  • i have a q9450 @ 3.5ghz, 4gb ram and and 460gtx and it runs slow

  • can you tell me what your nvidia control panel settings are for this game? for some reason im only getting 20-25 wtih 8gb ddr, core 2 quad and a 9800gx2

  • its all because of quad core , any cpu that has 4 cores will run this game great even ir gpu is shit , i have very good gpu but my cpu is dual core overclocked to 4.2 ghz and i cant max out.

  • @JackRyson wtf? why i am console's boy ? i have an jasper xbox, and pc with asus radeon 4850 1gb 256bit.

  • lol you don t see any different between high and very high

  • Benchmark doesn't mean diddly.

  • The benchmark tells me it runs on 35 fps, on med settings. Ingame however I get 15-18 fps...

  • nice vid

  • 280 sli Manufacturer: nVidia Series: GeForce GTX 200 GPU: GT200 Release Date: 2008-06-16 Interface: PCI-E 2.0 x16 Core Clock: 602 MHz Shader Clock: 1296 MHz Memory Clock: 1107 MHz (2214 DDR) Memory Bandwidth: 283.4 GB/sec FLOPS: 622.08 GFLOPS Pixel Fill Rate: 38528 MPixels/sec Texture Fill Rate: 96320 MTexels/sec
  • maxishine video

  • i see this video before! not yours -.-

  • The reason youve seen it before, is for that is the video strain test I believe.

  • yeah should be possible

  • can i play gta iv in max out??

    my spec : e7500 , gts250 , 2gb ram

  • With 2gb ram i don't think so. GPU is okay, procesor hm, i don't think so. Maybe 15-20fps with max.

  • lol no!

  • Comment removed

  • @MarkQP

    wrong.. i play 60fps with core 2 duo 4.16Ghz :) gtx460 and 4gb ram

  • @MithrasNL

i made that comment 1 year ago

  • I have an athlon II x2 245 overclocked to 3.77Ghz

    4GB Ram

    PNY geforce 9800GT EE

and the game runs fine. According to rockstar Medium settings and 22+ View distance, 10+ Detail distance, and 25+ vehicle density is already beyond what the console versions are capable of, and anything else is just futurproofing so later on down the line people with better PCs can run at higher settings. you also have to keep in mind that this game was designed with a 30FPS mark for consoles. My PC runs it fine.

  • It seems like a ton of people are having problems with this game. I have a 4890 GFX card, 2.6 quad core, and 3 gigs of ram and the game looks like complete shit.

  • Not worth paying all that money to play this game like that. It devours the resources of your computer, that is ridiculous for a game that looks kind of bad.

  • Benchmark is a peice of piss to run.

  • cut 25 frames off the result and you have your in game fps, but really anything over 25 is playable

  • It's because in the benchmark, you're in an open area with minimal objects on-screen, while in game, there might be a dozen or two cars, that are all being rendered and shaded, and have shadows and are being antialiased, along with explosions and humans all moving around.

  • This bench is totalz SHIT! I have HD4850 in benchmark i got 59 AVG FPS ,in game 30 fps...just bulltshit

  • i think pc is better, 4 2 reasons...independence fm and u can choose ur setts, i think it's important and btw it's better with a mouse and a keyboard...

  • the best is the modding...tho

  • and the better view distance. on the xbox its only around 21

  • Yeah, It's just the same as when San Andreas came to pc, everything was better!

  • LOL. Some people can play like a pro on the gamepad, it doesn't matter what are you using, mouse-keyboard or a gamepad. Settigs only matter on the PC, cus on the consoles, settings are using all of the console power, so it doesn't lag like a bitch.

  • i don't say that there are no "pro" players, i just say that using a mouse-keyboard is easyer and better because u have more keys...btw my pc has better resolution than a ps3...

  • btw my pc has better resolution than a ps3...

    No doubt ih has!

But it's easyer to play mouse-keyboard for you! You learned how to play whith them when you first started computer, the same thing with the consoles

  • true...i have nothing to say anymore so...cheers...

  • I'm pretty sure most graphics cards are capable of beating a PS3 now days, lol

  • I am sure too... :p

  • @vhghe

The Graphics adapter that the PS3 uses is comparable with the GeForce 7900 GT 256MB.

  • 7900? very old videocard XD

  • Yep, but that's how it is.

  • it runs crap on pc cus its so badly optimized for the pc

  • haha nice got duel 285's this work great ty 4 the fyi.

  • *drowls/

  • what is better quad sli 9800GX2 or sli 280 GTX???

  • on paper the quad sli 9800gx2 can crunch more numbers, but in reality, most games are not optimised for this.

    take the sli 280 imho

  • great man...i never thought that a 9800gx2 could go that far-did you OC your card perhaps?

  • I think I did for this video yeah

i have clocked it back atm coz of the warm weather and i'm on air

  • what are the clocks and how many degrees do you get while playing?

  • Does it matter what pc you have can I install Nvidia 180.84 forceware when i have nVidia GEorce 6150Le Driver?

  • is the 186.18 nvidia driver better than the 180.84? i think it is newer so ut must be better or not?

  • Haha what the fuck, why dont you record with fraps xD

  • Because FRAPS causes lag when used to record in - game footage -- and that would defeat the point of this video seeing that he/her is proving that GTA 4 runs smoothly on his/her PC...

  • will this work with a Nvidia Geforce gt 220 3d

    please do reply.

    my specs

    intel core 2 quad q8200@2.33ghz

    4 gb ram

    1tb hard drive

    nvidia geforce gt220 3d

    how good will it work.

    oh please do reply

  • can i run this game

    Intel Quad Core Q8300 processor.

    2.5GHz processor speed.

    4MB cache.

4GB DDR2 RAM upgradeable to ??GB.

    500GB SATA2 hard drive capacity.

Multiformat dual layer DVD RW optical drive.

    nVidia GeForce 120GT graphics card.

    1GB dedicated graphics memory.

  • yes

  • at what settings

  • textures on medium and the rest on high, then the view distance you should select according to your gfx capabilities (vram).

  • i dont realy know

  • lol 62 FPS with Vista Very Nice!

  • it does run crappy on a pc if it doesn't have good specs. thats what game consoles are for

  • gtx 295 can go to 66fps (max fps on gta 4)

  • How do I enable anti-aliasing in GTA 4?

I can't find where to enable it and I can't deal with all the jaggies.

  • There is no anti-aliasing in gta4! You can press P for blur and a bit smoother edges!

  • You can force it trough CCC or The Nvidia Control pannel! :)

  • i got a better cpu and gpu and dont get 62 fps in max, only max detail and 1600x1050 and view 35 detail 50 62 fps, i cant believe this must be fake

  • high is not max ! ha ha ha loser

  • @gelvispro high is max u homo..

  • @xp504 haha bo ,troll

  • @gelvispro look 2008 year

  • Comment removed

  • i can play it max on my tri 9800 GTX+

  • Yes it can be maxed out even with 9800GT 1 gb

on corei7 1280x1024 and not droping under 30 fps

True, tested. And i also use old drivers:181.20!!!

  • the graphics cards have little to do with gta iv its the cpu that matters for this game.

  • Having said that though i've run a few tests on my old 7900gt with an amd dual core 4200+ and overclocking it from 450mhz to 540mhz core and from 660 to 792 for the memmory clock I get about 7-8 fps more than I normally do and then it's being bottlenecked my the cpu

  • The fact that you can even run it on a 7900gt proves my point

  • It runs at 6 fps stock clocked and 12 max on overclocked...

  • that is because your cpu is a piece of shit, dude look it up crysis needs a good gfx card and gta needs a good cpu because its so poorly coded

  • The CPU isn't the main problem though. The cpu is being bottlenecked by the gpu at stock and the gpu is being bottlenecked by the cpu when overclocked.

And that's not my current rig anyway...

260 216 core, 780i xfx, q6600 overclocked to 3.2 stable on air 46 degrees under full load

In crysis the gpu is massively bottlenecked my the cpu but were talking about gta iv here

  • errrrr! Wrong! gta uses 2 engines and please look at in-game physx and you will realize you will be happy only with quad core hehe :)

    corei7*9800gt 1gb running on max 30+ fps 1333 RAM

  • your an idiot the reason your getting 30fps is because of your i7

  • GTA4 is not poorly coded, if you say so you don´t know shit. Yes it is portet from console but the physics are so advanced that that takes really much cpu power, graphics are good too so you will need a good cpu and a good graphics card, also at least 3Gb of RAM to handle all the textures etc

  • omg your so fucking stupid one who even knows a little about pc gaming knows the gta is one of the worst coded games in history

  • no it´s not, give me "evidence" of it.

Look at the physics and then tell me another game that has the same or better physics and runs smoother, dumbass

  • just search any overclocking/gaming forum and you will find topics about it.

Simply put for the amount of work gta does it uses to much resources causing it to run slower than say crysis doing the same thing and crysis has much better physics

  • yeah but you can´t compare them, GTA4 is in a fully detailed city with lots of lights, persons walking around and cars driving (physics). Hundreds if not more textures loadning all the time. i´m not saying it´s good optimised but it´s not bad either

  • your clearly a new gamer so ill say it very clearly ok.

It does not load the entire city at once it only loads what it needs.

and when it comes to textures gta uses very basic shit unlike games such as.

Farcry 2, crysis, crysis warhead, stalker clear sky and x3 terran conflict.

  • I know what you said, but you need to understand that coding games is not as easy as you think, and they made a good job porting it. If it were a PC original game you could say the coding sucks, but ITS PORTED

  • mate 95% of new games are ported and they don't have the same problems as gta iv.

  • GTA IV has the worst game engine ever, because Rockstar decided to try and create their own instead of using someone else's. They should have used CryEngine. That would've been great!

  • to an extent most 95% of people wouldn't be able to play it because of the lagg

  • you mother fucker we have OPINIONS!!!!

  • Crysis is BY FAR much better looking, has much more physics involved, unbelievable amount of objects, etc. and it is still much smoother on my pc, GTA 4 was one of the worst ported games I've ever seen

  • haha reading your previous post made me thought you run it about 20 fps and not like this :)

Even athlon 3000+oc and 9500gt ddr2! 2gb ram runs gta 4 10-20 fps on minimum though haha

  • On lowest graphics the min will be at about 11 min using the latest patch

But it's truley terrible when you actually play it =)

  • unless it was 2x4GB.

  • Intel 4 core 2.8Ghz

    8Gb ram

    nvidia graphics 9800

  • Why do you have 8GB of ram again?

  • i don't know, but having alot of ram allows you to run a lot of applications

  • :) Well, open up a free program called CPU RAM meter, and seriously open up everysingle game/application on your PC and tell me if you pass 3GB's :)

It's impossible. Plus owning so much ram slows down the PC, the CPU has to configure and send info through god knows how many sticks of ram you have.

  • no the computer is fast, not slow. it can boot in about 30 secs or maybe even less. plus applications only use a small fraction of the cpu. why? because most of the data of the application is stored onto the ram chips. and yes i ran all the programs on my computer and it got up to 5GB of data. but the cpu you was only running at about 75%. looks like i have a faster computer. :p

  • i find the only real use for it is in large graphics and

    videos :)

youtube videos and effects, the RAM is the best thing there is for video previews and rendering

flightsim if anyone plays it is also much quicker in loading and between menus and scenery

the os does work quicker its a pleasure to use, after a coupla weeks you forget, see someone elses PC and its painful to use

  • Hehe :) I was hoping to get a Q6600,8800GT SLI, 4GB Ram.

Good config to last 2 years?

  • this benchamrk is totaly shit...on my hd4850 it shows i get 53 fps but in i get game 20-40

  • will it run on max settings on

intel core 2 duo q9400 quad core 2,66 ghz

    ram 4gb

    nvidia geforce gt 120 1gb??

  • Medium / High Maybe!

  • GT120 = 9500GT and 8600GT (ddr2 versions)

  • The 9500 is just a renamed 8500 though with a 55nm core instead of the old 65nm

  • 0:30 o_O

  • From my experience with this game on differents computers i can say the only thing that matter is the cpu. With a phemom II 940 @ 3.7ghz the game run perfectly with a crappy 8600GT and on a E8400 @ 3ghz with 2x 9600GT the game ran like dog shit. People should stop to talk about graphic cards whit this game, this is not even a factor (Only if you have a piece of junk like a 7300GT aswell)

  • hehe, belive it or not, I own the 7300SE :D

  • yes,

    i had e8400 3GHz and 8800GTs and runs perfectly

    with 4gb ram ofcourse

  • 0:30 wow

  • yes, but you should spend 400 only in the processor

  • how many VRam 9800 gx 2 you have??

  • google.....

  • y dont u use FRAPS

  • i have ur same processor and 4gb of ddr3 ram, why does the game slow down after 5 minutes of play?(for the first 5 minutes it runs smooth as hell)

  • hey, i have a problem i have ur video card but gta seems to only recognize 480mb of the card?????

  • create a txt file commandline.txt and write -norestrictions and you will be able to max out everything and you should get the latest 1.0.3.0 patch for gta4

  • Very nice man, from what ive gathered though the people who say GTA IV is crap on pc is just jealous of the ones who can run it on max quality, im running mine damn near minimum and i still think the game is awesome.

  • Getting similar results (maybe a little lower FPS) on C2Q 3.5ghz + 9600GT x2 SLI!

  • my i7 920 @3ghz, 3GB ddr3, HD4870 1GB, (vista 32bit) can run this on medium settings

  • it SHOULD run it on MAX settings!!! try adding more RAM

  • set to high should work 60+ fps. If not get more ram :)

  • can i run it on high(highest) settings because i am going to buy it but i dont want crappy performance.

    i got a e8200 dual core @2.66ghz

    vista 32 bit

    4gig drr2 500mhz( i now.....)

    asus radeon hd 4870 512mb

    all stockcooling ETC......

  • it will run pretty good. believe when i say u dont need maximum settings, its the difference between far far away and stupid far away.

medium view distance is more than enough, traffic to custom how busy u like it (too much hinders ur missions i find).

Oh and the e8200 overclocks a dream and is very easy to OC. You could get that to 3.3ghz at least without having to try.

A clan mate got his to 4ghz without having to change a single other setting than clockspeed with everything else on auto

  • perfect, mite run max at about 20-30 FPS, to get more, when u get, it try overclocking the CPU, search on Google

  • I NEED HELP! I also have a 9800 gx2 and also the same processor with two gigs of ddr3 ram. Without the command line gta doesnt let me pull up the graphics to max, since it is only recognizing something like 490 mb of vram.( does it also do that with urs?) In addition, when i use the command line to make the graphics unrestricted, the game works perfectly smooth for a minute or two and then the textures and even whole road and house stop loading and pop up very slowly!!!!!!!!!! why???????

  • Even a 32 bit OS will support 3.25GB so getting 4GB is not a waste. 2GB is way not enough. Whats happening is your game info is loading fine, then as other bits load, parts are 'page filed' onto your disk space which really slows any program to a crawl.

You are correct with the Gfx 490mb something. The card is 2x 9800's at (appx 512mb).

The cards each load the same textures twice, and that is how they draw twice as quick by drawing half as much, but each still needs to know what to draw. :-)

  • so just need to get more ram??? But wouldnt the other 1.25 gb of ram dill up too after some time playing the game???

P.S. ( sry im using another account sirthomasll to tzermiass)

  • Get patch. Also, get latest drivers, this turns off restrictions.

  • install the second patch, would be better...

  • i have 181 drivers and i get only 10-20 fps :S, i have got an 9800 gx2 too

  • ppl who say the pc version runs crapy, those ppl got the downloaded version wich needs more spec then the one you buy in the store

  • can i do something like this with my Calibre 8600 GT???

  • Nice, I have a 9800 gx2 but get crap performance sometimes..like 30-40 fps on UT3 and L4d, yet FO3 and Lost Planet gets 60 smooth(I run V-sync on about every game, but try both ways). How do you optimize your card? Settings for Nvidia control panel and whatnot? Thanks :)

  • I have a intel core 2 quad q9550 2.83, 8 gig ram ddr2 800 mhz vista 64 and 9800 gtx sli. I just get an average of 45 frames without maxing out and playing i get most of the time 20-35 frames. HOw can i overclock the cpu to aprox 3.5. i have liquid cooling

  • Hit 'Del' key (delete, not backspace) while ur PC first boots up doing the memory check etc..

In there somewhere (depending on motherboard make/model) are your over clock options.

search 'overclock settings' in youtube for an idea

  • It's your processor, I'm sure that's why it's so fast. GTA4 was optimized for multi-core processors like the PS3 because of the amount of processing cores it has. See, if I had that card, the game would still lag around 30 - 40 fps. So it's all about cores when it comes to your gaming performance.

  • i agree, it is one of the only 2 games i have to take advantage of multi core (many use Dual, multi is the word). Also my CPU runs at 3.7-3.8ghz which is why some people at stock settings are not achieving this

  • Yeah with other words not "totally" maxed out.

  • That's not max, put render quality on "highest".

  • render makes absolutely no fps difference, but makes gfx better.

  • Rendering effects like shaders make everything relect, shine and overall look better like water or windows.

Oh hang on? If it make no difference i hope they remove it.

  • rendering is like antistropic filtering, it makes textures far away on a flat plane more visible and clear. It may also effect shaders etc, but it acts as AF too.

  • also works good with 3870x2!!!!!

  • yes i believe this.Drivers will make a difference.

  • PLEASE tell me how to use both videocards in the 9800GX2... On highest settings I get 24 FPS and 30 FPS inside a house with 9800GX2 + 4gig RAM + Q9450 quadcore CPU with 1920x1200 resolution!

  • cool now play the game and watch your shit drop to 20fps

  • BS, have you even played this game?

  • nice I have the exact same CPU + GPU 60 FPS sounds 1337age

  • better on ps3 with 1920 * 1080p :D

  • ... at significantly worse graphics

  • agreed with that stupid "p key" blur setting which makes everyone sick!

  • I was saying that the PC version is great but my damn computer can't run it... so by pressing "P", it turns on the blur?

  • wow now that was pretty good.

Even than GTAIV only uses the half of the memory on sandwhich cards.

  • its impossible !! how a 9800 gx2 runs gta 4 in max settings!

  • try adding -norestrictions into ur shortcut

(right click ur GTA4 icon, start rockstar manager, then DONT click play, choose GTA 4 game icon u edited

to edit: Right click it, in target line you have something like

    "c:\program files\blablah\gta\blah.exe"

add onto the end (outside speech) so it look like

    "c:\program files\blablah\gta\blah.exe" -norestrictions

    (oneline)

bingo! MAKE SURE U HAVE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS

  • xd the same happen with me im playing nfs underocover and i have intel quad core q9550 2.67 and lol my 4 core is running at 100! and the rest 86,69,98 xd

  • I have one too but with q6600@ 3.0Ghz and I have 65fps on benchmark but with med texture, 20 draw distance and draw details on 25. Everything but it the same. Truly I don't know how he did it on all max settings..

  • I have a q9550 (all be it stock clock) and a 9800gx2 and i can only get 40fps with med textures, 45 draw distance and 50 detail.

I only have 4gb of ram compared to 8 but surely i can get close to this score. Do i have to dissable sli or something?

  • the most "heavy" thing in this game is draw disntance and details. Set it lower (it doesnt make much difference)then you'll get more fps. Try to set textures on high. I did and in game it still goes fluently. Dont bother about ram cause I have 4gb too and its enough with free space on vista. (vista 32-bit supports only 3gb of)

  • The benchmark is not accurate dude lol...I get on average 50% more fps in that benchmark then when I test fps why running the actual game.

  • oh yeh gta 4 works fine on crazy shit pcs, nobody is doubting that.

but seriously the minority of people have the money or technical knowledge to build a beast of a system like this.

  • the components were available a year ago or more. Making a PC isn't half as hard as u may think - seriously.

As long as u have a list of parts to buy (goto any PC forum and post a budget; ppl fall over themselves to respond)

Each wire/lead/component can ONLY be plugged into the place its supposed to go. The acception is a coupla of small motherboard wires for ur power/reset button & disk lights which u have to open the manual for 2 check

Nearest thing to building i did b4 was upgrade RAM.

  • Con un gioco come GTAIV è facile fare un punteggio simile, prova a farlo con Crysis Wars tutto al massimo a quella risoluzione, e vediamo di che cosa è veramente capace il tuo PC...

  • high is not max.

  • filipimodric, i have the same problem,I HAVE 9800GX2 AND IT SAY I HAVE ONLY 491MB GRAPHIC MEMORY I HAVE 180.84 drivers anyone help?

  • go to the nvidia control panel by right clicking on the desktop and selecting nvidia control panel. In the nvidia control panel, select the "Set multi-gpu and PhysX configuration" and make sure you have enable multi-gpu mode checked.
