I realize this was posted about a year ago, but I was wondering if the footage for your blue screen and cartoon hiding tests was shot on your Canon ZR 800.
I have the same camcorder and, pretty good editing software, but it never occurred to me that the image quality would be good enough for effects. Probably because it cost me under $100.
Yeah, they were. As long as it's a stable shot, the quality is usually good. I suggest getting a mic if you don't have one already. The camera's mic picks up static from the tape recording.
