Nz may not be able to compete in terms of skill, but its hard to say that that wasn't the best defensive effort of any team in the world cup. If there was stats for terriotory, i'm pretty sure it wouldv't been something like 10%-90%, and still Italy were only able to score a penalty goal. Probably the best defensive team in the groupnstages in terms of goals conceded out of shots and shots on goal. + 15 corners...Mark Paston and Ryan Nelson were legends that game.

go new zealand! They should have made it past the group stage. Against Slovakia (1-1) slovakia scored an offside goal that was counted resulting in a tie (NZ should have won 1-0). Then against Italy (1-1) Italy had to dive to score a goal, resulting in a tie (NZ should have won 1-0). The only game that NZ played that had a fair score was against Paraguay (0-0). So NZ should have had 7 points for 2 wins and one tie and gone on to knockout round. Oh well. Win the next world cup boys!
