@ThatOneMusicGuy789 My apologies. I was in the midst of listening to this period of Lennon's songs when I made that comment. I guess that I needed to "Slow Down".
This is not the best version of this song, but they were young. The solo on here is actually painful to listen to. I subbed for a while when I was waiting for a teaching job to open up, and I did a day as a high school music teacher. The kid that got up to take his trumpet solo in jazz band kinda sounded like this. I'm assuming it was John, but it could have been 12 year old George, or however he was on those first records :)
Its not quite fast enough in fact. And there is some lead over-emphasis prior to the lead solo. Its not the fault of the latter day stereo re.masterer - its how the track was laid originally. There does exist somewhere in the Universe a Beatles vinyl version of this track with the 'detractions' I've cited here missing, as it were.
@spy1965 I don't think so.. see, if john were playing the solo he wouldn't have shouted and started to sing before the solo ends. Just because its too difficult thing to do- I think it's just a bad try of George :D remember that these records were recorded in one take and they were playing all together at once...
@terrafirma91 Glad that you made that observation! I've thought that very same thing my whole life. It could be because I am a rhythm guitarist/singer myself, that I'm a bit bias, but it's great to hear someone else make that observation.
one of the orginal rock n roll songs, everrrrrrr! by god it isssssssssssssss!! and i know, i played that song and they couldnt get enough, i mean it was killer! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
@monusername - With this good quality I see what you mean, but imho I always thought it was John Lennon screaming his throat out - haha. I do a very humble tribute version of this song. Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)
lennon realy made the beatles raise to fame in early records with his great rock songs and vocal's before the rest put there marks too . these early records been completed in very short time .please please me album recorded on same day with some songs from first take .specialy the where no mixing those days but even so john's vocals was amazing.
great great great ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh am getting crazy now love all beatles songssssssss
I like this, it's great, but, there is a little known Apple (non UK) single release, ( I know this was from the Parlophone days, but there you go ) and the mix on that is really thumping and solid, so much so it was like the Beatles 69 and not 64. But, this is A1 too.
Me & my bandmates love playing this song during our gigs. When I first started playing guitar I made it a point to learn this song. It rocks totally....
I love YouTube, I just watched Led Zep from 73 playing Rock N Roll live, then I come here and get a fix of classic rockin Beatles! Kinda makes for a good day! LOL!! :-) Maybe next Queen, Tie Your Mother Down, then some Hendrix...! Ahhh... Thanks for posting...!
Great cover, but unfortunately like some of the Beatles early stereo stuff, this stereo mix with the extreme separation is atrocious. Put on your headphones, listen to this, then listen to the mono version.
Sounds great! Check out my humble tribute cover of Slow Down/I Call Your Name if you get a chance. Regards, The '62 Mathew St. Band (1 Man-Full Group Retro)
@giligara30492 I'm 56 and grew up with the British Invasion and the Beatles were at the top of the list! Played all their albums, picked up a guitar and played all their songs...George Harrison was my idol!

@RojotheRed You're comment is insightful, but irrelevant. This song is originally by Larry Williams.

Pretty sure Lennon is on lead guitar here, and clearly not his best effort. Harrison was on rhythm guitar.
