I think posters against the waste of paper have missed the point: The machine combats spam in two ways: Firstly, it uses antispam software to harvest spammer's addresses and get them blacklisted. Secondly, it is an artpiece (an installation) which visually shows what's going on. It gets its message accross to a far bigger audience. If it were just a computer with a note next to it saying "this is a spam trap" it wouldn't be nearly as effective.
Nice concept and although it's nice to see the pile of paper to show how much spam you've gotten, it still wastes energy and materials to recycle the paper
i guess its a nice idea but has little practicality. well the print shred part anyway. why do that? even if it is recycled. but its great to lure in spammers then send them to he lists thing
that's a nice piece of settings. but I don't understand the point of printing them out and shredding them straight after. It's imaginable that people can get annoyed by spams for wasting their mailbox storage. But sometimes, they can also get frustrated by tree-killer ...
This is very NOISY!!

What an insensate waste of paper! (even if it was only for the movie, it is disturbing).

yes waste of paper.. do you know all the chemicals they have to remove from that paper before they can actually recycle it.
Paper Recycling is a Joke. it uses way more resources than it conserves.

It's almost Dada in its glorification of uselessness, only a mad mind could use so much time to achieve this. Duhhhhh !

Like Duchamp's toilet, only with moving parts. I loathe it! It's genius! Love, Andy Warhol.

Maybe just do all that without the wastage?

Conceptually interesting but annoying to watch. It's the noise of the shredding that gets on my nerves. But don't get me wrong, still interesting.

Not entirely the same concept now, is it?
I can't help but wonder whether half the people who have posted here have ever been to an actual art gallery...

The paper used in spamtrap is recycled afterwards. Paper used in Spamtrap also contains a percentage of post consumer recycled paper.
