Great tutorial. When you buy a mobile repar kit these days you usually get a couple of plastic 'blades' which can be used to ease off the casing and inner screen, to prevent the chance of cutting yourself. ;¬)
How would you replace the camera lens on the faceplate? does it pull off just like the top lens that is in the video? Would you be able to describe briefly how it could be done? Thank you! :)
Nicely done! I wish I'd found this video _before_ I bought a replacement Razr on eBay! Still though, I then went and bought a new glass piece and followed these instructions. Piece-o-cake, really. Now I have a new glass piece installed on my old phone and a "spare" Razr just in case. Nice bit of repair demonstration! Thanks for uploading it!
great video, thanks for putting it up. But there's no reason to take it to bits, just get a sharp edged blade and prise out the glass, starting with where it's broken. Comes out easy. Then clean up the exposed area of old glue before sticking in the replacement glass. Simples. One word of warning, be very careful not to damage the orange ribbon connectors on the left hand side of the glass.
The way you change the lense. is very harfull for finger and nails. the smashed glass could cut your finger skin.. better if you use a non sharped cutter the small blade could take the glass in one piece in a better way.
there was a small piece of paper on my replacement glass on the inside, presumably to keep adhesive off of the clear part. it stayed in place and i didn't catch it until the phone was reassembled. the one in the video did not have this. do yourself a favor and double check.
after assembly i noticed that my camera lens had shifted. it still works fine but the red inside lens is clearly not centered on the exterior protective lens.
Interesting video but why take the phone apart? a small craft knife or stanley knife gently slid around the edge of the old screen lifting as you go will easily prise the old screen out.Just make sure that the knife blade is kept away from the ribbon cable lurking under the the edge of the lense. Gently remove the old sticky left behind and pop in the new lense.
thanx this video is going to help so much as i sat on my phone and the whole screen shattered. i found a shop on ebay selling both replacement screen glass and camera glass for £2.99
Actually.. My little sister bought the screwdriver set from ebay to repair her razr and it was only $4 for like a 20 piece set. And the razr's look hard to work on.. but she can build a phone in little time.
great ... do it even faster, so that nobody can follow you...and who the hell has those screwdrivers at home...isnt there an alternate tool to loosen those screws?
then go to your provider and let them jack you up for a new phone. those screwdrivers are prolly $20 for a set. not to mention this is meant for people who like to repair shit.
people who've never done this before don't want to see it done fast - they want to see it done slowly (and correctly) so they can follow it. and the quality of the camera
a) is way better than the cameras used to make a lot of youtube videos and
b) doesn't matter for this video. there's no fine detail you need to see.
Sweet deal! Your video helped me replace my screen, although I did mine *slightly* differently. What I did was leave the entire phone intact, and just took a thin metal edge (knife) and pryed the screen off, being careful not to damage the metal casing or scratch the LCD underneath.
The new screen had some extra overhang on the sticky material, so I used it to remove all the leftover glue. Then a can of duster-air took care of any dust.
I've only got a T6 screwdriver. Is that going to be small enough? i don't want to destroy the screw.
That and I saw some suction cup screen removal thing on ebay. In theory it would just grab onto the screen and pull it off without having to remove the face plate. anyone know if that would actually work?
Great video! My only question is that after following all the steps and getting the new cover installed, the 3 silver side buttons no longer work, although they worked before I did this. I've now taken apart the cover 3 times but, no matter what I do, I can't get them to work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? All the keypad buttons work. It's just the three silver side buttons. Many thanks for any help you can send my way!
Hi i need some information regarding motorola razr v3i when u play the mp3 songs do u have to put on the earphone or u can listen through the speakers

i need hepl with my phone. its a motorola v3, the original one, and the camera does not work :( whenever i try 2 use it the screen goes blank and the phone freezes. then the oly thing to do and to make it functional again is to pop the bettery out and put it back in. Then of course turn it back on. Any ideas how i might be able 2 fix this???
hi there, sorry for the hassle but i'm wondering if you could help me. I've had a v3i razor for about 2 years and recently its been freezing, turning itself off, the screens been white when i've opened the phone and i've had to close it and open it again for the normal menu to appear, have u any ideas as to what the problem could be and how I could fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thannk you very-very much for this!
I did not unscrew though, just pried it out with a needle - worked perfect!

Great job!!! One thing I found useful was to put a piece of tape over the broken lens, to keep it together and from small pieces falling aobut.
