This $1.5 billion wind farm -- a US-China joint venture paid for in part by Chinese banks -- will be built not with turbines from usual suspects GE or Vestas, but with Chinese-made machines from a year-old company called A-Power.
Needless to say, most of the project's green jobs will be created in China. And don't shoot the messenger, but it's hoping to secure 30 percent, or $450 million, of its financing from, yes, U.S. stimulus funds.
Heaven? Please... put these eyesores offshore where they don't blight the landscape and give everyone in the vicinity a headache with the hum. This is not a green solution, no matter how they are photographed in sunsets, etc.
its too bad wind energy is soo expensive if it were compaiable somewhat to other sources of power I would think it would be ok but I don't because the cost is way out of control. I wish enviromentalists would stop promoting wind energy until it becomes responably affordable. And besides I sure there are other better and cheeper forms of energy available people just have to think harder. I like the quote that electricity was the best thing discovered until somone decided to charge money for it.
I used to live in Palm Desert, California, so your windmill video reminds me of Palm Desert! I drove on Fwy 10 so many times to see these power generating windmills! I always felt like finally entering Palm Springs when I passed them driving from west! Thank you for posting your video, and I enjoyed watching it! Have a Great Day:-)
Love IT!!! California needs to invest more in Green Tech!!! Prop 23 is down in the polls, but the Yes on 23 campaign just got a new influx of hot, anonymous cash, so we'll need to fend them off in the home stretch to Election Day.
Hit me back if you'd like to talk Prop 23. We're coming out with a bunch of great No on Prop 23 videos soon!
I've been passing through there on the way to Az for the last ten years and have watched them multiply. Those things line the landscape for miles now.
