As a kid I was a huge Evel Knievel fan but using a Harley on his jumps was always just a mistake. Even my wind up toy Evel landed badly most of the time... I was a kid riding minibikes at the time and could never work out why he wouldnt use a dirtbike and actually land his jumps...Robbie learnt from his dads mistake.. if you look at how his bike bounces on this landing its exactly how Evels Harley would land and bounce Evel into Hospital. Robbie gets to go home in one piece...
Yeah, I agree with you, Robbie still does ROCK. I can't do what he does that's for sure. Him and many Daredevils are matching or exceeding a stunt but sometimes with today's technology they are falling just short of the "Dare" in Daredevil as it was when someone else initially did the stunt. The day a Daredevil buys/rebuilds an Evel era bike or works with one of the many custom bike manufactures to build one (all totally plausible) & then introduces it into their act; the credibility, wow!!!
I really respect Robbie but we need to put something into perspective here. His father (God rest his soul) did all his jumps with a motorcycle that weighed a whole lot more than what Robbie & other daredevils are using today. A heavier bike calls for a lot more danger & a plethora of extra variables & skills to take on board. Robbie landed on the flat portion of the ramp, just short of the ideal slope landing. Had that been a bike like his fathers, the jump would be credited but the result...?!
Jumping from a ramp onto a huge pile of dirt, where if you land 5-10 feet to the left or right is no big deal, is one thing..but jumping and landing onto a traditional landing ramp, you gotta admit, is a helluva lot more dangerous. This took a lot more guts. Knievel is the first and last word in motorcycle jumping.
There might be more guys jump further than Evel or Robbie, but who in the hell has ever heard of them? Robbie Maddison has made the longest jump and I seen that jump live BUT he didnt draw over 40,000 people at that jump like Robbie did at Kings Island. The Knievel name will ALWAYS be the biggest in motorcycle jumping. Would be like silvertone trying to out do Martin & Company building guitars. Ain't going to happen!
listen you fuckface. "by today's standards"? jumping onto a huge ass pile of dirt where the danger factor is reduced so much is no fucking big deal. jumping onto asphalt is a helluva lot more dangerous you uneducated piece of shit. why don't you crawl back into your mother's hole and don't come out until you work your way up past stupid.
Nice mouth. You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you? Get a little more angry over my stupid little comment on a LAME jump! Evel was awesome, Robbie ain't that good. Sorry.
i was there that day but i didn't have the chance to see it.

Hey, Robbies launch ramp is only 10 ft. tall and he went over 200 ft. Maddison had a 20 plus ft. tall ramp tall ramp to go 321.
