Cthulu is god. The Mighty Old One. If you don't get the reference to the entire band you should just figure it out and take acid. The books are better than today's acid anyways. So just read books; try to ignore the culturalism.
H.P.Lovecraft himself adopted the stance of atheism early in his life. In 1932 he wrote in a letter to Robert E. Howard: "All I say is that I think it is damned unlikely that anything like a central cosmic will, a spirit world, or an eternal survival of personality exist [sic]. They are the most preposterous and unjustified of all the guesses which can be made about the universe, and I am not enough of a hair-splitter to pretend that I don't regard them as arrant and negligible moonshine.(wiki)

@JohnyLennon16 Sorry no thumbs up. I haven't been as sober as right now in a very long time - still enjoying the music 8hrs drive away from good old Amsterdam
i cant stand how the fuck HP Lovecraft inspire an acid rock band, i mean, i like the songs, are quite crazy, but one thing does nothing to do with the other.
@xXviejas22Xx Well, like Tolkein, Lovecraft had a big revival in the form of a hippy following in the 60s. As I can confirm, reading HPL's works on drugs has a definite appeal.
@ProjectFlashlight612 yeah, but lovecraft would hate this yonkee hippies, and you can´t read on drugs, you may dodge bullets, walk on the wather, but you will never be able to read on drugs, ¿how the fuck can you confirm anything after a drug trip?, you can't, may be you can do it with a video camera, and if you read on drugs that reading has no effect in your dead brain at the moment you are in drugs, so you still on the same situation, can´t confirm shit.
@xXviejas22Xx If had the slightest experience with drugs you would know that it takes A LOT of drugs to be unsure about what's reality and what's hallucination. I'm talking like 10+ hits of acid. And besides psychedelics, most other drugs don't test your existential well-being. And please stop saying that a mind is a dead mind on drugs. You obviously don't know about the HUNDREDS of psychologists, scientists, and philosophers who actively used and promoted LSD, among other drugs. You bigot.
@CrispyShambles You are not conscient on drugs, if you take 10+ hits of acid you cant remember shit of what you do, psychologists are cheap bastards, hundreds is a little number, only yonkees use and promote drugs, if we have to tolerate every damn chimp on earth we will stay in the jungle for ever.
@xXviejas22Xx You most defiantly will remember your experiences on 10+ hits of acid. In fact, it'll become a turning point in your life and a test of your blissful morals and values, a reformation of all that you hold to be truth and real. I can tell by your comments that you've never experienced LSD, or any other psychedelic, and you're talking completely out of your ass. I know there are some horrid drugs out there, like Heroin and blow, but you should do some drugs before you criticize them.
@CrispyShambles The pitfall is when one comes to believe in their hallucinations. it's good, I guess to throw the cards in the air and pick them up, but doing it too much leads to oblivion.... seen enough of that back then. Drugs are dangerous no matter whether it is Rx, hard, pot, or psychedelics. The art obtained through LSD use had, has, it's price. Yours seems to be spelling and raging in postings. Alienation, anyone? LSD; "Love you today, don't know you tomorrow."
Having lived the 60s and seen all of these Bands and more Live. I would go back in a New York minute. Those of us that lived it feel very disconnected from today's world & Music. It just isn't Groovy Man .
@dbrew2u hey man I'm 26 and I feel what you sayin, every day...the whole western population is brainwashed by medias and couldn't tell a turd from a flower even if they try....opposite to let's say Indian people, for example, they still retain soul and are connected with something higher... so today artists need to keep their feeling and emotions locked in a safe, more and more . Sorry for the rant anyway,I just felt your comment.
One day me and my friend went out to the forrest and dropped some LSD. I have this song and many others of HP Lovecraft on my phone. Well, we played HP Lovecraft, the Storybook and the Strawberry Alarm Clock. What a beautiful trip man and a beautiful experiance.
This is really awesome! Im a huge fan of the psychedelic rock/folk and theres so much music i havent heard yet, everyday i find something more :D thanks for the uppload man!
An excellent Psychedelic 5 star song: At the Mountains of Madness - H.P. Lovecraft [Chicago, Illinois] - 1968 - "Good first impression on this Psychedelic Rock song that reminds me of Jefferson Airplane at their BEST. AMG Pick. The vocal harmony especially Dave Michael's four-octave range (back-up vocals) is OUTSTANDING!" - Two Classic Albums from H.P. Lovecraft: H.P. Lovecraft/H.P. Lovecraft II (Collectors' Choice Music)-2000.
for those who are bashing this music or other music, its personal preference. not possible, logically anyways, to badmouth what another person likes, takes pride in, or creates. although this music is much different than groups such as Nox Arcana, brings with it a different atmosphere. more of a wild, crazy and distant, but familiar, atmosphere. I find it very akin to Lovecraft's stories in one way, but nowhere close in other views. again, personal preference....
Karl Sanders works better for me to read a novel like "At The Mountains of Madness". I`m pretty sure that none of you would get in mood listening to that hippy stuff in order to read a book like that...
Wonderful. It is like early Pink Floyd meets the Great Old Ones. Though putting Roger Waters and David Gilmore in a recording studio with Cthulu and Azsathoth. Though I don't know which would have the biggest ego.....
I'd have to say that songs like Orion or Call Of Ktulu songs fit better but still this isn't that bad at all.Maybe the sound should be a bit darker.
As for those who complain about LSD music well I hear the crap music we have today and all those bands that say no to drugs.I prefer my musicians on LSD if they can make great songs.
Todays music is just a troucious, factory process garbage from the likes of the Jonas Brothers, American Idol or American Idiot as I like to call it.I agree with you on the music today no talent.
That is such a foolish thing to say when there SO many good bands out there. No, there's nothing good in the top 40, you have to look to find it. It just sounds to me like you're not much of a music fan. You cant expect to find something you love if you think its going to be handed to you.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, today's pop music just has no talent.
If you want to hear some incredible stuff try Deathspell Omega, Karl Sanders, or anything like that. That stuff fits with At The Mountains of Madness much better than this hippy bullshit.
Lol the music these days is just a matter or fixed beats and repeated phrases. let the ergot poisioning open up the soul and make even more insane grumbles, yells and whispers....that is talent my friend!
HPL Puritans will probably hate this but I think its great in its own right. I read the books in the '90s after watching John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness, and loved it. The music is not Metal but has a different perspective on the Mythos.
@squarepyramid99 I actually don't mind them anymore, they've got a unique sound. They still fail in comparison to H.P. Lovecraft's work but, they are one of the things keeping him out there. :D
Nox Arcana...A crap Goth put on nothing even remotely origional in their work, a thousand goth cliches rehashed..if it wasn't for bands like Mad River, and the Dark Psychedelic music, or say Hawkwind stuff like that that had the guts to push music to new extremes, Nox Arcana couldnt put over an unfunny joke at your expenses. sorry this is real musicians playing real music.
i was gonna get this classic record on ebay for a great price but woke up by the time the bidding was over....and there was only one bidder!!!!he got it for like 10 dollars...i could of outbidded that twat.....the record was in great shape too
Check out the Live cd Live from the Fillmore 5-11-68. This song is on it as well as The Drifter, Wayfaring Stranger and more. Totally mind blowing live performance!
One day me and a friend where out on a camping site review for a multi-party camping trip we got totaly lost looking for Molotov Diggins and it was getting late. I got the strangest feeling that we should turn down a unmarked/unpaved Mountain road, it was then that the radio (which had been playing static) suddenly started playing this song and the rest of the album, 3 hours later we found molotove diggins.
stoner trip music at its finest from the late 60's. they used to play around here in Chi. back then, Kinetic Playground, The Cellar, etc; but I was in jr. high then and never saw them. I was into the books of H.P.back then, so I remembered the band, still got the LP. Peace
@irishelk1 hahah! you dumbfuck, why would you want to start a controversy by stating that heavy metal is shit? You know what? You just don´t have the BALLS to listen to Heavy Metal you mental retarded.. go listen Pet Shop Boy fucking sissy....

Are people like you a bit "hit with a plank against the head" unselfaware ?

I'd have to say that songs like Orion or Call Of Ktulu songs fit better but still this isn't that bad at all.Maybe the sound should be a bit darker.
As for those who complain about LSD music well I hear the crap music we have today and all those bands that say no to drugs.I prefer my musicians on LSD if they can make great songs.
Overall this is not bad at all.
Methoswicca 2 years ago 27
Todays music is just a troucious, factory process garbage from the likes of the Jonas Brothers, American Idol or American Idiot as I like to call it.I agree with you on the music today no talent.
usisguy 2 years ago 5
That is such a foolish thing to say when there SO many good bands out there. No, there's nothing good in the top 40, you have to look to find it. It just sounds to me like you're not much of a music fan. You cant expect to find something you love if you think its going to be handed to you.
frostybob123 2 years ago 2
Oh Yes I am a very big musical fan more than you can imagine.
usisguy 2 years ago
Ok, well maybe it was a little harsh of me to word it like that. I just firmly believe that the best music has to be looked for
frostybob123 2 years ago 4
I agree, and thanks I know what you mean all is cool my friend.

No, today's pop music just has no talent.
If you want to hear some incredible stuff try Deathspell Omega, Karl Sanders, or anything like that. That stuff fits with At The Mountains of Madness much better than this hippy bullshit.
forestfeanor 1 year ago
you mean that terrible core metal shit.... and if you check out the tab for that band its just all shitty as fuck but played fast

@Methoswicca haven't you noticed the doped out bands make better music then the shit we have today? such as justin bieber and such
Cmm333 1 year ago
@Methoswicca
Lol the music these days is just a matter or fixed beats and repeated phrases. let the ergot poisioning open up the soul and make even more insane grumbles, yells and whispers....that is talent my friend!
buttheadx9 1 year ago
HPL Puritans will probably hate this but I think its great in its own right. I read the books in the '90s after watching John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness, and loved it. The music is not Metal but has a different perspective on the Mythos.

@squarepyramid99 I actually don't mind them anymore, they've got a unique sound. They still fail in comparison to H.P. Lovecraft's work but, they are one of the things keeping him out there. :D

If you want hear music that has the atmosphere of h,p listen Nox arcana
tunicaroja86 2 years ago
Nox Arcana...A crap Goth put on nothing even remotely origional in their work, a thousand goth cliches rehashed..if it wasn't for bands like Mad River, and the Dark Psychedelic music, or say Hawkwind stuff like that that had the guts to push music to new extremes, Nox Arcana couldnt put over an unfunny joke at your expenses. sorry this is real musicians playing real music.

Is Molotov Diggins a guy or a town? Either way...glad you found! I've had nights like that too...scary!!

stoner trip music at its finest from the late 60's. they used to play around here in Chi. back then, Kinetic Playground, The Cellar, etc; but I was in jr. high then and never saw them. I was into the books of H.P.back then, so I remembered the band, still got the LP. Peace
