@ octobubble & edavismookie25: Did you not listen @ 4:20? Haiti is in the condition that it is in because after they defeated their colonizers they actually had to PAY them $40 BILLION with interest. It Not to mention that they were boycotted out of fear so their goods were not able to make the country money. Haiti was the number one producer of sugar in the world before the revolution so the ability to be financially secure was there. Why do you think the French fought so hard to keep it?
@chikamba123 also the french place sanctions on Haiti after the revolt . These sanction are still in place today which is a key player in Haiti's poverty. Haiti is still paying fines to the French til this day. If you watch on the video it clearly says they were made to pay reparation to the french. For revolting against their violators.
@octobubble if ur saying look what the slaves did to Haiti, they explained why it happened. Everyone boycotted and refused to trade with the new nation, therefore no money was coming in. Then when they tried to establish trade the Europeans said u must pay us reparations because u "stole" the colony from us. That sounds absurd. It basically made the rich richer and the poor poorer.
