0:53 Attempted leg sweep. You learn this around green belt (Going off new syllabus)
From the start I think Czech guy will win but i admire the black guy since his hands are always around the same height even halfway through. The czech guy though hands too low. Excellent opening for black man to jodan mawashi geri him.
My God, look at the low kicks on that man. He was working them perfectly the whole fight, landing them as well-timed counters with knee-buckling power.
This type of fighting is a good start into the world of MMA. It teaches you to take pain and ignore it will fighting onward. Many people don't talk about pain and how it will affect a fighters heart. Our skin, muscles and bones can be trained to take hits and throws to the ground. More people should understand this. I have
I cant even beleive this JKD guy, like seriously if you have that much beef with kyokushin fighters then you should step into a dojo and stop running your mouth, I've trained kyokushin for 7 years and i have a healthy respect for all other martial arts because they all have their strengths. People like you shouldn't train and you disgrace the name if your style by acting like a tough guy. Stop flapping your mouth and focus on your training... Osu..
@thumper540 I completely agree. The most important fundamentals of martial arts are DISCIPLINE and RESPECT; these make up the foundation of learning properly. JKD is a way better style of fighting, i wanted to check this shit out and its fuckin stupid. why would you just stand there and get hi like all these guys do in this competion!?!?! why no stay back and pick your shots aka head kicks. instead they meet in the middle and start kickin and punching in the ribs an stomach and see who drops first. not to much fighting techniques there at all just who take the most pain. my oppinon its fuckin stupid style. jkd is intercepting fist or kicks. way bettr
you can kick to the head its known as the hardest karate or knockout kararte because strongest man or women left standing there there bodys are as hard as rocks you could not beat a kyokushin fighter search andy hug he is a fantastic example of a kyokushin fighter he moved into K! fighting tounaments

@thedoc56 true dat. That's why i think Kudo is a more evolved, complete martial art, because it includes floor work from jutitzu and greco roman wrestling
they're just so good off the ground, i like the way Sakuruba beat royce, by having and impenetrable take-down defense and beating him at his own game. The top jutitsu guys were previously too good at avoiding being hit. The game is more evolved now and MMA fighters know how to defend against takedowns better and know how to harm people by locking them up on the shoot. I love BJJ but i also recognise, that like any human system it has it's shortcomes, and mostly that is related to striking.
well thats true. the game is really evolved. you have to b a bj penn to dominate. but at the same time EVERYONE in mma has to learn bjj or they get ruined. in a street fight, bjj stilll wins
you think u hav a better chance of punching and kicking multiple attackers ? thats a good way to get knocked out. no martial art deals with multiple attackers. but in a common one on one encounter ground is always better.
It's incorrect to assume that all martial arts don't deal with multiple attackers. I have to admit that special forces unarmed combat training has taught me a lot more about many to one situations than kudo has, but during the training that I've done with Grandmaster Azuma Takashi (the founder of kudo) he did deal with multiple attacker situations, and also pointed out why kudo is 75% stand up, 25% floorwork. Because it's hard to deal with many to one situations on the floor.
@abiriax BJJ is a defensive style. Not an aggressive one. If you're using it, it's to protect yourself, or neutralizing threats. If you're being attacked "on the street" as you say, and you're on your feet, the best thing to do is to find a way to get out of the situation. If you get taken down, however, your ability to escape is compromised. This is why BJJ is so powerful. Because even if you become inable to move away, you can still protect yourself. Again, it's about protection.
@thedoc56 Yep. Someone once said that MMA is like war. In war, those with the newest, most deadliest weapon dominate. In WW2, that weapon was the atomic bomb. The Americans had it, no one else did, so they dominated. MMA is similar. When Gracie entered MMA, he had BJJ, and no one could stop him. Now everyone must acquire BJJ in order to compete. Eventually someone will have to come up with a new style that dominates. Btw, the person who said this was none other than GSP. ;)
@thedoc56 your ignorent....theres padding on that floor...and they wear pads..and if some one grappeled at me in a real sitch..i would just use tang soo do pressure points!and they would let go!or on the ground they would get hurt

Guys isn`t this extremely unsportsmanlike to kick at the knee joint. I mean I would be extremely upset, first off I guess I would make sure to check it but he`s literally aiming for the knees constantly at one point. I would think it`s a violation of the spirit and I`d feel like kicking him in the nuts. Being kicked in the knee like that is worse, as it could ruin you for life and this is a tournament. I guess the only thing you could do is break his knee.. but even that`s falling to hislvl
They aren't kicking the knee, at least not intentionally. They're striking to the outer portion of the thigh, just like thai fighters do. If you haven't had a good shin/instep kick to the thigh, once you do, you'll feel the effectiveness of it. I can drop someone as well as a kick to the head, and the ennervation can make it very difficult for them to stand or fight. If they wanted to break the knee, they'd go straight against the kneecap;striking the side of the knee is far less effective.
No,im not saying trained fighters dont use it. Its just that it requires no stretching. Its not the most effective kick, thats all, you can easily break your leg doing it, check out some break leg clips.
K-1 originted when seidokaikan karate split their kickboxing rules challenge events out from the organization to work as a independent kickboxing promotion company.
Even though it went independent, K-1 is still strongly influenced by the seidokaikan leaders.
The Seidokaikan founder broke out of kyokushin in 1979, together with the founder of ashihara karate, but after only a few months they parted ways and seidokaikan was born.
Kyokushin kai doesnt punch the face in full contact competitions but they are still the only ones that dont wear gloves and kyokushin kai karate ka will never back down from any fight with anyone
one organization of kyokushin has started to allow face punches with thin MMA type gloves. Kyokushin-kan headed By Royama.
They do it side-by-side with the traditional knockdown rule competitions.
But they only started last year, so its still new.
Others do kickboxing style training to get the facepunches. Like the IKO1 organization headed by Matsui, who has its Ichigeki kickboxing gym/tournaments .
This was a good fight. However, in my opinion, it seems dull without punches being allowed 2 the face. So my question is, to anyone interested, are there any known kyokushin organizations that allow face punches? I heard of at least one.
You guys werent there, the Hova-Soukup fight left Jan limping, he had to fight Nakahara,Tanaka and he wasnt Brazilian, Nippon, or Russian, so he had nothing going for him point wise. I'm a karate man myself, but I kinda disagree. There are a lot of fight sports out there from the boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, etc. I believe that the best style or sport is defined by the fighter himself.
Probably b'cuz few shotokan fighters have the balls 2 compete in one. There are fighters in MMA that are karate men, some of which are very successful. Lyoto Machida is a shotokan fighter, though one wouldn't really tell. Georges St. Pierre is kyokushin. Semmy Schilt is ashihara, though most thought he was a pancrase stylist. I bet these guys would if permitted.
Everyone is fast until they get hit. Please remember that both of these fighters have had 7 full contact matches over 2 days and this is their 8th fight. Skill, will and endurance play a part in being the Kyokushin World Champion. This is not their first fight of the tournament when each one is fresh.
To tell the truth, this is not a very technical fight. I did not see their former fights and performance on the competition and it is very hard to judge them from this to minutes of fight.

You are right in saying that the fighters have to have great endurance. I saw a lot of fights when a fighters started very dinamically and after a minute or two he finished with his power...
So congratulation to the fighters, I do not want to critise their result.
Ewerton did great. He has heavy strong fists & hard low kicks. He mastered his final fight... Jan seems to be impressed & cant't manage to overcome that. Anyway, both finalists had a great course...
The tru is Jan had damaged his leg from fights before. When he started this fight he had to go over huge pain, he almoust couldn´t stay on his leg and Texeira took advantage of it ...

Probably you´re watching too much Jackie Chan´s movies...
They´re not supposed to do flying kicks, wheelspin, or even a hadouken during a real kumite.
One of the dozens techniques in a full contact martial art is the great endurance, the power of will to stay fighting till the end.
