@nerkman I never learned traditional grip, but I have no problem ghosting using match grip. I do however play what I call reverse traditional grip at times, where I hold my right hand with the traditional gripping and my left with the match grip. I never really think about it, It just sort of happens. lol
Hello, i have 2 questions: i'm interested in learn how to play the drums, however, i dont have drums i can use. Is there a useful way where i can learn how to play the drums without having drums until i can get them in the near future. Also i was curious if the older you get the harder it'll be able for me to learn. I just turn 19 and i was interested in learning
@Maoli1992Pride Hmm. Maybe think about getting a practice pad kit first, so that you can work on proper technique, coordination, and getting used to proper drum placement. As for the second question, you're never too old to start learning something. Believe it or not, some of my older students progress at a much quicker rate than my younger students, mainly because they have already developed the cognitive skills to understand the math and counting involved, as well as having more focus.
@Maoli1992Pride Hey man.. i started drumming when i was 19 and i didn't have much trouble grasping the basics.. thing is finding how you learn and using that. as for the no drum situation you can find a full kit on person to person websites (ei kajiji) for dirt cheap or rentals from your local musical instrument retailer.
this groove is a james brown. the GOD FATHER OF SOUL WHO GAVE Clyde a lot of feels for these grooves. not putting Clyde down I myself being a drummer and having hit records he was one of my favorites. I LOVE that tip end high hat double. i,v used that many times in solos. keep it going. HIT IT HARD AND WISH IT WELL.
Thank you very much for putting these videos up. You are a great teacher. I previously learned Cold Sweat from another youtube video and now realize that he had it all wrong. By the way, after seeing one of your videos I purchased that Hammerax stacker. Such a great cymbal for a low price.
very good man! but i dont play the drums anymore.... the keys take all spare time, used to play drums fulltime before, in jazzband - all the best - Levi
Actually I always believed that Stubblefield played on funky drummer an additional ghosted ''and'' at the second 4th (1 e and a 2 e AND a) on the snare. Even if I dishear, this little ghosted note makes me move more when i try to play this amazing piece of drumming. Anyway, great video and I really like the sound of these hammerax hats too! Cheers
hey men, you have a nice feel to play this music....sounds better than me!!!.....hahahahhahahahahahahahaha........are very very good your lessions!!!!:....congratulations...please, see, my videos, and tell me about its.....
@bcdigiart141 Andrew McAuley 15" Under Violets by Hammerax cymbals. They're a custom set and have micro cups hammered into them for a darker sound and other sound options. All of my cymbals are made by Hammerax.
Andrew, I've noticed that you're using match grip for these particular grooves.
Not much a fan for trad grip? I figured that might be easier to do ghost notes on the snare...
