  • god bless James Connolly, from a Scotsman, if he never done what he did for Scotland, then the only other country i give acceptions for is Ireland. although i have 'rfc' in my name im not a unionist. im a nationalist and i hope to see a scottish republic. learned alot about irish history, from pearse n connolly, to mick collins. i support a united ireland also

  • If you cant see the Irish struggle is a workers struggle then you know nothing about the cause.

  • @martinshorelinealarm It was a side benefit.

  • Thanks for a great video. My grandad (ICA 1913-1923) fought with Connolly and was among a small group sent by him to hoist the Starry Plough over the ImperialHotel that was then opposite the G.P.O.

  • Sadly the "non-socialist/commie Cause" became linked with catholic conservativism and Ireland turned into a priest-infested backwater with the poor exploited just as much as they were under the Brits. Connolly was the shining opposite of this tendency because he linked anti-imperialism with social change, backing trade unions (ITGWU in particular) against capitalist corruption and exploitation. His anti-sectarian politics are acknowledged postively on all sides of the Irish poltical spectrum.

  • An awesome song, long live Ireland and her people.

  • whats this song called

Vol. James Connolly Irish Citizen Army 1916

  • Long live the Irish working class.

  • a true son of Ireland

  • The only thing that pissed jim connolly off, against the brits , was that he prefered to walk to the firing Squad..rather than being carried out to the death range..

  • james connolly was my nanas uncle

  • up the ra get out english scum

  • A grand and fitting tribute to an oustanding socialist and class fighter. Thank you CoveyDoire!

The ideas and programme that James Connolly believed in and fought for are as valid today as they were on May 12th 1916 when he was murdered by British Imperialists.

  • A great communist.

  • TrueCommunist some tit has given a minus to your remark. Marxist Connolly, commended by Lenin in 1917. The green nationalists backed by the churches have always hated communism. Equality for all with no ruling elite frightens them. That's why Blaney & Haughey (millionaires)sent weapons to the north and the provo's split. The green nationalists Kelly McKie McStoiffan were horrified by socialism. Now Connolly is dead Irish bourgeois can afford him hero status. He never hid that he was a Marxist.

  • lets never forget james connolly up the r.a.

  • If I was His Dad ide say THATS MY BOYOE!

    & be proud

    Mick Connelly

  • Up the socialist workers republic!

    In Ireland and worldwide!

  • up the greens!

  • The Socialist Republic is for all

  • A great tribute to a great hero! Thank you.

  • James Connolly's mind and heart and hand engaged day after day in planning and agitating to raise the condition of working man and woman. great vid. thanks for posting

  • well done up the I.R.S.P

  • A working class HERO!!!

    viva IRA-INLA

  • James Connolly The Irish Rebel

  • connolly had at most, one week to live from his injuries sustained from the rising,a dying man strapped to a chair and shot by firing squad, another great british blunder, tiocfaidh ar la,keep on keeping on

  • I am not sure that Connelly would have died from his injury. My understandinf is that he would have recovered.

Ofcourse if I was right all the time I would not have so many arguements with my poor wife. ;-0

  • his wounds were to his ankles

  • James Connelly wasn't a volenteer, he did form the ICA nd join the rising of his own free will of course, by that I mean his rank wasn't volenteer. It was commadant

  • Noone who ever graced the gaols or paid the ultimate sacrafice in the long struggle for Irish Freedom, was ever conscripted to fight for that goal. Every man & woman gladly volunteered regardless of the consequences they may have faced and not disregarding rank they fought side by side as equals. James Connolly was a socialist and would never have asked a mere mortal to do something he wasn't prepared to do himself.
