I once thought they would sound like their Georgia native counterparts : The Black Crowes or R.E.M , but no !

They have their own unique special gift for making music that is truly acceptable in mainstream rock n roll today , their hard rock, post grunge and sometimes bluesy and folksy, BUT NEVER BORING OR OUTDATED .

True, not all their songs are perfect , but some are TRULY GOOD :)

When i saw him on september 11, ed apparently didn't know the song very well, so he had the lyrics taped down on the floor and he was reading them the whole time, LOL! You can see he is doing that in this video, LOL! i love ed :)

i love this song . it is amazing , now i just have to buy their album . I never used to like them until i went to Rockstock 2009 in Chatham, Ontario Canada and saw them live and see how talented they were . I am getting into their older songs too . Collective soul is really cool ,

Some folks here seem to think that Ed Roland is as great a songwriter as Lennon. As an CS fan of 10 years I disagree. Also Roland is better when he is writting songs along WITH other members like December which he wrote with Ross Childress. He is Better writing with others rather than solo. You can tell on the CS albums the ones he wrote mostly by himself & the ones he wrote along with other members. The quality is much better. Theyre a great band. Never wil out do their first 3 albums though.

Ed Roland is a genious. I am never disappointed. I think it is really neat to see him play piano. His voice is warm and comforting. Y always the white shirt though?

If I wanted to hear an Elton John song I would listen to Elton John. Ive been a fan of CS since 1994 but this is dissapointing. Eds always shown Lennon & Beatles influence & I guess after recording with Elton on a CS album he is channeling him now. Im not one of the fans that gets mad when they dont rock on a song but I expect more of a CS sound from these guys. The "All new" sound sounds like theyre going backwards 2 me. I hope I am proven wrong. Thanks for posting this though.

Love that they are adding the piano in the band, but up front,,, Im not so sure, maybe at the side of the stage would be better than the middle. Just saying??
