@BigDDe You can't upgrade anything inside your macbook apart from the ram, optical drive and hard drive, whereas a mac pro is nearly completely upgradeable. You should get a new MacBook, especially if you have a MBP 1,1, which is really old. If you are looking for dedicated graphics, get a 15 or 17 inch MB, and if you seek mobility, get a MBP 13.

I don't understand how it is a waste of money. Your graphics card is too old to play any games and you should have done research for the minimum specs of the game before you bought and made sure it would run. If anything would have been a waste of money it would have been Portal 2

Chances are if the CAD programs do require a Quadro simple File mods would make them accept the Geforce, as done with Premiere, since the limitations are strictly software, Quadro's don't really bring anything to the table that Geforce don't, besides a Device ID and a Card name that certain programs will prefer?

Ati Radeon 5770 HD is shit at the moment.

If you compare the price between a $3200 dollar mac pro and a windows based pc, with a pc you have $1200 and then you still got a better processor and more ram, overall better.

If Apple would have updated the mac pro with the latest ATI graphic cards and higher Ghz processors, and a standard of 8 DDR3 Ram, i'd simply would rush over to the mac store!

I use a software called hasselblad phocus, which requires a lot of graphics horsepower. Lately, the software has been crashing while loading HUDGE pictures.

As I am still using the 7300 from Nvidia, I think my mac pro is due to a gpu upgrade.
