  • Oh my god! Does she end up a vampire????

Hey does she end up with him???

or at least a vampire? I am so curious now. This thought has been in my mind for a long time sense i was a kid. o.o

  • @zeldaria12 No, she didn't. Barn never bit Vicki the third time because he wanted her to come to him of her own free will. Her love for him was so innocent and sincere, and he loved her dearly. But her adventure with Peter in 1795 (Jeff in the "present day" storyline) mucked everything up. I always wished to see the scene where Bran asks Vicki to marry him (just before they wrote Vicki out) done with Alexandra as Vicki and not Carolyn Groves, the second replacement actress.

  • Barnabas had such a sexy soothing voice

  • Nothing on this planet scared me more than the top to the box of the Dark Shadows board game; which my parents bought for me when I was 8 years old! I had to hide it in the closet because Barnabas' eyes followed you all around the room! 25 years later, I could have made a fortune off that game on eBay but I lost the single most important item in it; the fangs! Rats!

  • Definitely a classic. Use to rush home from grade to watch the show. If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna have my canine teeth pulled and get vampire teeth implants!!

  • alexandra motke....WOW, she was such a cutie back then! how old would she have been?

  • Tim Burton this Piano Piece I've written would be perfect for your movie.

    It's called Nocturnal.

It's a dark dramatic piano piece.

Check it out on my channel.

  • @colormagicsky3 You're barking up the wrong tree, if you will look at my video "Light In The Shadows" you will see that I am female and nowhere near famous.

  • Watching these old clips have sure brought back memories. Just watched the first episode ever of DS.. I remember when it first came on TV but wasn't into it at the time. Didn't start watching it until summer of 68! There has never been a serial like it since!

  • In myth Vampires would not decay because they constantly heal themselves, such as in movies and novels if they got the slightest cut or injury it would heal and they are made to live forever and appear as true perfection so as far as an odor i think it would be an intriguing scent to lure us to them..

  • My name's Victoria. And all of my life, I told my friends that I was named after Posh Spice because, honestly when you're 5, that's what you think (and it's pretty cool). Anyway, just a few weeks ago my mom tells me she named me after this woman. A vampire in a soap opera. >.<

  • Alexandra Moltke was Pregnant in November 1968? Who got her Pregnant?

It wasn't Jonathan Frid was it?

  • @ljrobbins1651 : No, she was married by then.

  • the girl has a sexy voice

  • He is still my loving older brother image, someone who would protect me. I haven't forgotten that he is a vampire but there is a gentle, sensitive and compassionate side to him.

  • He is still my loving older brother image, someone who would protect me.

  • i used to have such a huge crush on barnabas collins... lol

  • The whole idea of having sex (or kissing) a creature who is room temperature and probably smells HORRIBLE, and can't take a shower is bizarre, yet many women (and men, for that matter) seem to find the idea arousing...

  • @shmuli9: Something Frid's talked about extensively is how Barnabas "lived a lie". In order to do that, it seems to me he would have had to learn to imitate modern customs as quickly as possible, including hygeine. So despite sleeping in a coffin, he might not have been too bad smelling. At least, we fans can hope. :-)

  • @cactusblue60 I'm sure he DID learn about modern customs/hygiene, but washing a days-old fish, or a dead mouse, won't make either one smell better... I don't mean vampires smell because of their hygiene; it's just that they are sort of decaying, and really nothing can be done about that...

  • @shmuli9 Are you sure he decayed? I am totally intrigued by this now, and I need to put this topic up for discussion on the DS lists I'm on. I would be interested to see what kind of responses I get. Thanks for writing.

  • @cactusblue60 I was thinking about it, too. I suppose vampires don't decay, at least in the way dead things do, since they are "undead", but not alive, either. I was basing that supposition mostly on the old pictures of "Nosferatu" and Stephen King stories, written before vampires consisted of people like LeStat, Spike, Angel, and so forth...

  • The Ross novels were my introduction to Dark Shadows. I rather enjoyed them. My set was lost in a fire years ago and I would love to replace them someday so that I may reread them. Ross actually chose not to follow the TV series plot so that he could create original plots for the book series. His decision to leave Barnabas unchained in the books was a wise one for it made the character available to be placed in any of the books without restriction...

  • jonathan frid is the eternal sexy vampire. i love him so much. i would love to be bitten by him.

  • this is REALLY creepy... in a novella written by an original writer for the series, it becomes crystal clear that (gasp) Barnabas is Vicky's father...

  • @blozier2006: Yes, the novella was written, but it was by the late Craig Hamrick (Louis Edmonds' biographer) from an outline for an entirely different story continuity by Dan (aka Marilyn) Ross, who wrote the DS paperbacks. Neither were "original writers" for the series -- in fact, DS was already on the air when Hamrick was born. This continuity has never been considered to be series canon.

  • @cactusblue60 WHOOPS! I guess I need to brush up on my DS canon... Thanks for pointing out the goof!

  • @cactusblue60 Sense that also would make no sense at all. He was chained in has coffin during the time that she had been born. That book must have been from the remake series.

  • @haseoxx: It doesn't make sense because the Ross novels (and therefore, the story idea Hamrick wrote from) completely throw out the back stories of the characters that are part of canon. Other than using the character names, the Ross novels have nothing to do with the show, either '60s or '91. They are not considered canon at all.

  • @cactusblue60 Yeah, I read some of them.

  • @haseoxx I'm glad Ross never pursued the storyling Hamrick wrote. I think if he had, back in the '60s, the books never would have sold because it would have diverged too much from canon.

  • Was there ever a bed scene with Moltke and Roger Davis, because i think there was a scene where they were in bed then they find Eve in Jeff's closet, I think Moltke's final scene was when her & Jeff were at the police station

  • I would love to watch this show from beginning to end -- but the collection spans almost thirty volumes! I'd have to be about as wealthy as cousin Barnabas to buy them all. I'll have to mortgage the house or something. In the meantime, I content myself with these juicy scenes from You Tube. Kudos!

  • @darkprose I've been geting the DVD's from netflix.

  • He had a good makeup artist, though

  • I agree Barnabas is one sexy vampire!!!!

  • I was trying to remember, did he and Vicki ever kiss?

  • No, they never did, not lips on lips, anyway.

  • @cactusblue60

    yeah, that's what i thought. :/

kinda wished there had been one. :P

  • @POPARAZZIMONSTER90

You and me both. Of all the loves Barnabas had on the show, I think his love for Vicki, and her love for him, was the most sincere and tender. As much as I love the Barn/Josette coupling, I'd have VASTLY preferred to see Barn and Vicki together.

  • @

but i did like her relationships with Burke and Peter...i really wish they hadn't killed Burke off. Arrrgghh!! although, i really liked Barnabus's relationship with Vicki because like you said, it was tender and sincere.

  • @POPARAZZIMONSTER90 Burke Devlin's plane was never found so technically, they could've brought him back at any time, and had Alexandra not left the show, I believe they eventually would have.

  • @SOLE2SOUL Yeah, I remember now- i wished she hadn't left... or at the very least had gotten a different actress to play her. :P

  • He kissed her on the cheek once, when she told him she and Jeff Clark were engaged, and she kissed him on the cheek once, in the character's final scene (by then Vicki was being played by Carolyn Groves). I loved them together, especially Alexandra.

  • Awsome!!

    Barnabas rules...to say the least...

    thank you for the video!!!!

  • Barnabas was the original sexy, angsty vampire!! I had such a crush on him when I was six years old....I didn't really know what a crush was but I couldn't take my eyes off him! My parents wouldn't let me watch the show because they thought it was too scary, so I watched at a friend's house.

I always loved it when he fanged up.

  • Team Barnabas trumps Team Edward and Jacob.

  • my comment wasnt intended to be spam, ive been searching for that video for some time

  • I always wanted Barnabas and Victoria to hook up and maybe if they could have made it where he turned her into his vampire bride Alexandra Moltke would've stayed since she wanted to play a less "normal" role...plus I would also like to see that storyline lol.

  • what episode number was this?

  • Ep 462, original air date April 2, 1968.

  • Oh so creepy, this show used to scare the bejeevies out of me when I was a little boy!

  • Mitch Ryan's movie Midway is discussed in great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life) at amazon!

  • Ooh, that sounds good on both counts, as I am an admirer of both actors.

  • I've never seen this part of the series. Mainly what I have seen is some of the Laura the Phoenix, 1897, the Leviathans and some of the parallel times stories. Whenever I can afford the dvds, I'll definitively check out this one!

  • gosh i still though barnabas was always sexy, its just that aura of him being a vampire, no wonder i love them so much. i loved this soap opera greatly too.

  • If they do to most of the classic shows and movies worth watching over again. I just hope the original plot and politics of the survives the cutting room.

  • the best soap opera, ever. if you're going to be implausible, you might as well be really implausible.

  • Johnny Depp is a big DS fan. A new DS movie has been talked about for 3 years now. Question is, will it go forward? Will it be the same without the guiding hand of Dan Curtis? Let's hope so!

  • It's taken this long for Depp and Tim Burton to take care of their other commitments. DS is scheduled to shoot next summer in London for a 2011 release, which I'm going to guess will tie into the 45th anniversary of the show's premiere. Since June of 2011 will run on the same calendar as June 1966, I'll lay money they'll try to have it ready for the weekend immediately before. This will be the first DS without Dan Curtis...we shall see what happens.

  • Can't believe Johnny Depp just got the role of Barnabas. It is going to be freakin AWESOME!!

  • Wait a sec...what did I miss? Is there going to be a movie or something? Man that would be awesome!!

  • Alexandra Moltke and Ashley Williams

What do they have in common?

Alexandra The Girl Next Door the 60's

Ashley Williams The Girl next Door Present.

If they Make a new Dark Shadows Ashley Williams Could be Vikki Winters

  • I wasn't familiar with who she was, to I Googled photos of her, and I agree, she could make a really good Vicki. Nothing has leaked out about which way the script is going to go re: storyline, but probably it will go over the stuff the longtime fans know so well to get the new fans up to speed.

  • I could see Days of our Lives star Rachel Melvin playing Vicki. She just has the face of a person who could play Vicki in the new film. I wonder if they will have Sara Collins in the new film, if they do Selena Gomez should play Sara Collins

  • His hair is so Emo.

  • It was always extra spiky when he was gonna put the bite on someone. If you see different scenes, you also know he was made up differently, with blacker eyes, etc., in almost every bite scene.

  • That's true! They made him paler, darkened his eyebrows, and put more makeup on his eyes~ one time they even put a thin silver streak in his hair. :)

  • barnabas is hot !

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes he was my first and only enduring crush

  • GO BARNABAS.....

  • Barnabas kicked so much ass! What a great character. I actually started watching the soap All My Children because it reminded me of Dark Shadows.

  • Alexandra Moltke left the show in November 1968-because she was pregnant. I always wished that she would of returned to Dark Shadows-because the show wasn't the same without her

  • @tapeduk

Vickie was THE Dark Shadows character

  • @tapeduk She has said she thought about returning and asked to play another character like the rest of the cast did , While she liked the character she allso felt the Victoria didn't seem to bright and couldn't figure things out allways saying "I don't understand" but they refused to do so believeing the fans wouldn't accept her as anyone but Victoria Winters.

  • That whole scene was dynamic on several levels. You've got Barnabas, who'd actually resisted biting Vicki several times and had really become genuinely affectionate toward her, but was also driven by his paranoia over what she might have learned while trapped in 1795. Then there's Vicki who probably deep down was in love with Barnabas, probably was also a bit frightened of him on some level, but is being driven into his arms by her own fears over her 1795 experience and her desire.

  • @LordZontar That is the most dead-on analysis of their situation that I've ever read.

  • I can't believe I'm 53 now and was my daughter's age now (12) when I watched this stuff! WAHHHH! It was so cheesy! We LOVED IT! We SWOONED! We thought it was GREAT! FORGET "Twilight!"

  • Hey, thw whole reason Twilight and every other modern vamp movie and show does what it does is because Jonathan Frid turned vampirism on its ear. Cheesy, yes, but in so many other ways, it changed daytime television. Can't WAIT to see what Johnny Depp does with this role; given how he felt about Barnabas as a kid, he's the only actor on the planet who could play this role and get it right.

  • you're probably right. he has jonathan' s humor and dark qualities.

  • Guess what there going to make a remake of "Dark Shadows" and guess who going to play Barnabas Collins ? Can you see Johnny Depp playing the role? I can't wait..it should be really good with todays special effects and all. And for the record I am 52 and yes we loved every episode.

  • JOHNNY DEPP! I may have a heart attack right here! THAT got my hormones going. Thanks for the heads-up!

  • Tim Burton's making a Dark Shadows movie.

  • gotta say, its quite a scene. get a little sexual tension into it as well as the constant desire to make sure his secret's safe... insistence is key i guess.

  • yes, ther is something very romantic and also very sexual in that waiting for her that barnabas has been through

  • barnie sounds like ...

well, sounds like a vampire who has been reduced to a coffin for 200 years and decides not to loose his time forever ...

  • hehehehe....I will never hear that line in quite the same way again. He DID sound rather insistent, didn't he? :-)

  • Thanx so much for posting. I was such a big fan of DS but haven't watched in years. I don't remember why Barnabas had to bite Vicki in order for her to forget ???

  • This scene was right after Vicki came back from 1795, and Barnabas was worried sick that Vicki had learned he was a vamp. So he thought he had to bite her to make her forget her memories of 1795. Thanks for commenting. :-)

  • Barnabas is Always biting someone lol

  • Yes! I remember that! I LOVED the whole traveling back in time thing. The second I'd get home from school, I'd call my friend Andrea and we'd watch the show together over the phone!

  • Since we don't see him bite her, does he kill her while biting her?

  • Nope. We get to see the second bite a few episodes later. He only bit her because he absolutely had to, he was afraid she knew his secret. This was where Frid played the reluctance to the hilt.

  • victoria winters.......she was so hot....even hotter than caroline.....but our dear sweet angelique topped them all......those eyes, they were flat out gorgeous.....

  • we were all waiting for that bite!!

  • Why is he wearing eyeliner?

  • One, the lighting was very harsh; two, they thought it made him look more vamp-like, so they really caked it on when he was supposed to be a vamp.

  • He looks so cool as a vampire. I want him lol

  • so did i

  • And to think this actress ended up being the mistress of Klaus Von Bulow in real life.

  • That really happened?

  • You would think when he said "come to me" she'd said "HUH??"!

  • she is not a nympho!!!!! just really stupid!!

  • That is soooooo awesome!

  • OMG!!! I really want to see what happens next!never saw that part in the series. Gosh, Barnabas is so scary! But I totally love him! He's the perfect villian.

  • the eyeliner makes him look even more evit than you thought he was

  • be careful what you wish for victoria!!!

  • i love how they would build up the music and take it straight out, and then it would start back, on his very word..

  • CRAP CRAP CRAAAAP! Stupid censers! THEY CUT OUT THE BEST PART! Thanks for posting. I don't remember seeing that that part so thanks!

  • Alexandra's story is an interesting one, beginning when she was 3 months old being smuggled out of nazi Denmark and a freedom flight aboard a US bomber to that mess with Von Bulow.

  • could you tell us more about miss moltke?

    sounds haunting!

  • Damn the censors! I felt cheated that he didn't sink his teeth in her.

  • i think vicki winters was a secret nympho, she just hid it well

  • what is a nympho?

  • Nympho is short for nymphomaniac. A woman who has an insatiable appetite for sex.

  • what's sex?(haha jk)

  • Yes Barnabas is wearing eyeliner. The makeup artist was not the best, they wanted his eyes to stand out from his facial features.

  • This show started my attraction to vampires. Greetings from Delaware

  • Poor Vicki. The writers made her dumber than a bag of rocks covered in algae. No wonder Alexandra Moltke couldn't wait to leave.

  • HAR har har good comment. Exceedingly clever!

  • What was the story with Josette? I always thought it was like this: she and Barnabas were to be married, he's turned into a vampire and rather than be his vampire bride she throws herself off Widow's Hill.Or was she thrown off? Somebody give me the straight dope!

  • Yes, you remember it correctly. She jumped off the cliff rather than become a vampire, and then her ghost haunted Collinwood for the next couple of centuries.

  • Is he wearing eyeliner?! I loved this show as a kid. I also felt a little cheated; I wanted to actually see him bite her, too!

  • Yeah, he is, and it seems like the DS makeup people went overboard with it when they wanted to make Frid look particularly menacing. They don't show it here, but (man, I need to put this clip up!) we do get to see it the second time he bites her.

  • love it!!!

  • I love it! Post more DS videos!! This was such a nice scene!!

  • I WISH I VICTORIA WINTERS!

  • I wish they had made Barnabas and Victoria a couple. Alexandra Isles left the show in 1968 when she got pregnant.

  • It was what I always wanted to see as well...I so wanted to be Vicki when I was little because Barnabas loved her so much.

  • She was pregnant even before she left the show, she just didn't start showing the belly until around November of 68. Too bad 2 other people had ot play her instead of her, because had she stayed, then she would of been around for the debut of Quentin Collins. I enjoyed this scene so much

  • Nice. I wish they had more episode clips like this on youtube instead of simply music videos.

  • what a rip off, all that build up and they end the scene before the bite!

  • LOL, ahhh, but this was a Friday episode on the original run. Cliffhanger, don'cha' know. <g> The first bite we DO see is one of the very best of Barn's bites and comes a couple of episodes later. I need to post that one.

  • they did that all the time... frustrated the daylights out of me... especially if it occurred on a friday.

  • what is the name of this series

  • This is from the classic '60s gothic soap, "Dark Shadows". Not being shown on the air right now, but available on video and DVD from online retailers, video stores, and http://www.mpihomevideo.com.

  • I wish they could make the series with new story lines but the opening of Barnabas's coffin will never be the same again!

  • Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) is the best villain/Vampire there ever will be!

  • You know it! Nobody will ever bring to a vampire again the complexity and sensitivity he did.

  • I really loved this series when I was a kid. I have all the episodes on tape now. Every year for Halloween I was Baranbas! I also had a way massive crush on Kathryn Leigh Scott!
