Beyond your obvious skills with synthesizers, which is easily the best I've seen on Youtube, you are also an excellent cinematographer. I mean this in that when I watch your videos, I'm not just watching some guy play a synth, I'm watching it with scary-ass cut-ins that legitimately terrify me.
The more I watch your videos, the more I understand that you are in a world far beyond what is available to you as far as synths, if I had your skills I would probably build a synthesizer myself.
Nice Nine Inch Nails-part at around 7:30 to 7:48! Thanks alot by the way man, I wasn't sure what to get but this (and the second part of this video) made me decide to buy this.
where did you got that last horrible scene? what movie is it from? i think i watched a really long time ago (it really disturbed me) but i cant remember the tittle...
don't let this guy sell any synthesizer to you just buy his programming. WC olo Garb is a master. Plain a simple. Truly amazing programming, man. Best on youtube.
Yo i'm SOLD on this!!!! I was already like dang this thing got some DOPE sounds on it, but once it got past the 7:00 mark that took it to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL lolol gotta get one! -B
well the nord lead 2x is the best . most people don't like how it does not have effects, but most good engineers don't use the built in effects anyway. Effects on synths are novel. you can synthesize some of them anyway.
It's ironic that everyone is praising the Nord Lead 2x in these comments.
If you go to Jexus' website he actually says it's the most disappointing synth he's ever owned. Overhyped, too expensive and often limiting sonically and feature-wise (in his words).
Nonetheless, this video is one of his better demos.
@iv0luti0n You pay for the interface and simplicity, I guess. Nords are the Macs of the synth world. They're straightforward and sound great for bread-and-butter sounds.
@whizkid515 I agree. I personally have nothing against Nord synths. Everyone has their right to choice. I demoed a Nord Wave at my local music store. I liked the sounds, the key-bed and the build quality.
I find some of Jexus' reviews really subjective. He calls the Matrix 6R "thin and tinny" sounding. Something that I disagree wholeheartedly with, because I own one myself.
@iv0luti0n: Yeah, I also found iJexus' comment interesting. But according to him the Nord Lead 2x is less of a disappointment than the first Nord Lead. Still a disappointment, though.
Both sound a lot more sterile than the Korg Z1 which sounds almost purely analog compared to the Nord Leads. And the Z1 is described as ice cold by many people.
There really aren't many VA's that do as good a job as the Nord Lead 2 does. I'd have to say the only VA in the same league is the Access Virus. There are other ones that are good, but just dont get anywhere near as aggressive. I'd get one myself but I'm going to invest in a Mopho/Tetra combo and Juno 106 most likely. We'll see.
@appelflappatat I've gotta say I agree in many things you say, the Nord Lead might not be the most versatile synth out there, but the sounds he makes with the NL2x really has character and manages to leave an impression on you, stronger than most synths I've heard, there's something in the tone of it that I really enjoy, and I'm not saying that because I'm swedish, or a fan of the commonly "accepted" synth sounds in mainstream music.. The NL2x is just a beautiful sounding instrument, period :)
Alltough you've made the fattest coolest sounds of maybe all your video's with this nord lead 2x, it seems that you don't like this synth very much. ("overhyped", "limiting", "disappointing" you say on your site). Why?
The MS200, Ion, Sirius,or even the Blofeld don't sound as fat as the 2x in this video.
Great demo, but you should get Nord Lead 3. I just got mine in mint condition and this synths blows me away! I have about 20 other synths but this is the best and the easiest to program, 3 lfos (including one for vibrato) + arpeggiator, second section of filters, 4op fm. NL2x is very poor comparing to NL3. I'm in shock how fucking great this synth is! I wonder why they stopped offering nord lead 3.
@KovalStudios I guess you should try to get the hands on a Peavey Spectrum Synth including Programmer. This thing even blows the Nord Lead Series and even the Matrix-Series away. It has 24 Voices, has nearly 300 different Parameters to set, 4 Oscillators with each 127 Waveforms, 6 Envelopes, 2 independent Filters with 4 different Modes, 15 Modulation Sources which can modulate nearly every parameter, two LFOs. And it is a hybrid, mainly digital, but NOT VA. It looks small ,but it is not
Great keyboard playing and good sound demonstration. Love this video! You got a lot of groove and it´s cool to see you performing on this great Synth :)
Agreed. I was just thinking about how these posts make me want to buy every synth he demos even though I know myself and they'd just end up dusty, on a shelf.
In my opinion there is something from a movie. Something like "American Beauty " or " Beautyful MInd" :) I have this on the tip of one's tongue . Help !
im favouriting this video just to listen to 2:00 fuck me that sounds o awesome, im thinking of buying a synth to broaden my guitar paying a little, ive had an r3 before and was very very dissapointed, but this and the ms2000 look kindacool , any opinions ?
@metalsinani I play guitar and had a R3 for a while, a year ago, also got a bit dissapointed although I didn't knew nothign about synthesis. Nowadays I'd enjoy a lot more with it.
I think the sound being not as punchy as I expected and the bad feeling knobs where the major let down, being accustomed to a good guitar with great pick ups and selected tube amp...etc,
I've just bought a used Waldorf microQ and I like it a lot!
If I was you and could afford a Blofeld I'd go for one for sure.IMO
I think the Nord's demos are one of the best of Jexus, but he says on his website that the synth is somewhat disappointing. The demos are very good thought
