  • No you can not.... you will over-charge the cells and they are at HIGH risk of exploding. Or at the very least, you will shorten the cells life-span.

  • I can't charge 3.0 rcr123a batteries in this? I have this charger and was hoping I could. But they aren't 3.7 but 3.0.

  • your voice sounds like Ted's from how i met your mother

  • Oh, btw, great review

  • That's kinda stupid, this charger is stated as "better" than TrustFire "super-duper-universal" but it has fake RCR123 bays. Sux. Too bad there is no alternative of universal chargers in the market (haven't found anyone yet), I'd need one for the mentioned above RCR123's plus 10440 and 14500's. Wrong wrong wrong. UltraFire seems doesn't listen to user feedbacks.

  • Does it charge the 123s to fast? To high charging amps?

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

  • Hi Muvotx

I want you to take a look at DX's user pics for that charger. Look at the last one. See how that CR123 is placed?

  • You gotta watch out for fake versions. I ordered two, one works like the one in this video, the other doesn't flash while charging.

  • OK, thanks for the answer to my question. And, thanks for all the good flashlight reviews.

  • Is your mod just a spacer (which it appears to be) or does it conduct current? Good idea and review. Thanks!

  • Its a wood dowel with a screw driven through it. So its a point to point conductor, roughly 3/4 as long as an 16340 cell.

  • Why add the dowel/screw/tape, what am I missing? Thanks.

  • It allows me to charge the RCR123 cells using the 18650 cell bays. There are two cell bays for RCR123, but they are not wired up from the factory. In order to use the RCR123 bays you need to open up the unit and solder some wires. Or, do the little hack you see here and load the RCR123s in the 18650 bays.

  • OOoohhh! I had no idea it needed to be re-configured, I just thought it accepted either battery as is.

    THANKS! Very helpful info.

  • I was a little pissed that none of this info was in the description. I expected to get a charger that would charge both types of batteries out of the box. I ASSume the contacts you say are not connected are for charging a CR123, but they do not fit properly in those slots.

  • No the charger will NOT charge 16340 sized cells out of the box.... thats why I did the little adaptation you see in this vid..

  • But if I'd known that up front I'd have bought something different. I did the solder modifications, but wouldn't have if I'd known.

  • Its not very well documented on the DX site, you wouldn't know this quirk without reading the user reviews. Although Lighthound states spacers are needed for CR123 cells.

  • Do you use the 3.6 cell in the Surefire I see in the back ground?

I wanted to get this to power my Surefire E2D, but I don't like the 1.2 volts or so that I'll get with rechargable CR123A on DX.

    Can't seem to find a good 3v rechargeable CR123A...

  • Yes.. but only with a P60 drop in module that is designed to handle 8.4V. The surefire Xenon P60 module will blow if you attempt to power it with two of these RCR123 cells.

  • Damn. Okay thanks. I'll keep looking.

  • Wood with a screw in it? much better than magnets.

    You are so smart...

  • The wood dowel & screw seem to work OK. It looks terrible though. I haven't tried magnets yet, maybe some day.

  • I think cr2 batts arent the same as cr123a are they different?

  • Yes, CR2 batteries are smaller... but I am not sure by how much. CR123 (and RCR123) cells are 16340... 16mm diameter, 34mm long, and the 0 designates cylindrical shape. You'll need to look up the shape code for CR2 cells and compare for yourself.

  • yea i thought they were the same thing i guess there not i went to cpf and found the same answer thanks

  • If i were to go out and pay retail it would have cost 3 or 4 times that amount

  • I just bought the lg Dare and so i bought the 2gb sanddisk micro sd card and adapter and there cheap sd card reader.for 15 bucks total delivered that was an awesome deal on ebay the best deal i could have got on the exact same thing was 30 dollars.i think thats were they got it!

  • they also have a great deal on the panasonic cr2 batteries
