  • I love Slade! They were the quintessential rock band. Even as they re-invented themselves for the times, they were still awesome!

I could watch them over and over again! The way they looked, their style, their facial expressions, they way they moved, their costumes, their lyrics, their music, their charisma, their personality (I could go on and on!) ... I am both fascinated and mesmerized. One of the best bands, EVER!

    Thanks for posting!

  • When Dave and Jim sing backup on this, what are they saying? And are they saying the same thing each time? I cant figure it out!

  • GLAM Forever!!

  • One of their best songs.....!!

  • Thanks for memories of Slade !!!

  • One of the best!

  • Thanks Noddy,James,Dave and Don for give us all these marvelous years with the best music in the golden age of pop.Glam rock never die¡

  • Noddy's voice was phenomenal!!!

  • lubie to

  • when I was a kid I had the choice between Sweet, Slade and the Fake Shitty Rollers, I had no problem,-Noddy was and is my hero!!!!! ...well until Slade hit America and went all Bon Jovi

  • dat bass

  • What a musician Jimmy Lea is and was for that matter! He said he was heavily influenced musically by Paul McCartney,The Eagles and Led Zeppelin once upon a time..It's easy to see the wonderful way he uses his classical training to construct such melodic bass lines..sometimes they stand up as tunes within tunes on their own..I always respected Lea for his musicianship and the fact he kept to true to his great ability. A truely great player..Great posting!

  • I bet Robert Plant paid Noddy to stand in for him when his throat was too sore to front Zep.Who's with me?

  • @shaktijaa Yep!

  • This Band was Nobodys Fools kor

  • dass dieses stück so ein funky keybord hatte wusste ich gar nicht mehr.

diese gruppe werde ich immer mögen.

  • Wechingen rockt!

    Classic Rock night:

    Slade, Sweet und Flash Live!

Am 16.7.2011 in Wechingen in Bayern.

  • This band put on a fantastic show.....seen 'em twice and they kicked ass both times

  • Ich habe diese Band immer geliebt.

Daran hat sich auch nach fast 40 Jahren nix geändert.

    Thanks for the Memory

  • BOSTIN!

  • you always get the feling that if they hadnt ov gone down the glam side of things they would of been still going today.

but hey thanks for my teenage years!

  • WHAM BAM THANK YOU SLADE ! nuff sed

  • I like the whispering part, it's creepy

  • Yeah I agree, Noddy is bitter- even in the UK they are only remembered for their Xmas tune. All their great music is sadly forgotten and any reunion tour would be a flop compared to Zep or The Who. Noddy aint a fool.

  • @orange8129 I don t think a reunion would be a such failure. The Who, Led Zep, all great, but Slade for me stands out in progression, sheer versatility in styles and in making REAL pop/rock tunes. etc. one of the truly greatest bands in the world ever. So mispercepted and underrated. They should have outsold Zep, Who, Purps etc.

  • @carlphone Your quite right there mate

  • i remember this at the time thinking it aint up to par with what had gone before..it was a funny time 75-76, all the glamsters were finding it hard in the bay city roller/disco times..

  • I hear SO MUCH Led Zep, AC/DC and The Who in this

....and the guitar players silver bow-tie reminds me of

a young Randy Rhodes earlier red polka dot costumes with Quiet Riot.

Almost, seems like Slade was the center of the rock universe for about 3 years.

I wonder if Noddy is bitter that he hasn't gotten the same american-fame treatment as Daltry and Plant.

  • Don is slightly underestimated; you always recognize his powerful heavy drumming which is a big contribution to the typical Slade sound. Awesome song by the way.

  • Их артистичности и профессионализму я думаю завидуют многие исполнители.Спасибо им за их музыку,которая воодушевляет и придает настроения.

  • yes tnx..

  • I discovered this band by accident on youtube and I'm glad I did.

  • @ccfan62...Well, you did exactly the right discovery, congratulations!

    Check their other songs too!

  • @ccfan62

I Can't believe this , they were aweesom; listen to play it loud and old new borrowed and blue , the best live band ever

  • What a song, what a band!!!!!!!!!

    if someone don't understand it.....so, it's his/hers problem..

  • @IDIOOTTI62 teddingtontcu has a major problem he has no ear for good musicand cant understand why so many music lovers like us like slade he is just a total looser prick

  • ...They said bananas could get u high!...

  • just love this group noddys voice is awsomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee they were great live band to

  • @teddingtontcu Whats with this guy must be a total nutter he spends his time listening to music he does't like just so that he can trash it? Reminds me of a good Jeffro Tull hit "Thick as a Brick" but then thats probably to out of his league as well.

  • @walaldhec snot running down his nose........greasy fingers wearing shabby clothes walaldhec. Or do you go down to the park to (WARM YOUR FEET)

    AQUALUNG

  • yeah ,, these guys knew how to rock,,the best live band in the universe,,period,,,musical one offs,,,no doubt,,so gifted it makes you want to cry,,,slade,,,,no contest

  • @robharding1957

I no wot u mean, but there were (and R!) so-o-o-o many who really knew how 2 rock as well!.. Pistols or Damned, e.g.

  • @Hollandia777 nice try,,you may be right about the live shows by the bands you mention,,but are you seriously saying slade were on that same level?,, slade were out on their own when it comes to musical mastery,,both in the songwriting stakes as well as the raw rock package,,,they had the whole package,,as a rock band anywhere on the planet, cheers punkster,,no hard feelings,,

  • @robharding1957

Well...Let's don't start a generation conflict, OK? My dad was a big fan of them, so I was somehow acquainted (and infected!) with this shit. "Slade effect" is a perfect combination of (first of all!) unique Holder vocal, band outfit and fuckin' cool rhythm they produced and british mainstream in the 70's.

P.S. Rob Harding sounds pretty dutch. (No kidding!) Any connection? xD

  • @Hollandia777 hi there ,,no l couldnt be more english, born in the smoke,,london,in 57,but when l first heard slade,,,it was immediate,,hit me for six in 71 and im still listening, 39 years later,,great band,,,

  • @robharding1957

Yeah, those were fuckin' great times of the top 20! xDD

  • @Hollandia777 they certainly were my friend keep on rockin,to the greatest rockers of all,,rob h,

  • @robharding1957

    True!

Merry Christmas! P.S. Are u hungin' up a stocking on a wall? It's a time that every Santa has a ball, u no... xDD

  • Once again we have nine people giving us Slade fans the red hand, and once again I will say.......... FUCK OFF and go and listen to CRAP FACTOR!!!

  • Can't beat the 70's.

  • Fucking awesome group :-)

  • Teddingt the TROLL thanks for the memories if you enter the twilight zone and leave us hahaha

  • Interesting use of keys. . .Jim's at it again!

  • This is a tranny dalmation..............all bets are off!

  • @teddingtontcu the only bet thats winning is that your the runt of the litter

  • One troll, Mr. "teddingtonctu"

  • Sorrry 102 dalmations and a 'tranny'

  • @teddingtontcu tranny my bum and did u not know dalmations are black and white

  • 102 dalmatiions.

  • Loving Daves fringe

  • PRIDE OF WALSALL AND THE BLACK COUNTRY - IMAGINE THIS ON THAT S*IT X FACTOR !!!!

  • @summersavannah01 I can picture it now! They'd all be blown away!

  • BLOODY BRILLIANT....

  • I love that Flying V bass guitar at 0:37.

  • Once I see them, I cannot forget :)

  • Great band in the 70"s or eighties i grow up listen this kind of musi

  • Love it! you could NEVER mistake Noddy's voice for anyone else, could you? :)

  • i want his suit lol

  • & The song title back to the fab slade....!

  • Slade were never underated, to all genuine Slade fans and to themselves we all knew they were good. I was driving up to LA fom San Diego and back and Slade is played on the airwaves, they hit the US bigtime and they're a fine down to earth English band.

  • I see that for TV they had to change "Have a love smell on your sheet" to "Have some honey with your meat" Shame, it's a good line

  • wam bam thank u mam! eat a fucking apple - let remember the 70' and live on!

  • Have been a SLADE fan since 72' and still am, I still listen to my SLADE music, keeps me going. True, they were underatted, just a good time band. No politics, just good rock and roll........I love U guys!!

  • you will never beat these 'live'......superb & not 'up themselves!' they enjoyed performing & it was great to watch them. please gwet back together lads.....just for a couple!

  • I notice in some of their videos they switch instruments. I am sure they are all very talented and could do this, but were they known to switch from bass to guitar, keyboards, drums etc? I am new to Slade and will see them live in Emmendingen Germany in July. I wonder if they are still this awesome.

  • there most under rated song to many ,,but there most awsome to my ,,,wham bam thank you mam,,beat that you rapper nonsence fuckers

  • No singer ever had the knife edge sandpaper voice that Noddy did. It could cut like a razor through any mix, and you immediately knew just who it was.

  • Anybody know who made Dave Hill's guitar? looks like a Gibson 345 neck, a strat pickup etc. is it a Birch?

  • That Outfit is Loud but this group sounds so good SLADE rox

  • he reminds me of robert plant

  • Great getar tone. Hot for the day John Birch pickups. So PhaT!!!

  • Is there a band in history who has had as much fun on stage as Slade clearly do? I have always loved these guys.

  • Queen?

  • Not Queen for sure, May and Deacon just stood there in t-shirts looking bored.

  • yea ur right. freddie and roger were always having the most fun on stage.

  • Big Slade fan, but Quo are good fun too.

  • @geowyn Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show comes to mind.

  • wam bam thank ya man

  • Shame it has been encoded too loud. The sound is distorting! I love this song. Can someone do it with better sound?

  • slade thanks for the memories most of all thanks for all the great music

  • The Mutts Nuts!! This band had everything. The very best of their time. To Slade and Youtube, as they say, THANKS FOR THESE MEMORIES. Brilliant stuff!!

  • It's people like this that make me proud to be from Black Country xD

  • meist allererstes Concert in Wiesbaden Jahrhunderthalle 1973 "Slade in Concert.

Meine freunde übrigens hassten alle "slade" und hörten Deep Purple was zu entlosen debatten führte :))

  • My first and favourite band. The b sides were always good!

  • HA NODDIE´s mimic is best...

  • exelente!

  • The b-side of this record was much better Raining In My Champagne.

Noddy rules - KEEP ON ROCKIN' !!

  • complete nonsense lyrics but a wonderful arrangement with keys and the PG lyrics too not the " love stain on your sheet" version!!

  • actually it's "have a love-smell on your sheet"

  • thanks for the memory? where have I heard that before? hmm

  • fall out boy has a song by the same name that's spelled differently.

  • Thanks for the memory as they say

  • Noddy still gets a huge royalty cheque (check in USA-ese) every June/July for Merry Xmas everybody!!!

  • I'm glad MXE is still bringing in royalties.... it's still the one of the first songs you'll hear at Christmastime after, what, 35 years - it says everything. Chances are, you'll hear slade before you'll hear Queen or Mud or even Elvis. If I hear it every year from now until I draw my last breath, that'll do me.

  • i listened to cum on feel the noise by quiet riot and i saw slade sitting off to the side and i though what the hell i will listen to them. Best decision of the year thus far. Great energy, great sound, all around great band.

  • Can you imagine the great 70's rock band Led Zepplin playing a song as tight as this with so much joy and abandon? I didn't think so. Jim Lea's composing/playing has always been under-rated and then there's always Noddy's voice. Thanks for the memory.

  • good question. if you look at my favourites you will see i love both bands. they are pure class.the point i think you are missing is that they were the masters of there own trade. you cant really compare them in that way. zep were by far the better musicians individually.but the nature of slades records made them sound tighter and they hit the music scene with there brand at exactly the right time. peace to you my brother.

  • Thanks for your response Naz and I agree with you 100%. I'm from the States and as you know Slade got absolutely no respect here, which is the real shame. They were too 'heavy' for our AM pop stations at the time and too much fun for the 'serious' FM stations. Our loss.

  • Hi,

I think, maybe, that I´m the only fan of both groups in these days in germany, but Ihope, there wil be some more. I don´t know, but I will like the music of slade forever...

    greetings - H.

  • Slade er det bedste musik fra 70'erne!:D

    Total svedigt!:b

  • Queen er ellers også rigtig gode, men Slade er også fede

  • Noddy´s voice is amazing.

  • Great song!So many good memories.Reminds me my first Love, Flo.Thanks for posting it.

  • these guys were hugely big in the 70's..... I was a teen in the 70's - in England - and LOVED THEM !

  • What sort of dialect is "cuma westas" from?

  • Wow, thanks. I wasn't expecting them to speak use Spanish in a song.

  • Am I the only one comparing Noddy Holder's voice with Rober Plant? :P

  • I know what you mean. Do you know they are both from around the Wolverhampton England area. I wonder if they are very distantly related.

  • I wonder too :) Thx for the answer :P

  • thougt Holder were from Birmingham...saw something about that on the towns walk of fame (Noddy and Ozzy!)

  • Wolverhampton. :)

  • They are so underated

  • And to think I thought that were just an obscure 80's band...some of there music I'm liking now since I rediscovered them.

  • 70s band more like.

  • Don't you believe that all us Slade fans; know that they're more than merry x fans and Slade never got on that ego trip. they wre a people's band like us lot.

My favorite album Play it Loud..............

  • @PudgeRamone only in USA,outside the states they where one of the biggest selling bands at the time,in fact when Gene Simminos formed Kiss he wanted it to be the US Slade.US metal bands always had a nod to Slade look at Quiet Riot.

  • I first saw them on Don Kirsher's Rock Concert about '73 or '74. Dave Hill entered down some long stairs and had that weird bang haircut and a tiara or something on his head. Pretty wild even then.

  • Dave Hill did great here and Jim Lea showed his versatility, Noddy, cheeky yet tongue in cheek and Don Powell is the timeless drummer. Listened to Sladest a lot as a teen (SLAYED too) and SLADE IN FLAME. Never saw them live and only in the past year on video!

  • They were THE band of the 70's.

  • am only 10 and i love slade!

  • 14!!!! They do rock though. God i love slade. Everybody thinks i'm a freak but meh.

  • I had that when i was in yr 4 and liked em, truly great tunes, why shouldnt I. Stay ur own person girl, it pays off in the end !

  • :D Don't worry, I am.

  • What a tragically underrated band. Dave Hill has some nice hair.

  • Slade forever¡¡¡¡

  • They were just great. They were a band.

They could do it all. They could sing and

shout (noddy), They could play like no

other (jimmy) , They could tease the audiense

(dave) and they could play the little drum

like no other at that time (don).

They were just a band - but a good one and

they want the audience to feel the same.

    They were a band.

  • what ever happened to slade? did they break up? i loved them in the 70's and still do!!!

  • Ye, his voice is great!

  • Great song of a great Time! It's good to hear and see Slade here today again...!Thanks for the Memory, kkkkkklf!Greatings from Germany!

  • Noddy Holder´s voice is amazing. One of the best rock singers ever. Excellent band, great songs.

  • great song great band from back in theday what great memeories this song brings back great tobe a teen then lol

  • Whew!

    ...

Just listen to the beginning! And follow the little details all thru the song - it's incredible what they put in there. This song would be amazing even without anybody singing. And then the text: "... have some butter with your fly!" That's fine art. Period.

  • To:CharlyGreyWolf

It's true, no one in Canada even heard of Slade until Run Runaway & My Oh My! What a shame we had to wait so long to hear their music!

  • Yeah, boys, thanks for the memory! After all this time, it's still awesome to listen to Slade on YouTube!!! I was crazee about them back in the day, and still have a soft spot for them! Good to hear these old songs again.

  • To: b2112hp

    Yes,it was in 1973 & J.Giels

was one of the bands on this nite.

Opening band "Backdoor was a sleeper"

though they were good..they were just

to jazz type a band for this concert &

to boot they played most of thier set

    on chairs.
