Not exactly. Not to be picky, but Bangladeshis speak Bengali in a different accent than Indian ones. Also, culturally the same? I'm not too sure about that. The religion difference forwards to cultural difference.
Just to clarify for other readers of your comment, the accents are often so strongly different, that people from one place can't understand people from the other. I know I can't understand people who who speak Sylheti Bengali because my Dad's side is from Dhaka and my Mom's side is from Khulna. So we speak pretty standard Bengali.
And yes, because religion usually dictates one's way of life, especially in Islam, religion definitely plays a role in cultural differences.

Just to clarify for other readers of your comment, the accents are often so strongly different, that people from one place can't understand people from the other. I know I can't understand people who who speak Sylheti Bengali because my Dad's side is from Dhaka and my Mom's side is from Khulna. So we speak pretty standard Bengali.
And yes, because religion usually dictates one's way of life, especially in Islam, religion definitely plays a role in cultural differences.

Um... wrong. "Bangali" and "Bengali" are the same thing. "Bangali" is the proper way to say it and "Bengali" is the Anglocized way that British spelled it as. Moreover, Bangladesh IS part of Bengal. The state in India is West Bengal and the part that separated is East Bengal, now Bangladesh the country.

Not that it's a wrong statement but a more correct atatement would be that both bengali and Urdu belong to the Indo-Aryan branch of languages like other North Indian languges belong to but Urdy has a lot of Arabic words unlike Begali.
