  • This is a really amazing production for high school

  • This is remarkably good for a HS.

  • Gavroche is pretty BOSS

  • Gave me chills.

    Love it

  • Gavroche Was Amazing!

  • I think the Gavroche is just a tad bit old but other than that, FANTASTIC!

  • tTOO MANY GIRLS!

  • Wow Your Set Is Amazing!!! Obviously Good singing, Goes Without Saying Really :D x

  • my school is doing this musical, im so excited! i cant wait to audition! i doubt we'll be as good as you though.

  • Gavroche is very amazing. :) he looks pretty cute for a kid, too

  • i was just cast as marius :D

  • There is absoulutly no passion in this singing! Not compared to the broadway version! This is totally un-thrilling.

  • the guy that played enjoras missed out a rest at the part were it goes "with all the anger in the land *ment to be rest" how long before the judgement day" i know it is smalll but that is the only thing i found wrong with it!! well done

  • That's a pretty bad ass Gavroche! I approve!

  • Very Professional looking for High School!

  • Désolée, mais c'est laid en anglais; le français est beaucoup plus mélodieux.

  • How old was this Gavroche?

  • You were Enjorlas? Great job!

  • that was awesome! :D

  • Gavroche jest naprawdę horny!

  • yeah that's so cool dood

  • @Guttrooper no one is impressed with what you have to say

  • @Guttrooper brag much!! I'm sure your choir is wonderful but knocking someone else makes you seem a little insecure. This, actually looks like a very well done production as I am sure your schools was. Not everything needs to be a competition. There are lots of talented kids out there let's celebrate them all.

  • I don't know why everyone is being so mean...

First of all, this was a high school performance. It's not gonna be as good as Broadway. I thought it was amazing! And Gavroche was very good in my opinion!

  • props to enjolras

  • Wow! That was a lot of bad comments!

    Really guys, grow up!

If all of you think that this Gavroche is bad you should see the clip where he dies!

It's probably the best death of Gavroche!

  • not trying to be mean, but, have you thought that it might be a character voice? We recently did part of les mis in a production at my school, and that was part of the act. I spent 4 hours one day tryin to perfect my character voice.

  • give some videos, crazy bitch

by the ay: little eponine? a very difficult caracter? xD

  • gavroche is terrible i sing at a choir school and we have janotors who sing better than that gavroche

  • Is Gavroche a girl or a boy in this production?

  • boy.

  • Jean Valjean sounds like a Jonas Brother

  • why is the barricade built already

  • david carlson is good at gavroche

  • i agree!

this is extremely well done for HS and all around really. the attention to detail is amazing.

  • I'm the guy wrapped up in the blanket with the tan hat at 0:36. :]]

    GO US!!!

  • revolve? ahah, when my school did our version of les miserables, the second day of the show, our revolve broke down and we had to stop the show. it was awful.

pretty legit show, though. good job. :)

  • Is it just me or does the set seem a little over the top for a high school preformance, I understand maybe a book school having that talent, but the set is wow.

  • These sets were designed by Shelley Malcolm who is a set designer. This school, Nipomo High School, put on amazing shows. I have seen most of their shows 'cause my daughter was in this show (little Cosette)

  • I loved Enjorlas!

  • On another night I found a goblet from master of the house that was left on stage.

  • Haha my hat fell on this night in this scene. You can see it. Its 56 seconds in.

  • Gaveroche has a bit of a deep voice on this he is ment to have a sweet little soft voice but still good

  • Was it just me or was Enjorlas a bit sharp?

  • this is a highschool this is friggin good

  • of all the American Gavroche's I've heard this one is my favorite (and by that I mean he's one of the few I can stand which is sad b/c I AM American)

  • American gavroches make me want to kill myself.

  • Really enjoyed this!

  • Gavroche and Enjolras are great but I wish Marius would stop scooping his voice.

  • haha sorry...that last comment was from my friend who has my account password!!! haha sorry...she's obsessed with the guy from my area...haha...but yea...he's really good

  • i just saw Les Miz and my friend was a boy and he played Gavroche. he was amazing. He was Gavroche in a proffesional show though not a highschool show. like they had the actual JonVealJon who played it on broadway in the show. same with Gavroche's dad whatever his name was. I think it starts with a T. anywho...I LOVE YOU Gavroche! (it was the play done by Merry-Go-Round for any peeps in Central New YOrk)

  • I played Tiny Tim and I'm a Girl.... And yea, its a real hard section to sing!

  • i was in oliver and i was dodger who is a boy.

  • this is very very good for a high school. was gavroche played by a girl or a boy? -- not trying to offend anyone when i say that. im trying out for this show at a school next year and im a girl, and i really wanna play gavroche hahah

  • I've done the show 3 times, and 2 out of 3, Gavroche was a girl. :]

  • haha yeah i was in it when i was little and i played young cosette, and both gavroche's were high school senior girls

  • Me too ! Well, I was young Cosette the first time I did it. But Gavroche was always 9 or 10 whenever I've done it.

  • lol same here

  • This was actually a really good student edition. I'm really impressed by the ensemble and Gavroche, especially.

For the tiny clip of Eponine we saw, she looked good.

Enjolras was a good singer, but he did have some problem with the pitch. I'm starting to think that that's a hard section to sing or something because I see a lot of people having trouble with the pitch around there... Everything else was great though! Good job!

  • our school spent over $25000 on the play too

  • Who the hell cares????????????

  • was it good?

  • my high school did les mis last year. This one was good, but i feel obliged to say that our school's performance was phenomenal. We had an absolutely amazing director and a wonderful cast. Ours was the best showing of any musical that I have ever seen ever, bar none. the kids were very well disciplined and did an amazing job. it was much better than this, although this one is very good. i am just saying that as a comparison.

  • gavroche is really really good in this it must have taken them ages to practise this. its really good.

  • we're doing kes mis for our spring musical this year...it's my first musical so i'm a lil nervous n seeing this makes me even more...

  • my school is doing Les Mis for our spring musical this year! it's my first one too. i'm the poor, young Eponine, a Thenardier gang member, and a Beggar. i'm nervous, but excited cause i think this is going to be really fun to do and i hope to get more connected at my school cause i'm just a freshman. i'm an understudy for young Cosette too! they gave that part to an older girl who is in charisma. but this is such a cool musical

  • Gavroche was really good. Hmmm a blonde Eponine. That's a LiL bit different.

  • My high school is doing Les Mis this year, our Eponine is blonde. We got a very talented 6th grader to play Gavroche. I'm just a lowly beggar most of the show, and a convict in the prologue.

  • Can't say much for the singing, exactly. But, the Gavroche was better than usual, for a High School Production. And the set design and lighting looks absolutely fantastic; like a professional production, really. I just hope that they didn't forget the voice training, while building the pretty set.

  • the American accent is a bit strange- I'm used to the London recording

  • same here

  • really good... that gavroche is amazing.. haha it sounds strange with the american accents though..

  • Yeah, that Gavroche is truly incredible! I find it staggering that a High School can put together a performance and a set like that when schools in my area have trouble finding the money to keep their doors open! Wow.

  • This Gavroche is amazing! He is as good as anyone on the Westend or Broadway!

  • This is the best high school version of this scene on YouTube. Gavroche was especially good!

  • Seriously who is the kid playing Gavroche? He is freaking amazing!

  • One of the Best Gavroches I have ever heard!

  • That's weird. In your play,Eponine and Gavroche fight.

In ours, all the gang members pushed Gavroche and Eponine gave him a hug.

  • i don't think they ever fought in the real broadway. did they?

  • The whole Gavroche/Eponine thing was cute, but they kind of over-did it . . . our Eponine does some stuff like that, but not as much as this one . . . I play Marius so I guess I'm just extra picky, but I didn't like your Marius or Enjorlas, your Enjorlas is better than ours, but I still don't like him that much . . .

  • Enjorlas is the one who put this vid

  • I hope that guy playin Gavroche knows he has a talent and has to go somewhere with it. I thought the realtionship between Gavroche and Eponine was so cute!

  • sibling love....

  • Also thanks for following my stage philosophy: Stage dirt is NOT a bad thing.

  • fantastic!

  • Rbfanatic. Broadway is not as easy to get on as you think it is. And Joesph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat never made it to Broadway. And Phantom good luck it takes alot to get that role only with year of vocal/opera training good anyone pklay that role

  • this is one of your bdeetter scence

  • i reeeeeeealllly like how the stage moved! thats amazing but the gavroche. eh, not so good. i was gavroche around a year ago. and i guess he was ok but. i liked the smoke. haha

  • I almost got the part of gavroche (as a girl) because they couldnt find a guy for it, but then the directors's nephew stepped in.

  • a bit too much smoke - I'm a Lighting Design expert who's just finished lighting a production of Le Mis...smoke is always nice - but if there's too much it becomes distracting. Interesting also that no Cyclorama lighting is used.

  • It bugs me that Gavroche is Eponine's brother but they never mention it. The Thenadiers abadoned Gavroche so that explains why he's an urchin with not family.

  • uh....sorry?

  • Yeah, I know, but it's not really neccasary, and it would just slow down the show. The plot of Les Mis is messy enough as it is. It's just something interesting for fans of the book to know.

  • Eponine did admit in the book that her brother was Gavroche so I think they could have squeezed something in a little fall of rain or something

  • gavroche is very good!

  • I did like this video but for future refrence, don't choreagraph so much for Gavroche's part cuz it looks a little mechanical but other than that amazing and call me when you're on broadway.

  • Come and see me on Broadway someday! I dream of beeing in Phantom of the Opera,Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Miss Saigon and Les Miserables!

I hope I get to be in this play someday as Enjorlas,Javert,Thenardier, Marius or Jean Valjean. Those parts are the roles I hope to play someday!

  • I did play Javert once for my acting class. I didn't like it at first cuz I'm a girl but it's lots of fun.

  • That's cool.

  • I know that playing Javert is lots of fun. I play Javert when I perform this musical in my room using my original Broadway cast recording.I also play Jean Valjean,Enjorlas,Thenardier, and Marius. Instead of making the scenes out of old trashy stuff,I drew the scenes on paper and taped them up on my wall and that's how the scenes change for my production of Les Miserables. I also drew the logo.

  • Out of all of the videos THIS is my favorite! THIS is alot has really good acting! I LoVe it!

  • well done all absolutly fantastic

  • Because of that the whole of Thenardier's gang started attacking me.

  • I loved it when i did it. I joined in for the hell of it on the last performance and i was the only one to crawl around the stage begging minus the use of one leg.

  • Wow...amazing...

  • this is awesome!

  • This is the best I've ever heard a Gavroche sing! He's great! How old is he?

  • How old is that Gavroche?

    I love him :]

  • Gavorche is such an awesome character because he is such a wonderful person who enjoys running the streets of Paris although he is a beggar, he still a fun and awesome character I can relate to whenever I play Gavroche with the concert soundtrack.

  • its not gavorche

    its javert

  • no...she's talking about gavroche

  • When I was a little kid, I used my mom's Les Miserables CD of the original London cast recording, and I used to play Gavroche! I LOVE Gacvroche, he's so cute!

  • I love Gavroche too!! OMG!!! He's one of the best in my opinion I cry every time I hear the 2nd battle song.

  • I almost cried when he died I saw the profecinal production for my birthday my mom got tickets for my 12th birthday it was a BIG suprise because I didn't know about it until my mom brought me to the theatre and I saw the title "Les Miserables" on the marquee and on the holographic screen! That was my first live Les Miserables experience! I love Les Miserables it's one of my favorite musicals ever!

  • not-professional-actor ;-)

  • I've seen LesMis on stage in Duisburg (Germany) and London - and I'm bound to say, this Gavroche is very good due to the fact hat he's a layman.

  • layman?

  • Well i thought that Gavroche was amazing :-O!! Wow!! he was so enthusiastic and just as good as the one in the West End production.. Heck i think he might have even been better!! Well done your show was amazing!

  • you've got some really low expectations then.

  • why are you still here? nobody likes you. go away.

  • Holy crap, you guys have an amazing set and costumes, be thankful your school can afford stuff like this. You guys are great:)

  • is gavouche a played by a chick xD, whoever it is she/he is good. ur set rocks though, check our performance out too.

  • gavroche is suppsed to be a BOY, not a freshmen. hes MEANT to have a smaller, higher pitched voice, not something as strong as the one in this. and WAY TOO MUCH FOG. if you have ever seen it on broadway or the concert performance, they use a small amount of haze, never that much fog

  • gavroche was a boy in middle school you idiot, and i don't get what you mean by the "higher pitched voice" thing because he was singing the notes and those are pretty high. and the fact that you're only really valid criticism is that he had too strong a voice proves he was really good, or a lot damn better than you could ever do

  • Our gavroche was about a thousand times better. He went on to the national tour after we closed at our school. a stronger voice doesnt mean a better voice. a stronger voice can fake being good and cover up for the lack of training.gavroche has pitch and intonation problems, and marius is tone deaf. your set is a bad copy of the broadway set. your orchestra is better than ours. just because your school did Les Miz doesnt mean it was good, or in any way true to the broadway version.

  • frankly, i don't really care about YOUR gavroche. and i suggest you read your comment over again because it doesn't make any sense. a stronger voice can fake being good? And seriously, who do you think you are? This is a SCHOOL production, and in no way NEEDS to be true to the broadway version, so just give it a rest, nobody asked you what you thought anyway

  • i agree w/ jonnyeeds, who the hell do u think u are? u sound like 1 of those heartless critics who doesnt give a damn about other people, but just likes to diss them to make urself seem superior. well u kno what?, FUCK U!

btw, thats fine that ur gavroche made it that far but u dont thave to rub it in other peoples faces! this kid was amazing!, he was very enthusiastic about his part. his singing could've been a bit better but his acting was superb. id like to see ur gavroche do better! >= P

  • holy cow, you are just plain rude

  • the kid that plays gavroche is like amazing, i saw les mis two days ago on broadway, this kid makes the broadway gavroche seem like nothing

  • Go Beggars!!!! I was a beggar in my school's. share the love.

  • gavroche is well good i like the stage layout aswell im doing les mis in february playing marius cant wait

  • lucky! I love theater, but sadly cant participate. not enough time. :( oh well, yes this is very good!

  • still wayyy too many people on stage. other than that, your gavroche is great!

  • just shows how many beggars there were then.

  • Is this an acting high school? Because generally, it seems unlikely that at any public school you'd get the kind of funding to create such an amazing barricade and costumes, and well as find kids who cand sing AND act.

  • The cool thing is that the place this was performed, the clark center, allows the high schools to perform shows there for free, with all of the amazing lights etc.+ theres just a hell of a lot of people who are behind making the shows happen. thanks for the compliments too, much appreciated!

  • well nipomo actually isn't a performing arts high school, this show had 2 high schools (nipomo and AG) plus enjolras and valjean coming from a little further away. 90% of the people in the show go to nipomo though.

  • This is definetly the best school performance i've seen on youtube (goes for all the songs from this production you've put up-i'm too lazy to comment them all)

  • Gavroche was pretty dang good, Enjolras and Marius were ok, Enjorlas was a bit weak though for the character he plays, and the cast was ok, i guess I have to say, yeah it was a high school production XD voices still developing and stuff they still sounded real young to do this, though granted, Les Mis is no easy task so props for effort, but it may have been a little much for really any high schoolers just cause of need for strong deep voices esp for the men

  • Sorry if this sounds rude, but I just need to know- what gender is your Gavroche? I couldn't tell from the voice. =) Sorry if it sounded rude, but I didn't mean it to be.

Awesome, especially for a Highschool performance!!

  • Our Gavroche was a boy, and yes trust me I know how its easy to get that a bit muddled when he sings like that.

  • ^^ Thanks! I thought so...I just had to make sure. Gavroche is always hard to figure out. ;)

  • Awww it cuts off at my favorite part of the song! Can you please post that part up?

But this was great...the Gavroche was fantastic, and the set was amazing! I'd love to see more of this production.

  • Well, as a whole the cast was amazing...I wish I could have heard Eponine...she seems like a good actor....Gavroche was good too, I was impressed

  • well staged, i love the turntable. Enjolras and marius need to watch pitches on high notes, sounds like you're fighting your high notes. only comment about gavroche....english accent, it's part of the character of the thenardiers

  • enjolras and mariut need to work on their pitch. top notes seemed week, like they were switching into head voice. gavroche was awesome, and i love your staging, keep it up

  • whooo...i'm proud to be a NHS drama student! lol

i wish i could have seen Les Miserables!

  • You have got to post one day more.

I really would like to see it.

  • i love that kid who played gavroche

  • Oh my god, amazing! I love the Eponine/Gavroche playing part, like they really are brother and sister like in the book.

  • very good....oved gavroche!
