  • John sings!

  • Comment removed

  • @RojotheRed You're comment is insightful, but irrelevant. This song is originally by Larry Williams.

  • @ThatOneMusicGuy789 My apologies. I was in the midst of listening to this period of Lennon's songs when I made that comment. I guess that I needed to "Slow Down".

  • @RojotheRed lol, just saying. Sorry if I sounded like an ass.

  • @ThatOneMusicGuy789 Not at all. Me mouth got ahead me brain. I am glad that you found it, and you let me down easy my friend.

  • This is not the best version of this song, but they were young. The solo on here is actually painful to listen to. I subbed for a while when I was waiting for a teaching job to open up, and I did a day as a high school music teacher. The kid that got up to take his trumpet solo in jazz band kinda sounded like this. I'm assuming it was John, but it could have been 12 year old George, or however he was on those first records :)

  • Best goddam bar band that ever waled the earth

  • Its not quite fast enough in fact. And there is some lead over-emphasis prior to the lead solo. Its not the fault of the latter day stereo re.masterer - its how the track was laid originally. There does exist somewhere in the Universe a Beatles vinyl version of this track with the 'detractions' I've cited here missing, as it were.

  • hahaha i find it ironic that the song is called slow down but the song is fast hahaha

  • Pretty sure Lennon is on lead guitar here, and clearly not his best effort. Harrison was on rhythm guitar.

  • @spy1965 I don't think so.. see, if john were playing the solo he wouldn't have shouted and started to sing before the solo ends. Just because its too difficult thing to do- I think it's just a bad try of George :D remember that these records were recorded in one take and they were playing all together at once...

  • Oh, that intro!

    The ringtone of my life.

  • Luv this!

  • She's a Woman, I'm Down, Bad Boy, Long Tall Sally, Matchbox, Slow Down... love all the great rock and roll classics!

  • ... That's what she said.

  • this is to good for me to cope with

  • Listen closely to Lennon's rhythm guitar playing. Outstanding! He never received the accolades he so well deserved.

  • @terrafirma91 Glad that you made that observation! I've thought that very same thing my whole life. It could be because I am a rhythm guitarist/singer myself, that I'm a bit bias, but it's great to hear someone else make that observation.

  • So I've learned. I feel the fool..., but thanks.

  • the best version of slow down

  • one of the orginal rock n roll songs, everrrrrrr! by god it isssssssssssssss!! and i know, i played that song and they couldnt get enough, i mean it was killer! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Great cover version of Uncle Larry's Slow Down...John gives it balls

  • THIS IS CLASSEG

  • This song doesn't go in very slow tempo :p

One of my favorite from the Past Masters album - unless it's my favorite!

  • i need your blood and baby oh so bad

  • Larry Williams lo canta Mucho mejor, es mas expresivo, Jhon copio todo de Larry Williams, ojala halla un reconocimiento de paul hacia Larry Williams

  • Wow, the drums are mixed waaaay down here. You can hear a 19 year old George Harrison kinda struggling, but this band had some freakin energy :-).

  • @joe44850 George still rocked it though :D They do have alot of energy, i love them!

  • 1:16 john says boyfriend but also girlfreind, listen closesly lmfao

  • excellent rockin' version of a Larry Williams song from 1961!

  • F-N GREAT song.....

    Not much else to say.

Top five greatest rock band of all time, if not THE greatest.

  • *P*E*R*F*E*C*T*

  • 1:15 John says boy-friend on one track and girl-friend on the other.....

  • @alohmer its probably 'now you dont care a dime for me' i think that's what it is in the original

  • la mejor banda del mundo....

  • John owned this bitch.

  • This voice started "Beetlemania" It is so full of power and gives you positive and loving feeling till today!!

  • Try listening to this song with only the right track...sounds very funky!

  • This is THE best. Ever. Sit down and be quiet. And LISTEN!!!!

  • Love this track!!!

  • two words "fucking amazing"

  • Brian May does a smokin' version of Slow Down from his CD Another World!!

  • Replacements version is better.

  • @cossack77 The Jam's version is even better. ;)

  • Oh give me a little loving give me a little loving if you want our love to love to If you want our love to last.

  • 1:33

  • Love this song but Steve Marriott sings this with more soul and passion. I don't want to get any bodies back up but in my opinion that is the truth.

  • @1968tjg i understand it might be better

but im pretty sure there's a lot of soul and passion in this! :)

  • I love this song! And how john sings it so fast, it magnificent!

  • At 1:40 is it a scream or a guitar sound ?

  • @monusername - With this good quality I see what you mean, but imho I always thought it was John Lennon screaming his throat out - haha. I do a very humble tribute version of this song. Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • @monusername John screaming. :D

  • @monusername It's John's amazing scream <3

  • Is anybody still debating whether they were the greatest?

  • Thank God for giving us The Beatles. The Eighth wonder of the world.

  • great great great ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh am getting crazy now love all beatles songssssssss

  • Strange - in this version they were turning Ringo down, so the groove is not that good as in the original mix

  • George Martin is still alive.

  • John Winston Ono Lennon

    October / 9 / 1940 - December / 8 / 1980

    May He Rest In Peace

  • Funny, (or tragic) when Beatles did covers they did them better. When others do Beatles they do it/them worse, almost always...

  • @MultiSuperstring Not almost always-just always, nobody can reach the Beatles!

  • @MultiSuperstring You possess no knowledge for this.

  • cool cover, but Larry Williams remains unBEATable... it's like the Stones covering Bo Diddley...

  • They'll never be beaten; now or ever.

  • I like this, it's great, but, there is a little known Apple (non UK) single release, ( I know this was from the Parlophone days, but there you go ) and the mix on that is really thumping and solid, so much so it was like the Beatles 69 and not 64. But, this is A1 too.

  • this stereo remaster version is weirdo one:::::: :o

  • Me & my bandmates love playing this song during our gigs. When I first started playing guitar I made it a point to learn this song. It rocks totally....

  • 1:34 Haha!

  • I love YouTube, I just watched Led Zep from 73 playing Rock N Roll live, then I come here and get a fix of classic rockin Beatles! Kinda makes for a good day! LOL!! :-) Maybe next Queen, Tie Your Mother Down, then some Hendrix...! Ahhh... Thanks for posting...!

  • Mal and the Spirits do it better.

  • Lennon's Voicee ROCKS! i lovee the beatles!

  • George Martin would be turning over in his grave. The extreme stereo is awful.

    Great music, though.

  • Comment removed

  • @anneallman1 George Martin isn't dead

  • @anneallman1 I don't think George Martin is dead.

  • John put the rock in the beatles

  • @atomicdoug ever heard of helter skelter. Paul wins the rock one

  • @KAMMM3 not in my book. Paul had too many pansy-ass pop songs.

  • @worldcitizenforever no best Band of all time

  • Johns voice here is amazing!

  • Great cover, but unfortunately like some of the Beatles early stereo stuff, this stereo mix with the extreme separation is atrocious. Put on your headphones, listen to this, then listen to the mono version.

  • Great Vocals!!!!

  • Sounds great! Check out my humble tribute cover of Slow Down/I Call Your Name if you get a chance. Regards, The '62 Mathew St. Band (1 Man-Full Group Retro)
