I seriously envy your playing skills! Watching you guys play these violins with ease (especially the vibrato) makes me want to try to improve my own skills!
Such a pity the guy was collecting violins for a whole life time and now the collection gets spread all around the world. Would he like that? I'm not blaming the two perfect teenagers for anything, because they have nothing to do with that. Both are very talented musicians and very hard working individuals and I wish the best for them.
It woud have been nice to see a museum of violin somewhere in the U.S. dedicated to that man but now I don't think it's possible.
@douskara -- the original owner wanted the violins to be placed in the hands of violinists, especially students, who would benefit from playing on fine, old instruments. it was said that the collection was more of a way to rescue the violins from attics, basements and closets where many had been for years before. always nice to hear from you :)
@eboyinc That's a great story! The man was really dedicated to his art. That's what violins are for and it's such a waste of potential divine music when masterpieces are kept in a case, like the Messiah Stradivarius that only serves music as an exhibition item.
what a weird thing to say! to keep beautiful instruments stuffed away? in museums? that is like finding beautiful artwork and throwing a sheet over it.
you can't appreciate the violin unless it's played!
@tephes -- hi, i personally have 2 violins; one that i use for recitals, concerts, etc. and a 2nd one that i keep at school.
you can see our personal violins at our other youtube site,
Musicasa2ndlanguage --
this is where we post our personal performances.
the violins that my sister and i play on here on eboyinc belong to the estate of a professional violinist who passed away a few years ago. we're helping to catalog the collection which numbers in the hundreds.
@olokies -- my brother and i play on nice instruments, but not at the level of some of these amazing instruments in this collection. thats one of the reasons doing this project is so much fun...we get to play on violins and violas that are way above our level.
thanks...the instruments in this collection are amazing...we only get a few minutes with each instrument, but when we open a new case to do the sound sample, its like finding treasure :D
this is a really special, one-of-a-kind violin and it sounds fantastic. i'm just a student violinist and have no idea of values. but i'd say its worth alot!
thanks. this is a great piece for recital...i wouldn't call it easy, especially to play well. i work on my bach constantly and don't feel like i'm anywhere near playing it right...but i think this is a good piece to do. good luck with your recital...i hope you post a video :D
i was wondering if youv'e done or even know what i'm talking about. there is a violin piece thats really fast and when i hear the song i think of destruction and chaos. its so famous and yet i cant think of it. i almost think of a bee flying around really fast in zigzags when i hear it. does anyone have any clue what i'm thinking of cause i don't know the title
I agree with Oberlindeankim, Eboyinc rocks! This channel is more than just a couple of great violinists showing what they can do. These guys are educating us about the variants in violins made through a couple of centuries from around the world by different makers. They are friendly and communicative. They support other violinists on Youtube, especially young violinists and beginners without any criticism. They're naturals in every way. I thank them.
hi...thanks for your comment. i wish there was a way to show what this violin really looks like...the woods are really amazing... i've never seen anything else like it :D
Hey eboyinc, we talked about something some time ago... oh yes! It was Barber's Adagio for Strings! lol, I just remembered! Still want me to make a vid of that? I have it now :) glad to see you're still live and very much kicking! Through hard work (sometimes four hours a day) my general tone and playing have improved loads since we last spoke, but I'm still looking ahead to the days where I can play like you hehe :) I won't be able to tackle Bach for quite some time though, I should think!
lol. Hey j12torts; there's this excellent and totally legal website related to Wiki, called the IMSLP (International Music Score Library Project). It consists of scan-ins of out-of copyright editions of music, and has tonnes of composers (better than your average free music website). There's loads by the greats like Bach, and his complete sonatas and partitas for solo violin are available, you just click and view them in adobe. Hope this helps! :)
the violin is really something. my brother isn't so bad either, lol :D seriously, the maker is from the midwest, but i don't know him personally. he must be good because this is a very nice violin.
I love it! The shape looks a little different than usual, too. BTW, if your brother is interested in making his own archery equipment, tell him to google "sam harper board bow." My web page is the first one that comes up.
Really good... Just a little too slow
