li agree but some of the new super milks lyk micelar caseims and hydrolysed wheys they cn gain far mre usable protien these days in a mre balanced bait, plus with the use of certain emulsefiers the cn utalise mre still or use with soluble and predigested fishmeals and make something a lil special?to be honest bait makings become all encompassing at the mo its mre addictive than fishing!lol you are indeed ryt about nuts yet they serve very lil value and yet theyll eat em to the point of illness??
ive bin using dissolving baits myself, takes a bit of faith in your approach and your baits but ive bin impressed so far,nt sure about milks for the summer but well av t see,i use heron baits savoury fish for the last 2 summers but ive got addicted to messing with ingriedients,i do the same if i need to increase the bouyancy of my pops, there just not bouyant enough maybe nashys pop up mix,bt cork balls solve all problems, milks do seem to b forgotten these days,if only ppl realised how gd they are
Milk proteins are expensive and the carp just cannot utilise them fully so they are expensive from a nutritional and a bait making point of view.
Basically Fred Wilton got it a bit wrong. I have to say that inside, I felt it was not quite right myself. It was back in the 80ts when I first learned of his theories. Although I slavishly used High Protein Baits I never felt that they were getting me the results. By 1983 I had abandoned them and gone over to fishmeals, and carbs ect.
Why does a carp pick up a tiger nut which, nutritionally is completely useless to it? The sugars! It gets a signal that there is food there and so the carp eats it. Give it a better signal and some food as well
nice fish ste, your ryt i cud see the releif on your face,we all get it m8y,gr8 init?ste do you use milk proteins in the winter or use em in your ingreidients in your own line of baits?id lyk your thougts on em if you dnt mind
I use milk proteins for there bait making properties rather than the nutritional value. Casien and or whey in my hard hookbaits and casinates for popups and baits that need to be more buoyant.
This winter I have been using one of my baits (Red Berry) soaked in a liquid food source. They turn out after twelve hours like solid balls of paste almost and just ooze out the juice. Had a few nice fish on it too before it all froze over:(
There sweet but the so called free replacment if broken is a con and will cost you (get this!) A Handling Charge £25-£35?? which is £20-£30 more than the postage costs.....
i use mono line and it is perfect for my short range fishing. whenever i go to a larger lake i do feel the difference with the distance. less contact with the fish due to the stretching.
i think thats the best behaved fish you have ever caught Steve

RSattacker 3 years ago
Use simple rigs.
fancy rigs are just that. fancy.
i only use a few rigs but mostly its 8 inches of fluorocarbon and a size 8 D-Ceptor with a 1.5 inch hair.
If i ever find the time i will do a rigs video at the moment i am putting together an article on it that will be on my site at some point soon:)
