  • Tremos reference ? You never cease to amaze Hickok45!

  • While respecting Hickok's Chanel and this Vid... Have the same Dillon tumbler & spent time on phone with them, re brass cleaning/capacity 4 pistol brass. They rec running it ca. 1 1/2 - 2" below bowl rim with media & brass in it. As far as polish goes, while have experimented with the popular "NuFinish" & Mineral Spirits, have stuck with Dillon's "Rapid Polish 290" {Hereinafter & Forever called "Polish" ! } Stuff really does last and only one capful recharges a full load of 2K 9mm.
  • how long can you store dirty/range brass in a sealed container compared the clean brass in a sealed container. I dont reload yet, probably wont for a couple more years but i already started to recently collect my brass and separate it.

  • Great Tremors joke.

  • when i pull the brass out and wipe the brass over. it is coverd in a very fine powder. Do you wipe the powder off befor putting it through youre die?

  • Do you HAVE to clean your brass if your just starting?is it bad if you dont?

  • Burt Gummer would be proud. :D

  • #1 reason to clean brass is that cleaner brass makes loading dies last longer and it is less damaging to chambers. . .a little grit can do alot of damage.

  • hahah like the tremors joke!

  • I see a box of black talons

  • Ha, I have that same Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum tin print you have in the background there. :D

  • @fuzzy1911 Bert Gummer seemed to be more of a rifle guy instead of a pistol guy...and much more paranoid.

  • Hickok45 Behind you is a Dillion calender I was just wondering what month is she?

  • you remind me of Burt Gummer from Tremors!

  • I love Tremors!!! when i think about it you remide me of burt! lol :D

  • I laughed when you spurted that Tremors comment.

  • all the Tremors movies were good!!!

  • can someone please tell me if i need to resize my .45 acp brass after every time it has been fired. i am still deciding if i should get into reloading and would like to know how labor intensive it is.

  • does this dillon vibrator of yours clean the inside of the brass as well as the primer pocket?

  • lmao Graboids if you know what i mean ....i have watched the other hand loading video's and i looked on Dillon's website and this one let me pick if i wanted to get the shaker, and the whole kit and caboodle and it's about $1,500 i think it's cool so im gunna save up wait till i turn 21 and start doing this stuff thanks your my idol

  • i use a 5€ plug in Timerwatch to control the "switch off" of the Tumbler

  • LoL graboids LOVE that !! and yes he is the real Bert LOL love your vides! safe shooting !!!!

  • Broke into the wrong rec room didn't ya..... LOL

  • Awesome Tremors reference ;)

  • Thank You for the video

  • Most important part of anyone's reloading room is up on your wall. I find it to be almost impossible to reload without a Dillon Calender on the wall. The guns are very pretty to look at.

  • Grabboids!!!! loved that movie so much a a kid! you just made my day :)

  • Graboids ha nice. great movie

  • OOOOOOHHHHH Vibrator :-)

  • A friend of mine passed along a tip. Crushed walnut from the pet store (lizard bedding) and 2 capfuls of Nu Finish car wax. Works great.

  • wow i didnt know you did a series on this! great.. listen in one of my manuals " lee " it says not to use reloaded ammo in glocks.. is this true?? they say the chamber is not supported. due to the ramp feed.. all i have is a glock and i just bought a press.. i feel pretty dumb as i should have searched this first. "noob.. thanks like your vids.

  • i was thinkin of that movie when u turned it on lol

  • Loving the Graboid reference lol

  • I'm interested in reloading and have seen some vids.. I notice everyone cleans their brass before removing the spent primer... and the primer pocket remains dirty and you have to use a brush to clean it.. do you think it would be effective to remove the primer then vibrate it, thereby cleaning the primer pocket at the same time?

  • @metaZen , It's a real pain to deprime before cleaning the brass - adds another step to whole process really, and the vibrating media really doesn't get the crud out of the primer pocket necessarily. Plus, when I do this, I seem to get litle pieces of the media stuck up there in the primer pocket. With pistol ammo, I rarely ever have to clean the primer pocket. I have a lot of brass, though.

  • @hickok45 Thanks!

  • Haha tremors rules

  • that graboids thing was fucking hilarious

  • The hickok45 universe has zombies and graboids. It's a scary place.

  • A TREMORS REFERENCE, HAAAAA.

  • The Graboids comment made me laugh my ass off!

  • 5 stars for the Dillon calender

  • Haha the graboids! Watch out for the Snakeoids also! :0

  • p.s. i thought dead mans hand was aces and eights!

  • laugh my ass off he said "graboids"

  • thanks hikock

  • hi hickok45

do you think the dillon brass cleaner is better than say...frankford arsenal...or lyman...reason i am asking about brand names is i am on my 3rd tumbler...it's a lyman turbo ...2nd one was a lyman burned out in 2 weeks...1st one was a frankford arsenal ...quit working 2 days after i bought it...got my money back both times...no problem there but your video just has me thinkin...thanx much

  • @xtrmn8tr1 the Dillon cant be much worse than the other 2 you have tried, so i would say try the Dillon.

  • UHHH HUH BROKE INTO THE WRONG GOL'DIRN REC ROOM DIDNT U!!!

  • "It will attract the graboids!" LMAO thats tops

  • Have you tried the lyman liquid turbo case cleaner? put your brass in a bowl pour in the case cleaner and let it soak 3-5 mins. I soak mine let them dry then tumble them in corn cob treated with Flitz brass poilsh for half an hour and they look new.

  • GRABOIDS!!!!

  • ok looked it up he said "graboids" it a mythical monster from the tv show tremors. nope never seen it myself

  • Could you use car wax like turtle wax to polish brass?

  • Can you use turtle wax to polish brass?

  • Mr Greetings

You know how to clean the brass with katsup, watch my videos, and I owe what appendicocolic of their own.

    BossBalistic

  • this whole video is a massive thats what she said joke

  • Comment removed

  • Hah this was a featured video for me, congrats I guess.

  • :O did i see an airsoft pistol hung on your bench??? Please tell me i'm wrong!

  • @Sochill247 ,

Yes, that's an old one that my son bought

many years ago. Don't think it works.

  • @hickok45 i know some guys that put there brass and media in a large plastic jug and duct tape the lid, then duct tape a towel around the jug, and then put it into a clothes dryer, set on NO heat, they usually put 3-4 extra towels in the dryer to keep the jug from thumping around, let in run for 45 min to an hour, works good i guess. Just a low budget way i suppose, but i prefer your method : )

  • Ain't no way you gonna fit an entire saxophone in there, mister!

  • i sure wish you would clean my brass

  • LOL graboids! That has got to be one of the greatest movies of all time. You should make a video of you killing one like Bert does.

  • i think you should change your name to Hickglock45

  • heheheheh vibrator...

  • I have a feeling if the graboids do come you'll be well-equipped to stop them.

  • I used ground walnut shells first, but that chemically treated LYMAN media works fast and best.

I also notched each rifle case on the rim with a tiny triangular file to track the number of loadings (notching allowed mixed batches to be tumbled) and this all but eliminated dangerous case head separations (at 52,000 lbs PSI) of my reloads. After 5 cycles I'd load the cases and when fired the last time they were junk brass and either recycled or left to lay if I didn't find them on the ground.

  • slm millet

  • bwahaha, laughed hard at the graboid comment

  • actually, by making your own bullets, your shots will be a lot more accurate. military snipers don't buy ammo from winchester or remington, they have their own special guys who have presses. you can put fmj, armor piercing, hollow point; anything you name it and can control how hot you want the bullet to be by the amount of grains in your powder. and for the record, im a city boy who does this.

  • @xxxDINGLEDORKxxx

Dingledork if you don't reload then you're a firearm n00B. No matter how many guns one owns if you don't handload your ammo you have a superficial understanding of shooting and need to STFU.

  • (o.o)

This is Ola, help Ola take over Youtube!

  • Yay, congrats on being featured.

  • I love it that YT has started featuring non-big Youtubers, giving the smaller channels a chance to grow

  • Is Hickok 45 the real Burt Gummer from Tremors?

  • lol tremors.

  • cool 12ga brass in the back on the shelf

    : )

  • Some people use rice as cleaning media. Inexpensive choice, but it starts to create dust faster and needs to changed more often.

  • I use rice (1 part) and corn (3 parts) mixture...And I always put used dryer sheets in the mix, it collects the dust.

  • wheres the 4 bore elehant gun?

  • lol it will attract the Graboids. Tremors

  • @GOD719 and @fuzzy1911 Woo! Tremors fans!!!!

  • Funny how reloading will make you brass crazy. I went to the range early on Saturday, had the range all to my self. As I walked up to put up my targets I realised that the snowy ground was littered with once-fired 9mm cartridges from the ISPS training the day before. I came home about 2200 cartridges richer, but with a very sore back ;-)

  • You are right...I have started shooting my wheel guns rather then my 1911's so I do not loose my brass.. Reloading makes you crazy... Maybe this is the reason S&W revolvers have gotten so pricey.

  • @carolinadare Maybe, I love my S&W 686. Shoots double action only. The funny thing is that if I spend 60 rounds with my revolver, then I have 60 empty cartridges when I get home. If I shoot 60 rounds with my 1911, I usually come home with way more cartridges than what I brought with me, and a sore back that is. ;-)

  • You are lucky to get more 45 brass then what you came with.. I shoot with a lot of older guys who have been reloading a lot longer than me and they keep their brass..all the young guys shoot 40 and 9 mm.. I really do not shoot 9mm..and I have like 10,000 40 brass..I seem to always need 45 brass..

  • you have a gun to fend off the graboids?

    or TNT? lol

  • cool rooom...WOW...reminds of something of the t.v....;}..fun vid

  • Thanks. I didn't know there was such a thing. I'll add it to my list when I buy a Reloader.

  • you have Zombies AND Graboids?? Tennessee is a dangerous place.

  • Could you do a tour video of your entire workshop? There's alot of interesting things hung up on you walls..

  • verry nice

  • 5 stars for the Dead Man's Hand.

  • @LordRuckus ,

Ah, you know your HIckok history!

  • I have a rcbs tumbler and talk about noisy, i turn it on when i leave the house to go grocery shopping. It will drive you nuts if your in the house when it vibrates....

  • can someone please fill me in... i dont understand what happens inside that vibrator bucket. how does the brass actually get cleaned and how do you seperate the brass from the medium?

  • @nomadkrazy,

The vibration cleans it. You can just dump it out in a bucket or fish it out with your hands and separate the brass from the media. I have a case separator that Dillon sells. I works great, but you don't have to have it. I'll demonstrate it in another video.

  • got you, thank you.

  • @nomadkrazy To get more technical about it and maybe help you understand better, the friction of the media against the casings when they vibrate with rub the casings clean. Basically since they are all in the bucket together when it vibrates the media is scrubbing the casings in a way.

  • i see, thanks bro.

  • @nomadkrazy the vibration makes the medium vibrate and make small mirco polishing movements on the brass :)

  • Wow, a "Tremors" reference.

Now THAT makes a great video, in my book.

  • cool

  • Graboids, lmao.

  • Great video... Do you clean your primer pockets? Deber and chafer? (sp)

  • Rarely, if ever.

  • thanks for the reloading vids. allot of things you dont think abougth when you dont do this your self, for example how to clean the brass.

  • Lovely chick on the poster!

  • Yeah, Dillon not only makes quality reloaders and such, but their calendars are very "attractive."

  • tremors!!! awesome movie. 5 star vid hic- i mean Burt lol.

  • Do you find reloading cost effective? I ask because the cost of powder, primers etc. and the work involved just seems to be expensive more so than just buying a box of shells.

  • It is if you shoot a great deal.

  • I could see Hickok as Burt.

  • LOL! TREMORS dude you remind me of that guy on that move "BROKE INTO THE GOD DAMN WRONG WRECK ROOM!"

  • Five stars for graboids.

  • Great vid as always!!

  • I just sat there with a red rag and a bucket of mucky 308 rounds.

  • LOL!! Graboids! One of my favorite movies of all time! I think Hickok45 is well prepared for them!

  • I <3 the Tremors reference.

  • LOL Graboids, You do remind me a little of Burt LOL I love that movie!!! 5 star vid Hickok

  • LOL at the tremors joke

  • nice video Hickok45. and remember "you wont get any penetration with even the elephant gun"

  • what is that ax/tomahawk in the background?

  • It's a hand forged one I picked up at Davy Crockett Days in the summer of 1994 in Lawrenceburg, Tn.

  • very nice. Thanks

  • Haha graboids was my first thought when I saw it. I know you said you can put polish in there while cleaning, but was that just sawdust in there? Will that clean the brass by itself?....Great videos by the way.

  • It's ground corn cob. Ground walnut hulls is also good.

  • Huh...

    learned something today

  • Great video as always! Nice Dillon poster behind you too ;)

  • yea tremors is awesome movie

  • 5 *

  • it is also good for the dies if u have clean brass

  • ive been told you cant reload an old brass case i heard this cause i shot 70 year old ammo :P

  • LOL GRABOIDS!!!! YES!

  • LOL Gaboids!

  • Love the Tremors reference!! I was just searching for the movie yesterday here on Youtube for Burt's rec room scene...

  • Hey, anyone here have any experience with other brass cleaning methods besides the vibrating cleaners?

Noise and lead dust is an issue since I will be cleaning it indoors. I was thinking a spinning cleaner, or maybe some of the liquid solvents.

  • Thanks for that one question or request of you will you do a vid on how to set primers in new bress please

  • My daughter goes to the range with me she is 21 and has applied for her conceal carry permit. She used my M&P 40 and is going to be getting her first handgun soon, She was looking at a Glock 26. Would like to get you option.

    Thanks,

    Ken

  • Great video Hickok. Do you use any chemical compounds with the corncob?

  • HAHA love the graboids joke. You do remind me of Burt!

  • Whats the best powder for short barreled pistols? Fast burning powder right?

  • I prefer Hogdon Titegroup for pistol loads. You can use Alliant's Unique also.

  • ur a real life burt...

  • A Tremmors reference...that movie scared the crap out of me as a child.

  • Nice video. Case vibrator and cleaning media works out to aprox $200.00 plus shipping. I have fired some brass 3 times before I cleaned it. The only problem I encountered was dirty fingers.

  • What would it cost to start reloading .223 ammo from scratch. (reused Brass)

  • I can't run it too long... It'll attract the graboids!

Kickok, I think you just might have enough firepower to deal with a graboid!

  • Thanks for all the time you put in your videos !!!

  • 5 stars !

  • HAHA awesome Tremors reference!

  • There's a lot of handloading videos on YT but I like hickok's the best so far because they're really well explained. Thanks hickok45!

    5/5

  • Great video. I am ready to begin some handloading with my buddy, who has done quite a bit in the past, but not recently. We look forward to getting started. We have been procrastinating, these videos are a good motivational tool for us. Would love to see more.

    TKS.

  • Haha. Hickok, you and I think so much alike sometimes. Seriously as you were starting your video and saying your hello, my first thought was, "that's what attracted the graboids in tremors." Good thing you are armed just about as good as Reba was in that movie!

  • ahh ha ha graboids nice i ate that burt blew up his compound after he figured out his mres would have made the assblaster sick

  • I hope Youtube has partnered you already, these videos are awesome. Thanks again 5/5

  • Nice.

  • hmmmmmm i Have a great Idea hickock.....

an interactive game like other youtube channels involving killing zombies or getting killed.......... just an idea...

  • just wondering if u have a wife hickock, cuzz u need (i think) alot of time making these awesome videos maybe theres no time for wife or kids?

  • @HuxxNL ,

Yep, that's why you all should be sending me a medal of some sort! After all, I gave up hot women just to make these videos for you fellow shooters! :-) Quite a sacrifice, don't you think. :-)

  • I saw you already have a metal on the wall next to window, is that for giving up hot Mamas?...hahaha

  • Another great Vid, Hickok. I can tell by some of these comments that there's a full moon a comin. Thanks again Hick.

  • Hickok - Thanks!

  • How does that do for cleaning the primers seats? (not sure what it's called, but the place where the primer goes).

  • @burky417 ,

I rarely clean the primer pocket ever - just never have problem with that. There's a tool for that, OR you can deprime the cases before vibrating them, which is a pain if you're doing large volumes.

  • Hickok45, My grandpop has a Luger that was an Officers pistol in wwii. How could i clean this? I'm not used to cleaning old guns.

  • @XKfeildX be careful with it. Don't want to ruin that nice piece of history. Does it still work?

  • Still works! My grandfather got it during the Battle of the Bulge. His friend and him were off duty at the time, and they were supposed to bring back fresh meat for the camp. My grandfather's friend was about to shoot a deer when he shot his gun off to make the deer run. Then, 2 German officers came out with their hands up and a white flag! Lucky coincidence, huh?

  • @XKfeildX - You better not clean it! Grandpa will beat your ass!

  • IMO, cleaning it removes history. I would not clean it at all. I would consider it a collectors piece. Maybe just wipe it down and put light coat of CLP to prevent rust.

  • Google search for 'field stripping and cleaning' Luger. You're bound to find something for your specific model.

  • @XKfeildX

It was a German officers pistol in WWII

  • @briggsandstratton1 I'm aware of that. I was asking how to properly clean it.

  • woot!! Tremors reference!!!

  • Is hickock having a wife ?

  • @HuxxNL ,

"having a wife"? Might need clarification on that question? Sure is hard to behave myself and keep things "G" or "PG" rated. :-)

  • Nope, she was traded in for the million-dollar Luger.

  • Hickok45 doesn't marry. He mates!
