and its one of my fondest memories, bless him.

    Loved his work.

  • I'll always remember him as Spotty from SuperTed.

  • Poor guy he was an awesome actor and a legend o Doctor Who.

  • Katy Manning speaks very highly of Jon Pertwee and the years they spent working together. She never mentioned that he was rude or selfish - indeed, she said he was extremely kind and helpful to her as a struggling young actress in such an iconic show.

Pertwee and Baker were superb as the Doctors Who.

  • A Great actor will always be remembered for Worzel and Dr Who i remember both.

  • Well, hopefully it won't be for a long time.

  • is your faith beyond your mind if so i am the doctor

  • i loved worzel gummage, forgot all about it until i sw a flash of it in this clip

  • He died about a month after my 6th birthday...and I didn't even know about Doctor Who back then.

  • COLIN BAKER REPORTING!!!!!!

I know it's not Doc Colin but hey.

  • R.I.P Pertwee 1 of the best

  • the lovely guy.....R.I.P

  • it was mearly 12 years ago since exactly to this day he died so sad

    R.I.P

  • poor bloke, he was my favorite doctor tied with tom baker and peter davison. He's been dead 12 years now, and he's still sorely missed by fans.

  • on the 20th may ill honor him i might do a tribute to

  • Aww that'll be nice. I never really saw him in Doctor Who on tv only in repeats & I thought he was good. When I was still at school my mum & dad took me to the theatre in Aberdeen as there was a stage show of DW and Jon Pertwee was in it - it was VERY good :D

  • at 1.13 Colin Baker reporting

    ????????

  • Yes, I remember thinking how odd that was when I saw the report "on the day". What are the odds a reporter named Colin Baker would report on the death of Jon Pertwee...

  • @thecosmichobo: And also a Colin Baker that wasn't the Sixth Doctor either!

  • He died 6 days before my 21st BirthDay!

  • He died 4 days before my 16th Birthday!!!!

  • He died 4 days before my 9th birthday!

  • He Died 140 Days before My 3rd bday!

  • ahh I remember this day very well. God bless him.

  • he is the same age as my great grandmother :o

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • You're welcome. It was a sad day for a lot of fans. Still remember it, even though it was 11 years ago...
