  • Is there a difference from regular LED lights to LED grow lights with indoor gardening and plants?

  • @lerumaster LEDs have a different nm rating and you need the proper nm spectrum. To get the proper led setup, you would have to DIY or purchase LED ufos which would running around $350-400(2 fixtures). What you need is fluorescent fixtures/bulbs rated at around 6500k. IMO it's a gimmick to buy "grow bulbs" for vegetative plants. For fruiting/root plants, then you need varying spectrums.

  • Clear plastic containers and bottles - actually everything polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins - will slowly but steadily 'leak' Bisphenol-A (BPA) into any moisture that it comes into contact with. This will be exasperated by increased temperatures (nearby lighting and sunshine). BPA acts like an estrogen, causing fertility problems, decreased sperm count, breast and prostate cancers, childhood obesity, increases in neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism. Use ceramic or glass!

  • @TheOneAndOnlyMichel The temps are nada from those fixtures. Best things to do is to sheet something with polyethylene/propylene(tarp essentially). That's if planting in that thing is the only option. That's all in regards to BPA for human consumption. BPA mixed in with nutrients for plants are different, but I'm sure they're able to absorb BPA and show no signs of absorption, which could be dangerous. There could be a reaction once in the plant as well, not sure.

  • Another cool plant is the TickleMe Plant. It MoVes and closes its leaves when Tickled! This is real search Pet TickleMe Plant

  • *your LOL

  • Love you user name! ;)

  • Great video! Very informative. One of my gardening books says that fluorescents that are more blue are great for leafy vegetables, and more red fluorescents are great for fruiting plants (tomatoes). Just a thought, as you said one of your fluorescents was more pink. Will watch for more of your videos!

  • Nice looking garden!

  • You can get regular white bulbs for cheaper and 3200 lumens.

  • You will need High pressure sodium or Metal Halide lights to flower so I hear. I have seen the difference and it worth the money. 150 watt hps works great and no heat issues. Good luck!

  • my name is Kevin & i started a company in 2010 that sells 100% pure rainwater in 30 & 50 gallon drums! Because Mobile gets the most rainfall in the United States i'm able to provide such a sercive ! anyone who wants nothing but the best for their plants should check out my site & buy some 100% pure rainwater from me ! google South Alabama Water Supply if you are interested

  • I like the idea of clear containers. They could be used as tiny greenhouses for sprouts. :)

  • Hello 1ShaolinStyle, what growing medium did you use with your plants and what nutrients did you give them? I really find your setup very simple yet very effective and economical. Thanks for sharing this video :)

  • Very nice...informative. Thanks!!!!

  • i was thinking of putting a 400w hps light in a closet (typical size) to grow vegtables over the winter months. would a 400w hps light create too much heat with out ventaltion?

  • Not much is said about indoor growing. Any time in the past when I've tried to research this topic on this site, it always comes up with pot grows. I've spoke with people in garden shops with NO LUCK. They all say to just keep the plants by the windows. Well we all know that doesn't always work in the winter. I grow citrus trees indoors. I found a hydroponics shop that taught me more about lighting. I've been using one t 5 light that is 4' long with 4 bulbs in it, and it has done wonders!

  • Does the cost of the lighting work out where you are saving money on the food itself?? Looks great... Thanks for the video!

  • hi, I love the concept and I'm looking to construct a cost-effective design for myself.

    1) how much energy do those grow lights suck up? (in terms of a dollar amount)

    2) what's the clearance space between the lights and the plants?

  • wouldnt it just be better to use light from your window. by the time you include the cost of the elcricity along with the water dirt containers and lights, it would be way more expensive than buying organic

  • Any webisite where i could get some atuomated lightings to plant? My light is 230V by the way...

  • @dudueloveass I got mine from the Ace hardware store. They are also used for xmass lighting.

  • Great vid. You should look into LED grow lights. Extremely efficient. Peace.

  • Hey man I got another question. what spectrum do you use for your greens? i know for veggies and fruits you use 6400K to grow and then and then 2700K for when you want flowers. well since greens don't produce fruits like beans and such so IDK do you still switch? also do you know anything about goring onions and other root crops like that? thanks man.

  • wehre the heck do you guys find the grow lights at home depot? I thought they would be by the lights but then i went by the garden stuff but no luck there. WTF??

  • You should be able to find them by all the lights, if not ask one of the emplyees that you are looking for grow lights. If you still have problems you can try your local nursery or look online.

  • @1ShaolinStyle ohh thats right the nursery's, thanks. I asked at home depot and they all where like a grow what? lol I forgot about the nursery's though thanks. (brain fart) lol

  • @1ShaolinStyle how to get i

  • @SPCkeith you dont have to look specifically for grow lights. Grow lights are just strong flourescent lights so any or those you find will work

  • @SPCkeith

I'm using Philip's Daylight Deluxe T8 bulbs with my 100% artificially lit WindowFarm. It seems ok so far.

  • @SPCkeith Lowe's carries grow lites. Ive used regular florescent lites too.

  • Very nice use of the container and its lid for its water saucer ;) Never thought about using the lids for that. Agree on the last comment about greens..people would be shocked if they read up on the subject and also baby sprouts they are packed full of nutrients and tasty tasty!

  • I am glad you enjoyed it. This is my first year growing greens in the winter outside and so far so good. Have a great day and happy gardening indoors or out.

  • This is an excellent, inspiring video. Thank you so much for this. It's very informative & helpful.

  • wow....sooo good..!!!!

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • I always thought plants couldn't produce a vegetable without being pollenated by bees. I've heard there are some self pollenating plants. Because bees are dissappearing. If this works I will try this too.

  • @maximumcorruption Yes, there are some self-pollinating plants. I don't know any of them but i do know that some plants have male and female plants and the male pollinates the female

  • I've heard the same thing, maximumcorruption. It's really sad about the bees.

  • Thanks for the video!! I did not think a garden could grow indoors.

  • Great job, your doing exellent:}

  • place aluminum foil under the plants it will reflect light to the under side on the plant and help them grow

  • If everyone grows a garden this year it will be very helpful. Find a group of people locally to trade foods with.

  • Cool video, thanks for sharing!

  • So far I plan to use ash. I got the idea from pioneerliving, she has some vids on that and I highly recommend you watching some of her vids. I also have some organic garlic spray, which I here works well, but I am still tring to see what works best.

  • Cool video, do you have anything planned for pesticides?

  • I know that you can use certain herbs as pesticides... but you don't want to use chemicals.

  • I'm glad that you told us about the lights. 9 bucks for lights...good tip.

  • I live in southeast Alaska, so I'm not able to do that stuff. You're so lucky. Good job.

  • Thank you. I will do a follow up soon, my bell peppers are growing.

  • Fantastic you've got it! 5 stars-sarah

  • cop the aerogarden, It's only 160 bones man.. But when the electricity is out, it's useless.. Good vid bro.

  • Great job, it was worth the wait! Things are looking very nice, keep it up. Thank you for all your support! =D

  • Great job with the first video and thanks for sending me the message so I could enjoy it. Of course now I'm hungry. But I'll wait for the tomatoes and bell peppers. It's been raining steady here since I said I was turning farmer with my grape vine..what? Farmers get wet? Not this one.

  • Awesome!! Thanks!! MOT

  • Great Job! Look so forward to all your future vids as well. I really need to grow indoor and organic is so important5*

  • Great job! I take my hat off to you and hope that many others follow by example.

  • Thank you so much for your support. Much love to you and your family.

  • This is very exciting to see. Insightful, thoughtful, resourceful, and your family is going to eat so well. It will be great to see what yields and works best. I think my back patio would be an exceptional place to try some container gardens and I'll watch your plants and take notes. Everything looks very divine. So much good luck to you. Your camera is great, whichever one you picked. Awesome to see a new YT'er, with a new angle, & a fantastic twist to fuel collective ascent! Yippee...
