those people are idiots. They call Xinjiang "East Turkistan" because they consider Uzbekistan to be "West turkistan". Uzbekistan isnt even ruled by Ughurs but ruled by Uzbeks. And Uzbeks dont even want anything to do Ughurs.

They are retarded. HISTORICAL FACTS: Xinjiang has been part of China since the 5th century. Ughurs only moved to that area since the 11th century. So how is suddenly THEIR COUNTRY?

Turkistan has two parts "Turk" which is the race of people who live there, and "stan" which is a persian word for "land". This means eastern Turkistan means eastern Turksland. Western Turkistan is the region west of today's chinese border. In today's world this region is divided into five countries: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. @xtrailer6 I would like to correct you, 'stan' is not a persian word, much to the disappointment of Persians. The word comes from Sanskrit, hence e.g. Hindu-stan and even from the older proto-language. Therefore, 'stan' also is found e.g. in Russian.
