  • Public concern over global warming, & strict environmental laws prevent new refineries from being built. We've had none built since 1976.

CA has a "not in my backyard mentality" when it comes to power, that's why they import nuclear power. In Detroit and Indiana, two refineries have tried to expand capacity, yet faced opposition from residents & environmentalists.

A Democrat controlled committee just shot down a bill that would have lifted the ban on building new nuclear powerplants in CA.

  • I want to see a "movie" about a modern day Robin Hood who once a week picks a Gas station to rob from the rich and give to the poor. You know Exxon Mobile's record profits. the unbelievable lack of willingness on the part of "government" to act on behalf of the common people. We SERIOUSLY need a REAL modern day Robin Hood movie.

  • Cottored, just so you know, Exxon is not the blame for high gas prices, and that notion is a misconception put out there by people who don't know any better...such as liberal politicians who have no real answers, so they say things like that to make their constituents feel better.

Oil company profits are taxed just as badly if not more than families and businesses.

If we're going to go after oil companies, then we'd better go after the rice, milk and bread companies too.

  • Alexandra. Just so you know, I happen to own oil rights in a field that has been producing since 1971. The oil companies haven't decided to lease my property not because the price isn't right, but because they already have enough to feed the refinerys. They haven't built new refinerys specifically to keep the DEMAND high.We should not buy from companies who import oil from the middle east. Let the people who boat, drive snowmobiles and other "recreational vehicles" pay $10 a gal.

  • I don't think the government should step in and start raking oil companies over the coals by taking profits. There is this thing called "free enterprise, and it's what this country was founded upon. See my reply above about too.
