its theoretical. Of course (right now) Computers don't have room for 16TB of RAM, but if you could put it in, Snow Leopard couldn't take full advantage of it. Its called 64-bit (x64).

In the near future, we will be using terabytes more commonly than gigabytes.

16TB would run you over $150,000 dollars at current ram prices assuming you got all 1TB ram chips which you would need 16 or 32 500GB chips. NOT! 24GB alone would run you over $2500.

Snow leopard is going to be a 32-64bit config (between the both. It has dual bit technology. Not all cores are 64-bit (like the core 2 duo's in old macbooks.

32 bit can handle around 2^32 bytes, which is 4 gigabytes.

64 bit has 2^64, which is 17,179,869,184 gigabytes.

aaahm,... Windows 7 uses 1gig of ram on my macbook pro - just like vista. It sure is more user friendly (less annoying than Vista) but still it uses a hell lot of ram and other system resources. P.s. I have a 2,6ghz Macbook pro with 4gig DDr2 ram and a 7200rpm Hdd.

hey, some people have tons of apps. and you never know how big of a jump technology will make in the near future. for windows xp it was the minimum of 256 MB of RAM and then it jumped to vista's bare minimum of 2 GB to even be comfortably functional. if RAM prices drop drastically when computers can support large amounts of RAM, then sure, we'll probably end up needing 16TB of RAM within the next 10 years. i mean, hard drives used to be in KILOBYTES. now look at them.

Windows 7 is just damage control for the disappointment of a resource hog Vista is. Windows 7 is still Vista, but in the good ways. I like it, I have been using it.

I still like Leopard better, the more you run, the more the memory management shows, plus I like some features inherent to OS X.

Windows 7 is a step in the right direction, while Snow Leopard is a speed enhancement to the already better OS. I see no reason to expect Windows 7 to win the next round, but I am liking it so far.

Nup, 16tb RAM. I am not saying that apple makes 16TB RAM (tho that would be awesome) but it supports that much. That makes it so in snow leopard you may have alot of ram and add more speed. In leopard, if you have 16gb of ram or over. It will be the same speed as 16gb ram. That means that the extra ram will not include speed to your computer. EG 32gb ram will be useless because it also supports half of it.

The point is that OS X will be able to adress more than 4 gigs per process and it will be capable to take full advantadge of the 64-bit Intel registers, that's the point about 64 bit.
