The media is not to be taken seriously regarding any story on Nixon other than that which can be proved, like Watergate. Anytime someone is universally disliked, as Nixon was within media circles, people tend to pile on. If you doubt this, just look at examples closer to home, the unpopular kid in school, work or whatever. People enjoy having someone to pick on, and for the media, Nixon was that person. He got their goat early on in his career, and their hatred of him just snowballed.

The media created trivial lies about Nixon. Hunter S. Thompson said that Nixon banged into the side of the helicopter after giving his final V salute when he left the white house (didn't happen watch the tape) Barbara Walters read her own lies into Nixon's relationship with his wife by stating in a recent interview, that she saw Nixon stiffen when his wife put her arms around him to dance at their daughters wedding, also did not happen, watch the tape. Needless lies, no wonder he hated the media
