What you don't understand, is that acts like being able to by health insurance across state lines would create competition and drive the cost down. You don't need a hand out, you need accessibility. He's not doing anything for "political gain", he's doing it because America has unique values based on freedom. We don't want to be required to buy something... Or be required to pay for others to have it!
